Best Wall Mart Line 2024

fishing user avatarbass raider reply :

sadly I don't have a good sporting goods store close to me&i don't have the patience for line to be shipped to me(lol) so all I have to choose from for line is what my local wall mart& SMALL sporting goods store carries.heres what they have: stren original, stren super knot, spiderwire ultracast ultimate mono, spiderwire ez-mono,Hi-seas grand slam,Maxima chameleon,Berkley trilene xt,xl & big game & Cajun line red lightnin'.from that sad little list what line would you most likely buy? thanks.

fishing user avatarChrisWi reply :

Grand slam is actually a good line. Give it a try.

fishing user avatarBlues19 reply :

I use a lot of Trilene Big Game. Its a good line for the price

fishing user avatarFishTank reply :

I would say you can't go wrong with any of the Trilene lines available.

fishing user avatarABW reply :

I like Big Game too. They should also sell braided line, you could try that.

fishing user avatarTywithay reply :

Trilene XL

fishing user avatarFelix77 reply :

From that list ... Triene.

fishing user avatarAlonerankin2 reply :

I like the maxima line. I guess it depends on your use, you can pick a soft or hard line out of your list.

fishing user avatarFloridaFishinFool reply :

My WalMart sells power pro too!

fishing user avatarA-Jay reply :

Big game on the economic side and Maxima chameleon on the cost a little more side.

fishing user avatartomustang reply :

You should have red label and power pro. Based off what every walmart I've been in carries, that would be the two choices

fishing user avatarsprint286 reply :

my walmarts cary the red label segar flouro. and I use it for 80% of my fishing . for mono spider wire or triline and for braid power pro

fishing user avatarKDW96 reply :

Ours also has 832, fireline, powerpro slick.

fishing user avatarFloridaFishinFool reply :

Hold on a second... I went back and re-read the OP post and he does not say what type of reel he will be putting it on.

And I just read a fireline suggestion...

I would not recommend fireline- a fused fireline- to be used on a spinning reel. Fused superlines do not do well twisting. Braided line can handle twisting better without fouling up as bad as a fused line can with less twisting.

So I would only recommend Berkley fused Fireline and SpiderWire EZ braid to be used only on a baitcast reel and not on any spinning reels. Just sayin'... from personal experience I have had trouble using fused superlines on spinning reels. I'd go with power pro braid for spinning reels.

I am not against fused superlines by any means. I love Berkley original fused fireline in smoke color around 10 to 12 pound test and no higher so as to not compromise casting distance with a stiffer line. It loosens up some, but nothing like braid loosens up.

fishing user avatarEvanT123 reply :

Big game, suffix and/or power pro. Don't over look wal-Marts free ship to store.

fishing user avatarAngry John reply :

It is weird that the fishing departments can be vastly diffrent store to store.  He may have listed what they have and we are not being helpful saying what they should have.  The ship to store for free is good.  If he is using a spinning reel berkely XL is decent and i have used it a lot for a long time.   Very soft and has some stretch so not great for jigs or large single hook stuff in the rocks and weeds.

fishing user avatargardnerjigman reply :

Trilene. As stated above, if you can wait a day or two, walmart.com some red label site to store and live happily ever after ;)

fishing user avatarlmbfisherman reply :

Trilene and Big Game for me.

fishing user avatarSirSnookalot reply :

If it's spinning I'd go with braid.  About 6 weeks I bought a spool of 10# US Braid at Walmart.  In this period I have been catching 10-15 bass of all sizes daily, that's quite a few fish and whole lot of casts.  I have not had 1 wind knot on the 10#, I normally get them almost everyday.  Until this line proves to be inferior, which doesn't look like it will, it's going to be my line of choice.

fishing user avatarTony L. reply :

Hi Seas Grand Slam is a very high quality line. Trilene would be good too, but probably my second choice.

Trilene XL is actually one of the least stretchy lines on the market, given how well it handles. It has roughly 9%-10% stretch, which is comparable to most fluorocarbons on the market.

fishing user avatarMontanaro reply :

Walmart should carry seaguar. Mine does

fishing user avatarJaheff reply :

I used Stren high impact in 1/4 pound spools for main line and leaders with no problems when I first started bass fishing. My walmart still sells it.

fishing user avatarfrankiebass reply :

My WalMart sells Maxima monofilament, I'd say you can't go wrong with it

fishing user avatarfisherrw reply :

Power pro

fishing user avatarscaleface reply :

I use trilene xl most of the time. The new formula is fantastic. Ive caught quite a few large fish on  12 lb test and it hasnt failed me yet.

fishing user avatarHoosierHawgs reply :

Stren or Trilene. They are both very similar lines

fishing user avatarBlaker87 reply :

What exactly will you be using the line for? That would play a big part. Overall though I have to say trilene. For braid I say power pro if you can find it, I get mine at Walmart.

fishing user avatarbass raider reply :

thanks for all the replies!seems like the majority says trilene is the winner.my wall mart does carry red label,832&power pro but I mostly use monofilament, especially now that I have extra fast action rods as my primary rods.ex-fast action plus braid makes me a little nervous.this line will be for both casting&spinning reels.

fishing user avatarSenko lover reply :

I like Spiderwire, but I don't have a ton of brand experience line-wise.

fishing user avatarflyfisher reply :

just buy whatever you want online.

fishing user avatarbuzzed bait reply :

just buy the trilene xl and be done with it, that is if you're just opposed to braid.  but i would go with the braid personally, then if you ever want to get more versatile, you tie on a leader and start fishing.
