Product reviews of KastKing Folding Fillet/Fishing/Camping/Hunting Knife, Razor Sharp G4116 German Stainless-Steel Blade, Non-Slip Handles, 13 ½ inch Overall Length, only 7 ½ inch Folded, Includes Sheath
william : Sharp and compact
First fried catfish in awhile thanks to Kast King! I love the folding filet knife. It was sharper than expected and it saves space in my tackle back pack.
Daniel G. : Very nice...
The knife is really nice, feels great in my hand.. neautidul color, easy to take and very sharp. Got it to cut bato for fishing and to cut the fish. Loved it.
PMR : Great knife for backpacking, canoeing, etc.
The pictures show this knife side-by-side with my beloved folding Buck brand knife that has accompanied me on multiple trips to the Canadian wilderness. They both have very comfortable rubberized grips, but I really like the contoured shape of the KastKing knife better. The Buck knife is build like a tank and weighs almost an ounce more than the KastKing, so only time will tell if the KastKing can withstand the abuse the Buck knife has over the years. It seems sturdy for as lightweight as it is.
One major plus of the KastKing knife is that it comes with a very durable sheath with thick Velcro closure and a big accommodating belt loop on the back. I don't plan to carry this knife on my side, but it will definitely find itself attached to the outside of a backpack! We keep our fillet knife tucked away in a pack so it doesn't get lost - a nightmare on a 10 day wilderness trip when you eat fish daily - but the option to keep this knife safely external on a pack is going to be a nice alternative that I look forward to.
As for cutting ability - I have not tested it, yet. In my experience, fillet knives all hold a sharp edge - its just a matter of how well the edge holds up to filleting pike and big lake trout day after day. My Buck knife uses 420J2 steel - which is pretty much crap for a fillet knife though extremely corrosion resistant. I have gotten good at sharpening it over the years though it is not fun. This Kastking is 416 stainless - which is superior to 420J2. The KastKing knife also has a slightly thinner blade, which makes it more flexible and easier to work with.
This was not intended to be a comparison of 2 knives, but it seemed to be a easy way to review a knife I only recently bought as I have LOVED my Buck knife over the years and have even given several away as presents. But this KastKing at 30% cheaper, lighter, more portable, and made of superior steel is my new knife of choice.
Chris : Great filet knife!
Just like the Kastking baitcast reel, you get a surprisingly great product for a fraction of the cost of other name brands. I enjoy how sharp the edge stays and that I can just fold it up and drop it in my bag without having to keep in a cover.
Jerry Luong : Really sharp
Super sharp and very comfortable to hold.
Rodolfo I Pedraza : Just what I was looking for
Just received it today , first impression looks sturdy , definitely sharp , and super portable. Another thing is that it’s pretty light. Can’t wait to take it out and test it. Will post an update later on how it does.
LSire : Bent blade
It’s hard to see the bend in the photo but the blade came bent, and it wasn’t ground evenly on both sides. It’s not very sharp at all, from the reviews that I’ve seen so far, people have had nothing but good things to say about it.
I can almost get behind them because it’s comfortable, bright, convenient, sturdy, seems to have a decent heat treat( I cannot bend the blade back), they just need a little bit better quality control, to not let a bent blade out of their doors. And to make sure it gets a proper edge put on it, considering it’s supposed to filet fish/game and cut through rib bones and whatnot. Giving 3 stars because everything that makes this a knife I have something to complain about but at least it has a decent Heat treat.
LORI : Fit for the bigger hand
This is a big, clunky knife. The handle is molded to fit bigger hands. The opened length is very long. The blade doesn't offer much flex as a fillet knife should. I expected the blade to be sharper as well. It is heavy in the hand. On the plus side, the belt pouch is a good fit. For the price, it is just okay. It comes beautifully boxed for gifting. I gave it a 3 because of how the knife feels in the hand. I use filet knives a lot in my kitchen. I wanted one to travel.
Dana A. : Must have
This thing slides across fish like a knife it butter
john : Very convenient.
I used this knife to cut a lady fish for bait and it worked beautifully. Would have given it 5 stars but it needs some sharpening before you begin to use it. Love the fact that it can fold to save space.
wade towery : Prefect for hiking and camping
Excellent the product i want for carrying with on camping trips, folds down nice a small, carrying case was a bonus wasn't expected it at that price.
