Talking about on a baitcaster here. I am not talking about punching or flipping a jig or something. Say on a 7' Med Fast rod and a reel with say 30 IPT. I am talking about T-rigging a worm, hula grub, a rage bug, possibly something with a little more movement like a fluke. You using mono, fluoro or braid? What pound strength? Is there a prevailing thought here or is it all just personal preference?
16# Sniper in moderate cover
20# Shooter in heavy cover
Mike
Personal preference: for what you describe Id use 14/16 sniper for light to moderate cover.
Light to moderate cover I shoot with my Trion loaded with 12# FC
Heavier cover it's the President with 20# Braid...no leader
30 lb braid to a 12-16 lb fluorocarbon leader dependent upon the type of cover.
My worm rod has 17lb clear blue fluorescent Trilene xl . Its .015 inches in diameter . When line watching I like the lines that glow from UV light then disappears under water .
12-17 pound fluoro, depending on what rod, bait and cover, another vote for Sniper.
40# yellow Power Pro with 8-10# YZH leader
Berkley Big Game 15# ????
For a jig or Texas rig I use Sunline Super Florocarbon 12#.
8-17lb stren purple.
Or
10-15lb seguar fluorocarbon.
On a leader tied to 6-20lb braid. I only fish braid main line for all fishing.

This is how I do it too around anything besides grass and pads. In the grass & pads I will just go with straight braid to eliminate additional snag points.
50 lb (easy for me to see) Yellow Power Pro and 12 lb Big Game mono leader.
Usually Cajun Red 14lb Monofilament ; but I also like PLine CXX 10 to 15lb and Spiderwire Ultimate Mono 10 -14lb
15lb seaguar invizx or 15 lb cxx.
Big Game 12lb or 15lb.

Same for me.
I like braid to FC leader on many set-up. I also use sniper 10-15 lbs
#12 and #15 Seaguar Tatsu
Last two seasons, plain old Trilene XL 12 lb mono.
This season I'm trying YZH 12 lb hybrid/copoly just to see how it works out.
30lb Power Pro braid w/ 12 or 15 lb Seaguar Red Label leaders.
30 lb Sufix 832 braid + 10 lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid leader..
12lb Seaguar Invizx
40# 832 & 12# Sniper FC, 50# 832 & 20# Sniper FC
14# Sunline Sniper mostly for me depending on cover.
12 lb P-line tactical fluorocarbon
15lb Big Game.

Think I might try Tatsu this year.
berkley big game green, cajun red, suffix superior clear and ande green...mono. ... 12 lb. test baitcaster ...10 lb. spinning ... 80 percent of the time ...
good fishing ...
12 or 15lb big game. 8lb xl or 15lb braid in spinning rod
I like the InvizX and AbrazX, but Tatsu is best line I have ever fished.
15lb big game with a 75yd 15lb trilene 100% fluro leader ????

I gave Tatsu a try this fall and I swear it breaks more easily then a comparable diameter Invizx. I wonder if the added stretch from the Invizx is making it seem stronger? I keep meaning to test them with a luggage scale but have never gotten around to it.

Hmm....
I have NEVER been broken off using Tatsu.

Oh, I meant when breaking off when snagged. My goal last season was to become more fearless when fishing jigs, so I ended up breaking off a lot of 15lb Invizx. When I switched to Tatsu it seemed like it took less force to break it off, but I don’t know how much stretch affects my perception of how much force I am putting on the line.
I never lost a fish on Tatsu but it did seem to break off easily when I was snagged. I stick with sunline sniper 14-20lb for bottom contact presentation.
30lb Sufix braid to 12lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid.
12lb Big Game. Big Game is about the only mono I use. Strong, tough, and cheap. The memory is excessive for some out there, but I haven't found it to be problematic.
What line I use depends on what I'm fishing. I'll tie up a T-rig on any of my setups, which could have anything from 6# fluoro to 80# braid. General purpose would be 12-15# fluoro or 50# braid.
