Braided Line Users, What's Your Preferred ( Quickest ) Knot Of Choice? 2024

fishing user avatarmaleko reply :

I wanna start direct tying everything .. I direct tie hooks obviously. I use snaps for lures, spinners etc..

I want to see what you use if you are changing baits a lot etc.

thanks

fishing user avatarJeziHogg reply :

for direct hook tying I use a snell knot right on the hook, for lures I go with a Palomar

fishing user avatarBluebasser86 reply :

Palomar

fishing user avatarQUAKEnSHAKE reply :

Through eye twice 7 turn uni knot. My own testing it holds a few more pounds than a Palomar. And Knot Wars did head-to-head comparision of palomar and this uni knot with just 4 turns and the uni won.

fishing user avatarJolly Green reply :

Trilene knot or palomar.

fishing user avatarMDBowHunter reply :

Palomar, on almost everything

fishing user avatarEdRitchie reply :

I use different knots. I just started using the Uni knot or Duncan knot. Really easy seems super strong and a small compact knot. I also use Palomar and double San Diego jam knot. Google different knot that's where I saw Shawn Grigsby do the double San Diego jam knot for fluorocarbon . All seem to work for braid.

I have been looking at quick knots to tie as well and I've started using the pitzen knot and improved clinch.  I guess it depends on which lure you're tying on to, maybe it's me but I had difficulty tying a palomar with bigger lures like spinner baits, crank baits and jigs with trailers.

Pitzen knot:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzgnf236QDE

Improved Clinch:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DuHE6SRVT_E

The uni knot looks pretty easy too, I might have to try that one out.

fishing user avatarflyfisher reply :

Palomar for pretty much everything but for smaller flies or diameter lines i like the improved clinch or the uni knot most times.  For some reason i just don't like the palomar with mono or flouro.  No real reason but it is probably because i grew up tying the improved clinch and it worked fine on the mono of the day so it feels strange to tie something else.

fishing user avatariabass8 reply :

palomar

Palomar for braid only...

Braid and Floro = Palomar

fishing user avatarChris007 reply :

Palomar!!!

fishing user avatarDarren. reply :

I snell all my worm hooks unless they're weighted and don't have enough room to snell. I've even figured out how to successfully snell a weedless wacky hook.

San Diego Improved Palomar Uni Clinch Knot.....

Or just a Palomar.

fishing user avatarRobert Oakden reply :

fishing user avatarderekxec reply :

improved clinch then i burn the tag end

fishing user avatarnew2BC4bass reply :

It isn't the fastest, but tests prove it is one of the strongest.  The Uni or the Fish N Fool which is simply the Uni with 2 passes thru the eye.  Grew up on the Clinch and Improved Clinch.  Never had a problem with knots breaking on mono.  Never tried it on braid, but imagine it would work fine.

It is obvious that there are many knots that will work just fine for the majority of us.  Tie what you have confidence in.

For braid I use the Paloma's knot 100 percent of the time. For flouro and mono I always use the improved clinch knot.