Rodolfo I Pedraza : Just what I was looking for
Just received it today , first impression looks sturdy , definitely sharp , and super portable. Another thing is that it’s pretty light. Can’t wait to take it out and test it. Will post an update later on how it does.
Jeasy Wilson : Great constructed knife
It is light to carry. Appears to be very well constructed. Has razor sharp blades. Seems pretty well balanced all around. Comes with a case to loop around belt.
Tony Onay : For a real fillet knife that folds, try Kastking!
Excellent foldable fillet knife. Flexible blade that works great for getting the most meat from the fish. Really good ergonomic design that fits my hand well and it comes with a safety lock to keep the blade from folding while using it. Small enough to fit in my small tackle bag when folded. I highly recommend for all fisherman and campers.
Kyle Fancher : Compact and balanced
The blade is sharp and it seems to be sturdy. The handle feels long at first, but it actually balances very nicely when the blade is extended and ready to use. This knife folds down to less than half the size of my Bubba blade so I’ll probably take this filet knife with me on my kayak and leave the Bubba for use at home.
Amazon Customer : Great knife, easy to keep always on hand.
When packing light to go fishing it is always hard to find a spot in my tackle bag for a full size knife. This folding knife solves that problem! It’s plenty sharp right out of the box and based on my experience with Kastking’s other knives I know it will hold it’s edge well. It is very comfortable in hand and quit easy to open and close. I really like the belt holster as well. I will probably buy another to keep in my second bag.
tsev : I have butter knives sharper than this!
I was so excited to get this knife in time for my weekend fishing trip! Unfortunately, when I opened the package and checked out the blade, I immediately noticed that this is the dullest knife I have ever received. EVER...and it's supposed to be a filet knife!! The company's claims about it being razor sharp are just that...claims. The only thing this knife would be good for is spreading butter. This is too bad because the overall size, foldability, and handle are great. I saw other I reviews regarding lack of quality control but hoped I would luck out and get a good one. The knife I received must have skipped over the sharpening station in the factory. This will be returned.
Jipsy Rose : Nice fillet knive! Great value!
This fillet knive is very nice! A great value. It has a sturdy, thick handle and blade. It folds making for a nice fit in the tackle box. Also comes with a sheath so it can be carried on ones belt. Too cool!
?!? : Grandson's Joy
Folding feature perfect for the tackle box. Blade styled just right to help a novice filet-er do his work.
Roxan F. : Nice sleek design
Holster could have been much better. Had a flaw on the tip, so bought a new one. Besides that I would recommend, though have not had the chance to use it yet
LSire : Bent blade

Giving 3 stars because everything that makes this a knife I have something to complain about but at least it has a decent Heat treat.
Dustin : Nice folder
Excellent little knife, especially for the money. Needs to be sharpened out of the box, but most knives do. No complaints.
YJJ : Great product for the price
Bought this knife to fillet fish. Love this knife. Versatile, compact, lightweight, and very sharp. Great product for the price!
Sterling : Great Folding Knife!
In full disclosure I got this knife for free as part of a KastKing loyalty program. The blade is sharp and thin, great for filleting. It is easy to open and locks in place securely. I saw some comments about the blade being bent so I looked at mine. There is a VERY slight bend in the blade that I wouldn't have noticed unless I was looking for it. I haven't had a chance to use it as a filleting knife yet but I have used it around the kitchen just to try it out. I'll update my review if I find any issues. I haven't found a reason to give it less than 5 stars.
Miguel Garcia : Great Value
This is perfect. It’s ergonomic and well built. It came already sharpened. Case is nice as well as locking mechanism. I like the fact that is foldable so it is easy to carry on until needed.
Tuffy and Jen : Excellent quality
Great quality as expected! Spectacular craftsmanship. Will use this knife in home and out on a day of good fishing! By far one of the nicest filet knives I have owned. And will be able to use with my boys for years to come.
Charlie D : Space saving foldable fillet knife includes a belt pouch.
