This is not about conditions, lures, season, presentation or anything other than the rod you love to fish the most.
Mine is my St. Croix Legend Elite EC68MHF casting rod.
It's not the lightest, nor the most sensitive. But it has a certain je ne sais quoi that makes it sooooooooooo sweet.
My St. Croix Avid AC68MXF. I just recently bought it, and we bonded immedietly.
Casting: Kistler Helium LTA 7' MH
Spinning: Kistler Helium LTA 6'6" M
my 6'6'' Loomis GLX, that things a BEAST! ;D 8-)
Well Avid, I have an ES70MF that I like a lot, too.
But my favorite is a G.Loomis GLX PR844S.
Matching it with a Stella 2500FB helps!
7' Medium Heavy Kistler Graphite Special, whooped a lot of big bass with this trusty stick 8-)
Shimano Crucial CRC-X610MH only cause I caught 7 over 10 lbs & a 11 lb 3 oz with it
Then again I caught a 12 lb 8 oz on my Bass Pro Shops SG60MT Spiral Medium Heavy IM7 $49.95 ;D
6' falcon cara.
QuoteMy St. Croix Avid AC68MXF. I just recently bought it, and we bonded immedietly.
Same here!
HANDS DOWN: 6'6' LAMIGLASS MEDFAST/ MED SPIRAL WRAPPED ROD MADE CUSTOM FOR ME BY OUR VERY OWN ALPSTER MY CRANK BAIT ROD AND HE MADE ME A GEM, ALL MY OTHER RODS COME IN SECOND
Mine is a Quantum Octane spinning combo I got at Dicks. Something about it is just magic.
I have a 4' Batman that's got a nice fast action and I love it for flippin. I think I still prefer the 3'6 Garfield though. It has just enough bend for crankbaits but still works great for plastics. That's probably my favorite.
I tried the well-known Snoopy series but they're not all they're cracked up to be. Stay away from those.
Never heard of a Gloomis. Might have to try one of those if it comes in a 3'6" model with built-in reel.
6' ML Spinning Ugly Stick!!
Bought it when I was in junior high (seems like forever ago) and will be replacing it this winter. I may actually be sad when I replace it, I have caught LOADS of fish with that rod and have TONS of good memories beating the bank with it.
6-6 mh johnny morris signature series casting rod.
6'6" St. Croix Premier Casting- Heavy action for my jig fishing. But that might be changing when my 2 Carrot Sticks come in :) :)
Quote6-6 mh johnny morris signature series casting rod.
Same as Dirk, lol Loves that rod
I actually have 3.
in the rear (of pic)- The custom rod from Flechero. I plan to add 3 more, dressed the same, and will use these 4 rods from here on out. Rods are sentimental to me and I want a custom set of 4, built by a friend.
Number 2 is the time proven most comfortable rod I ever used (alot), the Spidershaft
3rd is my very favorite and as mentioned before, rods are sentimental to me. This is a rod that was a replacement from Shimano. I had a cheaper one $40 that my roommate broke while I was away in Germany. He sent it to Shimano and explained that he was using it (without permission-not that I would have denied him, I wasn't there to ask) and that I was gonna freak out when I got home. They replaced it with this one. It was $189 back in 1986! I can't remember the names because they were so similar. Fighting stick, lightning rod, beast master, I don't remember.
This rod has been painted (by me) with a fleckstone paint (looked like granite), it was also blue once and now it is a spidershaft knockoff, lol. I also removed the rear rubber grip. Replaced it with cork tape and removed that. Added a butt cap and here it is.
Crazy, I know but I love personalized stuff, lol
This rod has been to Hawaii, Bermuda, Argentina and Japan with me.
This is the rod that first got me really addicted to fishing (pre-ski days) and the one that brought me back. I can't begin to comprehend how many hours this rod has seen. It only comes out on specific occasions now. (Like fishing way up in a tight little river a few weeks back with Tin2win) I'm afraid to break it. It resides in my kitchen, on the wall, with a few other HONORED pieces like the Terminator finesse jig that caught 31 5 lbrs before the hook snapped. stuff like that.
