Has anyone used this reel yet? I noticed it on TW it looks like a nice reel. How does it compare to, say, the old Lews Team Gold or Daiwa Zillion on sale for the same price which I'm also considering?
I like the Lews, but love the zillion!

I've heard great things about the zillion, but I just can't get past how heavy it is. The reel will be paired with a phenix m1 7'2" med hvy which is a light rod (under 4oz). The zillion weighs over 3 oz more than the team lite so I'm not sure if it would balance properly with the rod...
I have the Lew's Lite Speed Spool. It is a great reel, i did put up a review on it on TW, and here in the forums.
Please search the Rods, Reels forum here for it. I would go further into detail, but this was my wedding weekend and barely have enough energy to type this now.
PS, I have not used either reel you wanted comparisons to.
What could you possibly be doing on your wedding weekend to make you so exhausted Woody??On 10/13/2014 at 6:00 AM, WdyCrankbait said:I have the Lew's Lite Speed Spool. It is a great reel, i did put up a review on it on TW, and here in the forums.

I got an idea about it...
I just recently purchased one of the Lews Team Lite Speed Spools and so far I'm impressed with it. I've got it paired with a Falcon Jason Christie 6'8 MH and love the set-up, so I'd think you would be fine pairing it with your 7'2 MH. It's freakishly light and at first that worried me a little bit (questions about casting distance, durability, etc.). Like I said, so far I'm impressed with it as it casts extremely well (I was casting a Lucky Craft Flash Pointer 115 MR 30+ feet easily) once you get the spool tension and brakes setup right. Also, I've used it quite a bit sense getting it and have no questions about its durability so far. Well worth the money spent on it.
Yes, thank you guys!!!
I caught mine on sale through TW and got it for $158. But, the casting distance is great! I don't try and launch it into the next universe, just flick the wrist and 30 yards everytime. Mine did take about 2 hours using, setting, and resetting to fine tune and get the reel broken in. After that, GOLDEN! I have caught a 5 lber. on it and no problem getting him in. It is my go to reel, extremely wide casting control spectrum, I think the drag is great, and very precise casting controls. My first Lew's, I have always used Shimanos, now the Shimanos don't get used.

I would have to get the Team lite speed spool or the BB2 wide spool, I was likeing the look and the specs of the Tournament Lite speed spool but the carbon frame bothers me too much, but I think the one with the aluminum frame like the team model would be great. I agree with you, I love how smooth the zillion is but it is just too heavy with how light todays reels are. I said it before, a Lews TP along with the 2nd generation Revo Premier, and 2 Quantum Smokes makes it hard to use a reel that over 7 ounces anymore. That same deal is what kept me away from Ardent reels, super heavy which eliminates the feel you get with a light rod.
^Bingo!

I'd probably buy the Team Lite. Valley Sports might be able to make you an offer that you can't refuse.
They have a Zillions TWS now that is probably the bees knees. It does weigh 2 oz more and cost a extra $60 then the Lews. Don't get me wrong I love all my Lews reels and there great but Diawa is just to good now.
I forgot to say you can;t get them on TW for some reason even though they have been out. Just google it and you can find it. Or you can do to diawafishing.com and see all there stuff. It all looks so nice.

He was talking about the team lite, not the tournament lite.
Both are great reels but seem like different animals on paper. I would think of which application you intend to use it for and make your decision based on that.

I intend to use it for shallow cranking mostly squarebills and occasionally topwaters in the 1/4-3/4 ounce range. For fast moving applications I like a more compact reel like a shimano 50 size that palms easily. Is the Team Lite more compact than the zillion? I would imagine so based off of what I've heard about both reels and of course the significant weight difference.
I love it. I can't get it to backlash. I wish I bought more of them when they were on sale now I've used it a bit. Drag is smooth, reel is smooth and lite..
I have the LG1H and the TLL1SH and love them both they weigh in at around 5.7oz and are great reels, I have them on a couple of GL2's ...Very comfortable
how do the knobs feel? and r they a little larger than the regular lews knobs?
The paddles are identical on the LG1H,the TLL1SH are cork and foam, some people like them, some don't . I like them ...
Sportsman Outfitters has the LG1H on sale for 139.00 shipped ....
Lews team lite or Shimano curado 200e7? Using it for flipping and topwater. Pretty much my braid rod. Going on a 7'2 Powell endurance. Have a Chronarch on it right now I just don't like the feeling of it. I've heard he curado e's are amazing. But I have the chance to get a team lite and I like the look of silver/white reels on the endurance.
Sorry to bring the topic back to life I just didn't want to have to start a new topic when it's right here haha
I use my lites on my worm and jerk bait rods, on my topwater I use my tournament pro and on my swim-bait I use my BB1 pro....
So you would go curado? I use a curado I for my mono rod. It's basically Texas rigs and spinner baits/chatterbaits.
My worm rod is also my jig rod , So I use the lites , But both reels are great so you can't go wrong with either ......
I launched my top water frogs and field mouse into the next county on my LITE. Worked well for me, but as Carl stated...can't go wrong with either. Both are very nice.
I like the T Pro for almost everything, it's small and light weight and tough. I'm not so sure the Team reel is worth the additional money. American Legacy Fishing has both on sale. $167 & $139.. Lews makes great reels so what ever you decide to buy you will be happy with.
I use a BB1 Pro and a BB1 for cranks and spinner baits. I get seriously long casts with them.
I just nabbed a Team Gold New in box for $159. I was going to do a Tournament Pro, but I couldn't pass that up. Basically the same reel, but I love the ti finish.
Are you talking about the Lews lite speed spool Silver with gold highlites ? The team gold is a spinning reel .......
Love my team gold. I'm very much interested in the team lite.

Cool reel.. Congrats.
Carl
Actually the predecessor to the Team Pro. Now discontinued...but every bit as valid today as they were in 2013.

The team red, team gold, team pro are essentially fancy versions of the tournament pro...though I really do wonder if the Team Pro has a better bearing spec because mine casts to the next county.
The Budget Fisherman: get it...it's nice. Good for anything your Gold may be lacking...and vice versa.