The overall construction is excellent and the foldability allows for space saving and keeps the blade safe. Stainless steel hardware and coated blade should allow to handle the harshness of the saltwater fishing environment. I like the feel of the knife especially the textured and curved handle. It fits well in my hand. The blade lock feels secure and safe plus the blade springs closed when folding the blade back in. A durable pouch is included with Velcro closure and a belt loop. The blade is thick but still allows a decent bend to clean fish fillets. I would recommend this fillet knife for anyone who wants a well built compact fillet knife.
Ulises Higareda : If you love knife your need one of this
Man this is A+ gorgeous
Brian : Quality
Like always for kastking, great quality item for the money. Love it
Michael Pakulski : Unusable it is so dull.
This knife was so poorly ground that it’s edge was nonexistent. The effort it would take to properly sharpen it outweighs the effort needed to return it. As one reviewer said, “I have butter knives sharper than this knife.”
Jon Steigerwaldt : Well Made
Sharp, well made, durable, love it for the price. Great buy.
txmedic1 : So sharp!
Literally the sharpest knife I’ve ever seen. I have many knives, from cooking to tactical to fishing, and this knife by far is the sharpest right out of the box, that I’ve ever seen. The rubberized grip is a great also, which will help while cleaning fish.
Emma : Money well spent!
I have been a loyal customer for over a year now! This company stands by their product and that is a rarity these days! the craftmanship is A+ and so far I have nothing to complain about! This is money well spent!
Braden Schut : Starts sharp, and stays sharp
This knife is sharp! It made short work of some bluegill I caught. I never had to sharpen it while I was filleting fish. I would highly recommend this knife.
Amazon Customer : Refund Please
Don’t get me wrong I loved it for the one time use I had was very stable n sharp but today I went to cut up a fish and took it out the Case it comes in and the blade was not locking in place and closing I love this product and don’t wanna give it a bad review I just want another one if possible
Mason : Good knife think again mister
No need for pictures item came just as pictured in advertisement. On second note I didn't buy this knife for fileting fish. I bought it for self protection. It fits slimy into my pocket is light weight and a blade that can allow for intimidation to be a factor in self defense encounters. It's sharp could be sharper but that's perspective it cuts and continues to cutting straight out of the box. Good knife great price would buy again but as long as I don't lose it I won't have to cause it's that good.

Amazon Customer : This knife is a great value
The knife filets fish really well. The weight of the tool is perfect for the job. I filet a limit of sea trout and some mangrove snapper. It performed top notch

First fried catfish in awhile thanks to Kast King! I love the folding filet knife. It was sharper than expected and it saves space in my tackle back pack.
Ellie???? : Great gift
Bought this for my father in law and he LOVES it! He is a hard-core fisherman and so far it holding up great!

This knife folds down to less than half the size of my Bubba blade so I’ll probably take this filet knife with me on my kayak and leave the Bubba for use at home.
Dakota : Stiffer style fillet knife
Very nice fillet knife it’s a stiffer style so if your looking for a more flexible one this may not be the one you want, but has plenty of blade for just about any fish you may catch and very comfortable to use with very good grip, and came almost razor sharp couple swipes on a ceramic rod and could shave with it
john : Very convenient.
I used this knife to cut a lady fish for bait and it worked beautifully. Would have given it 5 stars but it needs some sharpening before you begin to use it. Love the fact that it can fold to save space.
Customer : Wow! Very impressed, wasn’t expecting!
Impressed! I’m a knife guy, live knives and have a lot. I wanted a folding filet for my tackle bag and for $20 and good reviews I bought this. Very impressed for $20! Razor sharp with perfect edge along whole blade, slight flex as expected for a thin filet knife but very solid at the fold with little flex at the joint. Quality! Haven’t used yet, will report back to see how long it holds a blade and how it re sharpens.
?!? : Grandson's Joy
Folding feature perfect for the tackle box. Blade styled just right to help a novice filet-er do his work.
Amazon Customer : It's a big handle...
I forgot that I bought this knife, and I have since lost it, so I have no idea how it cuts fish. The handle is very large (which makes sense because it has to fit the blade), but I'd recommend measuring out 7.5" before ordering and decide if you really want that large of a handle on a fillet knife.
I'll update the review if I ever find the knife, catch a fish, fillet the fish, and remember to update.
