Looking for any input on the Gblanks MH baitcasting stick. Ive been eyeballing these rods for some time.. Anyone have any feedback, whether it be positive or negative? Thanks in advance. ;D
I will tell you in a couple of days mine is mailing out today. Got the 6'9" RX8 model wanted a Heavy but went with a MH on Larry's suggestion. Will let you know what I think as soon as I get it. Seems to be a great guy to deal with though.
Sorry, I can not help with a MH baitcaster, but I can give advice on the 2 spinning rods I had made by GBlanks. 6.6MXF/6.8MHXF Rainshadow RX8+ blanks were used.
Both rods are incredibly light weight and very very sensitive, while the extra fast tip provides alot of action they both have plenty of backbone to horse big bass out of deep cover, and there's a few members in here that'll agree to that.
The rods load up nicely and there is a smooth transition throughout the cast. The sensitivity factor is amazing, I can feel every subtle lil tap, the blades on my spinnerbaits come to life and practically feel the bass inhale my finesse worm as she wanders the pond bottom. I fish some light weight swimbaits and lipless cranks, and able to detect every wobble.
I DO own GLoomis and StCroix, although neither may be thier flagship rods, but never the less $200 dollar plus rods.
In a nutshell I love these rods, they way look, feel, fish and everything there is to love about a rod.
Will I buy another? You bet I will, my next will be a MHF in casting.
Hope this helps. That aint a bad bass for RI waters.
Thanks to both of your input. Also I like fishing stiffer rods, are these Mh rods stiff or real flimsy?
Larry told me that the MH in the RX8 model is more like a heavy on the Loomis rods that I have said they were more like the ST Croix ratings I have never bought a St Croix so I cannot comment on that. But I did take his advice and got a MH instead of a Heavy. Will tell you more when I get it probably Friday or Saturday.
Hey ArticCat you said the right words to pursuade me to want to buy a Gblanks.
Not to be too nosey, but is there a big price difference between the RX8+ and the RX8 rods that Larry currently has listed?
Thanks
Glad I listened to Larry the MH on the RX8 is more like a Heavy rod looks great to would highly recommend them. I did not price the Rx8+ so I do not know what the price difference would be.

Glad I could help.
The RX8+ is about $20 more I believe. But I think that isnt bad at all, if its going to cost you $200 for the 8 then order the 8+, you'll have almost 3weeks to save that extra 20 to 25 bux the better blank will run you. You go the better blank on say a Loomis or St Croix they run you $100 plus in some cases.
Call Larry and he can walk you right through it. Mention he came highly recommended by myself(Dave S) and Chris W, also you heard about the rods from here BassResource.com
Chris, keep me up to date on how you like her.

and i dopnt regret gettin rid of either rod
i like my g-blanks that much
i would say they are right on par with the loomis imx rods but only liter
if u want u can tell him matt jungblut gave u his number and website
i have always wanted to try one of these.you guys are talking me into one i think.for the price the seem pretty cool and different.just wish i could hold one first.
Cory, go for it Dude you wont regret it, I'd be surprised if you stop at 1.
heres my newer GBlanks 6.8MHXF with my new Fuego 2500
Thanks for all the info guys. GBlanks specialize in the rod configurations that I would like to try (cumara style).
As I consider spending money that the Baitmonkey believes I have, I'm thinking RX8+ blank with Recoil guides would be a very cool setup.
Ok, so I spoke to Larry today and let me say that this gentleman was very helpful. I am totally sold on the rod. Now all thats left is for me to send him the money. Thanks to all for you great advice. ;D

You won't be disappointed I got to fish last night with mine for about an hour or so and it is a great feeling rod. I would compare it to an IMX but it is lighter than the 3 IMX's I own. Will have to get some pictures up of it.
Chris W, good to know info right there, I know these rods are a cut above the factory sticks that cost more then they do....but how would yu compare her to your GLX?
Glad you like it...i knew you would.

They will build your rod, you dont have to send anything upfront....when he emails you and tells you its done he'll invoice you...pay him then.
Not as good as the GLx's but nothing I have ever bought is. The G blanks rod are however a great rod for the price. I am sure that this will not be my last one. Probably will order my Dad one for his birthday in a few months. They are a very good looking well built rod and Larry was great walking me through the process and all of the advice that he gave me I took and am glad that I did.

glad you like it, I hada feeling you would, l never fished with a GLX, but Im sure for the money they're insane. But its good to know the GBlanks hold thier own against some of the higher end rods.
Last year l looked around and priced a few rod builders using a couple different blanks, the Loomis IMX was one and a ST Croix SCv was a second choice, both of these choices were comprable to the Rainshadow RX8 and RX8+. But for some reason to build on the ST.C, and Loomis blanks the prices were $100 more and one builder wanted over that.
I could'nt imagine why using those blanks warrented a price tag that much more.
In any event Im very happy with my GBlanks, and for the money I'd throw it up against anything in that price range, and some that cost more.
Thanks for input Chris W, I think alot of guys should take note on your GBlanks experiance.
These rods are truley worth the money, wether you choose the best Rainshadow blank, or one that fits your buget, a custom rod made just for you, is just that.. Made for you!
i had Larry make me a swimbait rod , it was supposed to be a 3-8 oz. rod but he ended up making me a 2-6 oz. rod , called him up and told him about it and he said '' you are right '' asked if i wanted to return it and i told him '' no way !!'' , i'll keep it but make me the 3-8 oz. , he gave me a discount on the 3-8 oz. rod so now i have 2 swimbait rods . i fished the 2-6 oz. rod and it is great for hudds and the bbz . just got the 3-8 oz. today so im gonna have to test it out tomorrow any how , Larry is great to deal with and every time i called i got thru to him , he makes sweet rods and has excellent prices , i highly recommend him (Gblanks). 8-)
There is none better!
Just fished my new rod for the first time. Let me tell you this thing is awesome, super light and very sensative. Only managed a couple of dinks today with this rod but you could feel the light bite. Great rods, in the process of saving up for a new one.

fishntime, post up a pic or 2 and fill us in on what you had made, lenght, action, spin/bc? Love to hear it, and glad you liked it, I had a feeling you would.
I bought a 7ft Heavy, IM7, baitcasting rod. It is my all around rod. I paired it up with a Daiwa Zillion. Larry is the MAN. I am already preparing myself for a MH RX8. The IM7 is a little heavy, but Larry assured me that the RX8 is much lighter. Great Rod! Thanks to everyone and their positive input. ;D
Sorry but the Pics are very blurry.
I like that The 8's are alot lighter and the +'s a little lighter then that. But not enough to really feel it. Either way you'll love it.
