I got my Curado from David today and on that Cumara it's just so freakin' perfect. The Power Knobs feel great in my hand, and ergonomically it fits my arms just right. I think I made the "ultimate" combo for the way I fish.
My frog setup, a Vendetta with an Advantage, is also that way, very comfortable for the shape of my hands.
So have you ever made the "perfect" combo?
Fuji Reel seat, plus Daiwa reel = The best fits for me so far.
Shimano's and Abu/BPS/Pfleuger reels are pretty good too.
Daiwa Zillion + Revo Premier...Match made in heaven!
shimano core on any powertackle or falcon Cara T7

I haven't felt a bad one yet, although i've never touched a steez.
I like the Advantage HSTA frame and the Zillion frame the most though.
The perfect combo is the irreplacable one(s) that gets broken. The rod that is. I really liked the old Daiwa powermesh rods from the 80's and the old Shimano magnumlite 6'6" rods. They just fit my hands well, and once I caught so many good fish with them, they became sorely missed crankin rods. It's never the least favorite ones that get broken.

The HSTA is a beast of a reel. It does the job very well however. I would really only use it for frogs, swimbaits, and flippin' though. It's a big friggin' reel.
My Vendettas and Pro Qualifiers feel pretty good in my hands.
For spinning I really like the grip on the Carbonlite. It fits my hand extremely well.

Where do you get all of these reels? Do you have a really high paying job for a 15 year old? Just curious.
I have a modified Pixy and a 7' M Helium that I use to throw small cranks with. It feels like an extension of my arm and just fun to use.
MBR842C/ Core 50MG7
Steezy actually recommended this combo to me
and I love it! The rig balances perfectly creating
the illusion of weightlessness.
8-)
I rerally like all my combos, but there is just something special about my Lamiglas Excel 703C/Revo S-L. Unfortunately, it is not suitable for most of the cover I fish, but I grab it up whenever I can!
Daiwa Sol on a Shimano Crucial 6'6" crankbait rod.
The all feel right to me.
And as we sit in Richmond, freezing our fannies off, they are feeling better and better as each day rolls around and we get closer to spring.
Fat-G, remember the handle length has a lot to do with the feel of the rod so take that into consideration.
Now, get back to studying so you can get a full boat ride to MIT or Harvard and make us proud.
P.S. Seen Adrian lately????

Fixed it right this time
every thing I own.............if they didn't, I wouldn't have them. I buy and put them together so they feel right from the get go. However I have had a few that felt "right" but fished like crap............The Daiwa Fuego, paired with my St Croix LTB 7' M/F "Teaser" was a good example.
I have 2 but they are basically the same thing! St Croix AVC70mhf paired with a Shimano core 50. The other is a St Croix AVC70hf paired with Shimano Curado 50. The extra weight of the h rod with the extra weight of the curado vs core just feel really good for some reason.... I dont understand it, but the more I fish with it, the more I like it! Maybe because its my Jig rod and I'm really becoming jig happy!
Jeff
For me its my Revo SX/6'3 Vendetta. Its super light and it allows me to tuck casts into some pretty tight spots.
My Dobyns/Premier and Dobyns/Zillion combos are both extremely comfortable to fish with.
...But they don't compare to my Zillion rod/Zillion reel combo. For those of you who haven't handled a combo like this, try to get your hands on one. It feels NICE

Yeah I hear ya man. For the past year and a half I've been trying to get my arsenal to where I wanted it to be, meaning a couple different combos that I really like, instead of 20 different cheap ones.
In reality I could use the Cumara/Curado for every fishing technique I use. But, what's the fun in that? ;D
Sam- not recently, she's in the "I'm extremely smart" classes, I'm in the "I'm smart" classes, LOL.

Nice man, how do you think the Curado 50 and Core 50 compare? I bet if you got spool bearing upgrades in the Curado and a Carbontex drag it would fish a lot like the Core.
No, they have the same bearings, for the most part. Upgrading to a carbontex drag is just that, and upgrade. Isn't going to make a Curado into a Core. The difference between the two is weight. There really isn't anything you can do to a Curado to make it into a Core.
I agree with ww2farmer and Sam....if it don't feel just right, you will find it on the flea market board.
I do have a Chronarch 50Mg on G.loomis custom rod that seems to float in your hand. Some of the members at the Guntersville Roadtrip might remember holding that one.
Ronnie
I might just not be as much of a reel snob as others, lol, but I think they fish about the same with the exception of the weight! But like I said, on the touch heavier rod than my core setup, its awesome! Plus its mainly for pitchin jigs and thats not as easily compared as my worm rod that I cast not pitch!
Jeff
If it doesn 't feel just right then I don 't have it.

I have bought and ended up selling so many rods and reels, because they didn't feel just right. I am also constantly switching reels with rods just to fine tune that "just right" feeling.
No apology needed for learning something.

My two favorites, best feeling and lightest combo's:
Aldebaran Mg/CUC-72M
Core 100/CUC-68MH
I have put Rod Grips made by Reel Grips on them because I don't like the slick, EVA grips on them (I use to cringe making a one hand cast because to me,they just have no grip to them) Rod Grips solved that problem! Try em!

I wasn't big on the EVA foam either, but I really kinda like it on the CUC-72MH. I don't like the hook keeper though.

Ronnie created a fantastic rod for me. It is a 6'8" Shikari MH with a spiral wrap. I have a 51mg on it. Best "feeling" combo I own. Works perfectly for the 5/16th jigs I prefer to throw.
I also have a Loomis swimbait rod that he made with a 301 Curado on it. It's a bait slinger, for sure.

I don't own them, but I have fished my Uncle's HSTA and he recently purchased a Zillion he let me use for about an hour.
I should start my job though mid way through this month if all goes right. 8-)
Wow... that's tough.
The best feeling combo I have would probably be an Alphas Ito 103-Ai mounted on a 6'6" MHF Daiwa Cielo. Balances like a dream, casts effortlessly, pitches very well, skips relatively well, etc. It's also ridiculously light. Best part is it handles light baits exceptionally well.
For some reason though, I have a supertuned and upgraded Curado 100D mounted on an old 6'7" Falcon Lowrider XG MHXF that is pretty much idiot-proof. This combo is not as well balanced, is heavier, and doesn't work as well for skipping or pitching or lighter baits, but I've yet to have it backlash for any reason at all while casting for some reason. There have been many a time when I just load it up with a 3/4 oz jig and swing it like a baseball bat and forgot to thumb the spool properly, and yet it won't bird nest. I doubt it's the spool tension either because the combo casts things really far and the spool free-spools just fine - it spins for something like 6 seconds.

Where are you gonna work? I have an internship with the DGIF this summer, and I'll probably work at Green Top or an air conditioning company locally. They pay $17 an hour. ;D
Good luck just walking into that $17/hr. job with no experience. Unless you're family.
:-/
Saint Croix Avid AVS63MLXF, Shimano Stradic CI4, 6# InvisX. Love that rig.
I have a few that I can't bring myself to seperate. One is a 7'M Zillion with a Daiwa Alphas 103, it just feels right for tubes, small jigs, and jerkbaits. Another is my 6'10"MH Carrot Stix Gold and a Daiwa Sol, it's a great shallow crank/jerkbait setup. I won a 6'6''MH Pinnacle Perfecta rod and strapped a Curado 50e on it and man does it feel good for jigs, topwater, and t-rigs.

Be thankful you even getting that much, I only got 4.95/hr my first job.

to me the steez combo feels way better than the zillion combo. the zillion reel's profile is a bit higher and it doesn't sit the same on the rod.
