Time For Custom Rod? 2025

Im looking for the most sensitive rod for tx rigs,senko and the like. Only thing is I want a 6'10" length mh fast. Where I live putting my hands of some makes is hard. If I could have A St. Croix Ltb in that length would be great. I fish ponds so thats why the length is so important. I have crucial rods now and I know they make this model but wanted to step up my game a little. Is it time for a custom?

It's always time for a custom. Don't think that a high performance rod built to your specs has to be cost prohibitive. Email, PM or call and I'll talk options with you. No obligation unless/until you lay down a deposit.

Always go custom! You get the best of all worlds. There are a ton of different blanks and components out there. Just do your research and talk to DVT about what are some good ones to go after!

Mike @ DVT does good work. He built a spinning rod for my girlfriend on a Rainshadow blank (photo thread in the works). She has the nicest rod in the house. . . for now.

It's always time for a custom rod. Trust your builder and go with the highest performing, lightest components you can. Put your money into performance and not thread art, it will be well worth the investment.

I'm getting one built on the Eternity blank here soon! I'm thinking 7'6" Medium Heavy for 3/4 oz jigs on ledges. I already have this same build just on a Revelation blank and I love it. Can't wait to try out the Eternity!

The great thing about custom rods is they are built for exactly what you intend to use them for and they are built to your specs. For instance, you want a specific length and action. Once you decide on a blank, the guides reel seat and composition of the handle are also up to you. You don't have to settle for a split grip cork handle just because that's the only Rod you can locate in that length/action/power.

Unless you're on a budget, custom is the only way to go imo. Mhx and Batson offer blanks most anyone can afford that are better than most off the shelf stuff. The rest is up to you. Even with labor charges your still getting better than factory at or around the same expense. Plus you know it will be built clean and straight which is imperative for a particular fella such as myself. Opening a rod tube has never been so much fun!

Very cool. We have been having really amazing feedback on the RainShadow Eternity2 rod blanks. Remember this blank is more sensitive and lightweight, but not as strong as the Revelation! You can still trust it though! We went to Lake Okechobee last year after Icast and we purposely put them under the ringer. Still no problems!!

The RainShadow Immortal is a wonderful blank. It purposely replaced the RX8 with all new refreshed materials, designs, etc.. Great choice too!

It is actually more affordable than you think. If you were to match pound for pound what you get in a factory rod vs a custom, you would be astonished what they charge. Then again what drives cost as DVT said, it all depends on what you want. You start changing out different grips, different reel seat configurations, guides ( Titanium or Stainless Steel ) then color.. That is when the costs go up due to the ultimate customization.

You wouldn't believe what I paid for 2 customs off the classifieds a couple years ago. Couldn't buy an *** Black at full price for what I paid. One is a Rainshadow RX7 and the other an RX8....both 7' MHF. The Rainshadow is a favorite rod. Gets used more than the RX8 because it has one of my favorite reels on it....a Zillion 50th Anniversary. Rod has red trim. Need to put another favorite on the RX8 so it will get used more. Maybe the T3 MX as the RX8 has blue trim. Surely blue and purple would look good together.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!! Well good news, those have been some of our best selling rod blanks! What components does it have? Lets see a pic!! The new models have replaced some of the models you have though. The new RainShadow Eternity2 has new RX9 materials, designs, and NANO!! The RainShadow Immortal is an improved RX8 with new designs and better material. The RainShadow Revelation replaced some models in the RX7 lineup. The RX7 lineup still have some great models too!!

I never see spiral wrapped rods in any of my catalogs. Wonder why more manufactures don't offer them? Is it a low demand niche market or what?

IMO, they would then need to offer 3 models of each rod. LH and RH retrieve spiral and then conventional for those that don't like the looks of the spiral. THen, couple that with 'micro' guides and standard guides and each model has the potential for 6 variants. That really becomes a big catalog if you're already offering 10 or more models of casting rods.

Depends on the blank choice, guide choice, seat choice, handle choice & how much BLING you want. You can buy a custom rod for $200 -$300 dollars & get a really nice rod. Or you can spend $300-$600 & have top shelf components and have the rod of your dreams. Its all about choices.

The other reason you don't see them is your average fisherman isn't going to go for it, spiral wrapped rods look funny. People haven't seen them before and they won't make sense to them. There's also a large group who think it's a gimmick, same people think micro guides are a gimmick.

im just getting into the custom world but its so much better thsn the requalar crap we get the rods are spined and bulit to your specs