It is 5'6" and deadly accurate for pinpoint casting. It is a MH I believe
Cool piece of detail is the "shimano" they put between the guide feet. I made sure to never paint over that, lol
Mine would have to be my Kistler Helium II LTX MH 7'. Just alot of fun to fish with a 3 oz. rod.
Russ, I have always wondered what that silver rod was that we always get to see in the videos. Now I know.

$39.00 or $49.00? retail when they were first out, what a steal. After they were discontinued, I bought a big batch of them on ebay. I have 3 left, lol. Soon to be 2, one of them has a buddy's name on it for the next time I see him. The made for very "snap-able" bluefish rods for $12 each and now I am kicking myself for abusing and breaking them like that.
they CAN be found on Ebay every now and again but I think the last one there went for $80-90? Not sure.
My favorite is my G. Loomis BCR803 GLX. It sort feels like a magic wand. Just a great rod.
ive been lookin at some falcons, theyre a little out of my price range but you get what you pay for so it would be worth it i suppose
My Custom 3.5oz Shikäri SHX844 7' Hvy Fast, Split Grip, Spiral Wrap jig rod, super light and very sensitive...
Well, my BSR 803 GLX has boated the most fish, and is the one I try to use first, but, if I was forced to choose just one rod to keep, it would be my SJR783-IMX spinning rod. My favorite general fishing rod that could handle most of the lures I throw, if it was required to.
LBH, I think that is a Shimano SpeedMaster, but it's been a while since I've seen one; I could be wrong.
My faves;
casting, a toss up between the Avid AC68MXFand the Setyr SPB178M
Spinning. easy the Airrus 7'2" medium Tradition
My 7 foot G Blank spinning rod.
Hey Low Budget your rod is on Ebay right now it was at 180 a couple of days ago.
I didn't know Shimano made split grips that long ago. I'm not calling you old, well sorda ;D
I had to think this one.
There are some rods I get a very special pleasure when I use them for some techniques.
Custom George Roth Seeker 706 e-glass for deep cranking.
Steez 6.7 MH for Fat Ikas.
Custom David Green St Croix 6.6 H., shore fishing my lily pads jungle with heavy jigs.
An old BPS Bionic blade IM6, 6' med/fast, pistol grip rod. Like an old pair of slippers.
Otherwise, the only favorite is the one I'm currently catching fish on.
Evergreen Balista paired with my Steez 100HA. Yin and Yang.
QuoteEvergreen Balista paired with my Steez 100HA. Yin and Yang.
You are the devil. Putting thoughts in my head like that.
well right now currently the best one i OWN is my falcon cara....but i'm def. keeping an eye out (esp. one of David's rods they look amazing)

Jimzee, I am your father.
LOL!!
I knew that would bring you out of the woodwork.
I never leave without my MBR783 IMX and TD-Z. Great all around combo. I don't like a lot of rods laying on the boat deck so I only take 3-4. The 783 goes every time. If needed, I can use it with anything from soft plastics to heavy spinnerbaits.
FD
i cant really say ,,, at this point .... i i really like all my rods .... ohh there all bass rods ....
I favorite has to be my St. Croix AC66MHF. But I have never fished a loomis yet, so i guess that could change someday from what I hear about loomis rods.
Probably gonna have to w/ my Rouge Rod's Flippin' Stick. In alabama, I can pick up this rod anytime of the year and catch a fish.
Fenwick Techna AV AVC70MHF.
Kistler magnesium 6'9" MH all purpose- great rod- not my most or least expensive but the best. Paired with my shimano scorpion mg reel simply amazing to fish with. Makes some of my other combos feel like I am holding old CB antennas over the side of the boat LOL.
