Hey all. I posted this same questionnaire on the Diesel rod and got some good results so I wanted to try this rod too.
To all the Abu Garcia Veritas owners I have a few questions.
Overall how well do you enjoy your rods? I'm really interested in the 7' Medium casting rod.
Any issues with braid or fluoro tearing up the eyelets?
Honestly if you had another 90 bucks and needed another rod, would you get another?
What about the micro guides. Are they worth buying?
How is the backbone on this rod?
Any issues with breakage when ripping a bass out of cover?
Thanks in advance.

x2 I love mine and I abuse the hell out of it not a single issue even after being slammed in the door by my son it was the butt end but still holding strong the clear coat just flaked off and there's a dent now. I used it every single day and I'm ordering 7 more of them this fall great rods for the money and I 2nd the ebay deals there's alot on there BIN new for like 69.99 some are 79.99 depending on the store most are free shipping to boot.
One thing I do not like about this rod is the reel seat, it su**s........ Also when considering micro guides, do not plan to use a Floro leader as the braid to Floro knot will not pass through the guides cleanly.

Thanks alot guys.
What dont you like about the reel seat?
I have found that the reel moves around in the seat, and it never wants to sit in there straigh, and it bugs the heck out of me.

I have a Revo SX mounted on mine and had my Citica on it as well both sat in there just fine and def not loose that's the one thing I love about it. I was used to graphite frames and cheap rods now they always were crooked and would twist and bind on hook sets and just reeling in high resistance lures. My Veritas with Revo or the Citica is rock solid and LIGHT! I cant wait to get the Gen III Revo's on one.
I have 3 of them, 7'3 mh for punching grass mats, I use 65 # pp and a revo s. the reel seat is amaizing IMO once you get the reel in there and tighten it up it will never move. Mine is not the mico guide rod because I do tie leaders sometimes and micro guides are miserable with a leader. And I have pulled some good ones out of hydrilla mats and the rod feels great! I would def buy another one
The real seat is not the best design. I had a 7'3" MH and every time I set the hook the real seat would dig into my finger. By the end of the day it would rub my finger raw. Like someone else said, it didn't seem that secure either. I had to tighten my Revo S down with a set of channel locks due to it feeling loose. Plus, the third week I had it I was on vacation at table rock. Fishing off the dock one afternoon I got a jig hung up in a brush pile in about 20', gave it a couple pops and pulled back a little bit and the rod snapped in two. I was not giving it a ridiculous amount of pressure so I was less than pleased. Luckily basspro took it back, so I got a 7'2" shimano clarus instead.

I remember when they first came out there were a lot of complaints like yours but over the past year now it seems like anyone who buys one is in love with it I think the first batch was defective iv had mine for almost 2 years now fished with it every single day unless there was ice on the water and have used it to push my canoe off the bank when I get stuck some times and have had it rammed into trees and the bank as it hangs off the back of the canoe and I'm not paying attention no issues with it.
Initially I had reel seat problems as people said but once I adjusted the reel it screwed down tightly and doesnt move as it should. The rod, I love it, its probably my favorite rod and people always compliment it. The only downfall is the grip material IMO, I wouldn't call it durable and its kind of weird if the handle gets wet but it wouldn't deter me from buying another
I've had a 7' mh for almost 2 years. It is light and sensitive it feels more stout than my other mh rods. I haven't had any issues with the reel seat or breakage just some wear on the foam grips. I haven't dealt with the microguides on the veritas so I can't help you there, and I would consider getting another one. I have pretty much had flouro on it the whole time with no issues
I had a 7'm and got rid of it and got a 7'6'' mh. Not that it was a bad rod but at the time I didn't have the arsenal I have now and I needed it to do more than a medium rod can do (like throw a spinner) The 7'6'' is one of my favorite rods .
The aluminum threads and nut on the reel seat sometimes "creak" wen I cast
the insert is out of the tip top on mine now but I'm going to take the blame for that by lure retrival...
Never had a reel seat issue on my casting model veritas. The spinning though i have. I couldnt find a reel that would fit it snuggly with out the gap. So i traded it off to a friend for a Skeet Reese Rod (Bad choice on my part). Yea dont ever do that lol.
i absolutely love my Veritas. I noticed the other day that the middle 3 eyes were bent slightly. Thats not the rods fault, i have a gaggle of rods on my front deck and they kind of get abused. I bent them backand have been fine ever since. I can say that the Vendetta has impressed me more than i thought it would. I would have a hard time choosing between my Vendetta and Veritas.

So the medium has is pretty loose? I was hoping for that as I wanted it to throw small jigs and plastics

How thick is the backbone on the Vendetta compared to the Veritas?

Sounds like you will like the 7'M

I have the 6'6" M Vendetta, and it has a ton of backbone.
The medium heavy veritas has the most backbone I've ever had in any medium heavy on the market
As a non-owner/user of Veritas rods I like them alot, and also the Skeet Reese Rods, and Carrot Stix, because when I see a ton of D.B.'s with there hats on backwards, talking like wannabe pros, and a bunch of these rods on there boat decks at a tournament, the chances of me cashing a check are high.
If you buy in store make sure the eyes line up. I bought mine a while ago but a few of them had eyes that where way out of whack.

Now what makes it worse, is I found the Vendettas new for 48 shipped now. Arggg

This was going to help my questions how?
Yep because only ****** bags use these rods, carrot stix, and wright and mcgill's. Great contribution and outstanding post, I am forever in your debt.
Since I fish some with a buddyand going in his boat some,I am always grabbing a hand full of Veristas and placing them in his boat. I have replaced 2 Micro Eyes that have failed by the Inserts coming out of them. Most stores do not have these in stock and they're sometimes hard to find. I have 8 of them now and love them. I can't put them down. I do feel that the MH is sometimes just a M and I have gone to the HEAVY for A rigging.Best $99 Rod on the planetIMHO and yes the rod holder is a Pain and yes the Lure Holder wire Needs adjusting,But I'll live with it>

It wasn't. Just a "D.B" comment.

Where I want one
Does anyone remember a year ago when they had a bad reputation for breaking?
LOL
I have the 6'9" MH micro guide rod. I have only had it a few weeks and I love it!!! I mainly use it for soft plastics but it does pretty well with shallow cranks and spinnerbaits for me. I will be buying more of these rods!!!!!

Any problem with a leader getting hung up with the micro guides?
The 48 dollar Vendetta is the MH or H 7'3"-7'6" models at Academy Sports

I use mine with 14lb mono so I have no clue. The guides are pretty darn small though. I don't think you can go wrong with this rod. As soon as I can afford to, I will be adding more of these to my lineup.

LOL
They still do Ive read 3-4 separate reports of breaks the past 2-3weeks.
And on Abu site in June check the reports of breakage.
http://reviews.abugarcia.com/1202-en_us/312/abu-garcia-veritas-reviews/reviews.htm
I bought three when they first came out and all of them broke I said I'd never get another I now have four and will be getting more they are tough to break now
Vendetta's are also in ebay for 49.99 with free shipping. There is also a Vendetta 2 coming out
Hey, FWIW
I don't own a Veritas, however I do own Abu rods, and my Fav right now is my Vendetta's.
I feel like for what I paid, it has awesome backbone and great sensitivity.
I am waiting to buy any new Abu rods until the Vendetta 2 drops this fall to see if it is worth upgrading to the Veritas, or even the Villain.
I know it shouldn't matter but I don't like the white rod color lol.

That black/white combo looks down right sexy. I was thinking a winch reel with those black and white reel grips lol.
