Refresh my memory, just so I can keep this as a general reference. What is the best type of line to use for each of the following baits/rigs?
1.) T-rig plastics
2.) Jigs
3.) Hollow Frogs Spooks/Dogwalkers
4.) Poppers
5.) Spinnerbaits
6.) Swim jigs
7.) Drop shot
8.) Wacky rig
9.) Soft jerkbaits
10.) Crankbaits
Thanks.
I would use braid for most of those
Uhhhh.....this is a duplicate. Not sure how that happened.
Mods, feel free to delete this one.

Which ones would you not use braid?
I would not use braid or braid with a leader for crankbaits, spooks, swimjigs, spinnerbaits, or poppers.
Braids too stiff for crankbaits or anything with treble hooks imo. With moving baits like spinnerbaits and swimjigs, braid doesn't let the fish grab it as well, again, because of the stiffness. I like fluoro for everything mentioned above except for poppers and spooks I like mono. Also I will switch to straight fluoro for bottom contact baits in deep water because it's more sensitive than braid on a semi slack line. Braid doesn't transmit vibrations too well on a slack line due to its low density. It's not so bad in shallow water because not as much line is in the water and it's easier to watch the line jump in shallow water.

2. 30lb braid
3. 50lb braid for frogs, 12-14lb mono for spooks
4. 12-14lb mono
5. 17lb mono
6. 17lb fluoro or 40lb braid (depending on cover)
7. 10-20lb braid with a 6-8lb fluoro leader
8. ^^ exact same
9. 12lb-14lb fluoro
10. Crankbaits are such a broad category, I can't answer this
Pretty much same here. Except 10-20 lb flouro for #1 (depending on cover) and 16 lb flouro for #2. For the last one 12 lb mono or flouro will work for most crankbait applications. On 6/25/2015 at 6:01 AM, PitchinJigz said:1. 15lb fluoro

There is no right answer or a reference for this. Everyone uses different line for different purposes. Figure out what YOU like and stick to that.
Personally for me I fish braid for Frogs Arigs, and some topwater baits. I like mono for cranks baits, topwaters, and jerkbaits. Floro for about everything else like weightless plastics, Texas rigs, Carolina rigs, jigs, Dropshots, shakeyhead, and small swimbaits.

7.) Drop shot 20 lb Braid with 8lb Fluorocarbon Leader or 7 lb FC Sniper
8.) Wacky rig 7 lb FC Sniper
9.) Soft jerkbaits 20 lb Braid With Fluorocarbon Leader
10.) Crankbaits 12-14 lb Nylon
Thanks.

Im making a reference.
What are your preferences?

1.) T-rig plastics - 12-16 Fluoro
2.) Jigs - 14-20 lb fluoro
3.) Hollow Frogs Spooks/Dogwalkers - 50 braid for frogs, 14-17 copoly for spooks
4.) Poppers - 12 copoly
5.) Spinnerbaits - 16 fluoro
6.) Swim jigs - 12-16 fluoro
7.) Drop shot - 10 braid to (or) 8 fluoro
8.) Wacky rig - 10 braid to (or) 8 fluoro
9.) Soft jerkbaits - 12 fluoro
10.) Crankbaits - 12-16 fluoro
Thanks.
That's basically what I use. How are you going to make a reference when everyone uses something different? Why not make a reference of what you use, who cares what a bunch of people on the internet use?

Dont worry about it. Try not to care what some person on the internet is looking to do.
Thanks for your input, people.

oookay lol
1 through 10 I use braid
5,8,10 I do use fluoro now and then.
If while using briad I need some give Ill use a more moderate action rod or lighten up on the drag.
Any bait with a large worm hook, or frog hook is a candidate for braid. Any bait that floats is a candidate for Mono. Any bait that sinks, is not a candidate for mono. Any bait with small thin hooks, is a candidate for mono. Any bait fished in clear, or heavy pressured water is a candidate for Floro.
If I am fishing a weighted texas rig it is on braid, if I am fishing a floating texas rig chances are it's on mono.
If it floats, I throw mono. If it sinks I throw Floro. If it has big hooks, hits the bottom, or I'm in heavy cover I throw braid. If the water is clear, or pressured I try and use a floro leader with everything I throw.
But that's just how I reel.
12# p line cxx for all
1.) T-rig plastics-fluoro
2.) Jigs-fluoro
3.) Hollow Frogs Spooks/Dogwalkers-braid
4.) Poppers-braid or mono both work
5.) Spinnerbaits-fluoro
6.) Swim jigs-braid or fluoro depending on where you fish them
7.) Drop shot-braid /w fluoro leader or straight fluoro
8.) Wacky rig-fluoro
9.) Soft jerkbaits-same as #6
10.) Crankbaits-dealers choice. they all work.
1.) T-rig plastics- Fluoro
2.) Jigs- Fluoro but I use braid now and then to play around with it
3.) Hollow Frogs Spooks/Dogwalkers- braid
4.) Poppers- mono
5.) Spinnerbaits- fluoro
6.) Swim jigs- fluoro
7.) Drop shot- braid + leader
8.) Wacky rig- braid + leader
9.) Soft jerkbaits- fluoro

1. 14lb fluoro
2. 16lb fluoro
3. Two different baits. Frogs 50lb braid, and 30lb braid to a 17lb mono leader for walking baits
4. 12lb mono
5. depends on cover, 14lb-16lb fluoro or 30lb braid
6. 30lb braid, ill add an appropriate leader if necessary, 12lb-16lb fluoro
7. 7lb fluro
8. 8lb-12lb fluoro (8 for spinning gear 12 for casting gear)
9. 12lb fluoro
10. 12-14lb fluoro
***All fluoro is SUNLINE SNIPER***
***All Braid is power pro OG***
As for me, I go with:
1.) T-rig plastics - Fluoro
2.) Jigs - Fluoro or braid with fluoro leader (straight braid in the thick stuff)
3.) Hollow Frogs Spooks/Dogwalkers - Braid for frogs, Mono for spooks
4.) Poppers - Mono
5.) Spinnerbaits - Mono
6.) Swim jigs - Fluoro
7.) Drop shot - Light braid & fluoro leader
8.) Wacky rig - Fluoro
9.) Soft jerkbaits - Fluoro
10.) Crankbaits - Mono for shallow & medium, fluoro for deep.
The bait is part of the equation but cover, depth, water clarity, even wind can affect line choice. I like braid for sensitivity and line handling and occasionally run a leader for abrasion resistance. I'm trying some light fluoro in gin clear waters.
I use mono for all of them. Somewhere between 4 lb. and 20 lb., depending on technique.
