Braid Line Color 2025

fishing user avatarJigMe reply :

I wanted to get an idea what color Braided line everyone use, and if you are using high-vis line please tell us if you feel any difference from using the low-vis lines. thanks for your input guys.

fishing user avatarmichang5 reply :

I use high-viz yellow PowerPro Super 8 Slick. Didn't see it as a choice.

It has really helped me with catching light-hitting fish that just pick up the lure and swim away, which seems to be about a third of the time given the light/finesse stuff I throw.

Edit: I do use a fluorocarbon leader.

fishing user avatarOkeechobeeAngler reply :

Mossy green power pro for me.

Yellow is on there now

fishing user avatar5dollarsplash reply :

I believe I have all of those on one reel or another.  I don't think it makes a monumental differance, if any, to my catch rate.  Clear water folks may have different results, but I use what I find on sale, or, what is easy to see if its for a technique that requires a more closely watched line.

fishing user avatarDarren. reply :

Hi-vis yellow + leader. Want to see my line as I'm primarily a soft-plastics fisherman.

fishing user avatarColdSVT reply :

I have most of em lol

I used the different colors in different test.

yellow was 20, green was 30 white was 35, and red was 65 lol

fishing user avatarDr. Watson reply :

Green Suffix 832 for me!

which brand hi-vis yellow do you use? I am looking at the sx1 high-vis yellow, any experience with it?

fishing user avatarJig Man reply :

Hi Vis yellow or white Power pro.  If I think I need it I'll use a marker on the first 3' but only in super clear water.  I hate to fish with guys who use the green or smoke and get hung up and expect me to see their line and get the boat so that they can get unsnagged.

PowerPro in 10lb for spinning, 20lb for baitcasting.

Haven't used sx1, but have used other brands including Berkley, Sufix, Spiderline, among others.

Just happen to prefer regular PP over the others. Likely will try more stuff as time goes by...

fishing user avatarww2farmer reply :

Green Power Pro for me.

fishing user avatarAmarley reply :

Brown powerpro

fishing user avatarA-Jay reply :

Low Vis Green for me.

It just works.

fishing user avatarLoop_Dad reply :

Hi-vis yellow Power Pro. I wish they make 'fluorescent' colored braid.

fishing user avatarScott F reply :

I use the black (smoke) Fireline.

fishing user avatarAvaitor63 reply :

I use PowerPro Moss Green, very good line

fishing user avatarRoLo reply :

Chartreuse & Black

Berkley Fireline Tracer Braid (no leader)

The colors are alternated in 30-inch bands to help the angler see the ultra-fine braid (fish love this color-combination)

(Line color is on my top priority list, just beneath my doomsday prepper list  :-)

I got a spool from ***.com, Sufix call it Ghost color but it is actually white. You can easily see it above the water, and I have 10lb on a spinning reel.

fishing user avatargr8outdoorz reply :

Hi-vis yellow for me too. Too many subtle takes. Got to be able to see my line.

fishing user avatarmnbassman23 reply :

Green PP or Green Sunline FX2 with no leader.

fishing user avatarTeam9nine reply :

I didn't see "all of the above" as an option :eyebrows:  I've used them all with equal success on my waters. Anymore, I move more and more toward the brighter colors (neon lime, yellow, chartreuse) for their added visibility benefit. About the only time I go low vis now days is where I don't need to see where or what my line is doing, such as when frogging.

This pretty much sums it up for me also.

suppose you could take sufix ghost braid, buy wide tipped permanent fluorescent markers, cut a notch in it, run the line through a casts worth of yardage and make it the color of your choice?

Did you get the 12lb or 16lb? what is that in diameter compare to mono? It doesn't say on their website, hopefully it is close to 4-5lb compare to mono.

I have the 16 and it's thin about the size of power pro 10# which is 2# I think don't hold me to it though

cool, let me know after your fishing trip.

fishing user avatarNick49 reply :

I like Power Pro.  For spinner bait, chatter bait, buzz bait rigs I use 30 lb low vis green with a 12 lb mono leader.  For pitching jigs, t-rigged worms/creatures and soft plastics I use 30 lb hi vis yellow and a 4 or 5 ft fluoro leader.  For spinning rigs I use 15 lb hi vis yellow for drop shotting, shakey heads and other finese presentations - always with 4 - 5 ft, 8 - 10 lb fluoro leader.  *For deeper water jigs/worms I prefer 12 - 15 lb fluoro, rather than braided line.   I don't think visibility is an issue but I like the idea of dealing with occasional hangups/breakoffs with mono or fluoro rather than the braided line.

fishing user avatarGaterB reply :

I'm about to try out the Timber Brown PP Slick 8. Usually use green though

fishing user avatarfishingman88 reply :

I use JDM Metered Multicolored Line for braid when I have it available.  I love that it is a different color every 10 meters.  (FYI, this is not jigging line, it is all purpose metered braid).  Plus it looks aesthetically pleasing.

But for normal usage, I prefer either a red or hi viz yellow.

fishing user avatarSmallmouth Hunter reply :

You don't have to buy expensive metered, multicolored JDM braid when you can just buy camo sufix 832. Great line.

In fact, academy was selling the 150 yard packs for $6.50 each not too long ago at my local store. I picked up a few.

fishing user avatarRoLo reply :

Despite the few line-colors listed in the poll, you will notice that nearly every color in the rainbow has been mentioned.

This only reaffirms the fact that line color is the fisherman's choice, and has little to do with line invisibility or fish preference.
