Okuma's baitfeeding system allows anglers to disengage their spinning reel spool and allow their bait to run freely. The baitfeeding system incorporates a secondary micro-adjustable drag system at the rear of the reel that allows for precise adjustment of the spool for bait control.

In order to disengage this system simply turn the handle. The On/Off lever on the rear of the reel will automatically disengage the baitfeeding system so you can fight your fish with the main drag system

What’s the difference in a 40b and a 4000 reel?

Answer: The ABF-1000 is an ultra light reel which is too small for 40 lb line.

Answer: I have a 4000 with 30 lbs braid so I'd say yes if its braided line

Does anyone have instructions installing fishing line? No instructions were provided.

Answer: You can secure monofilament line directly to the spool with a variety of knots. I use a slip knot and small piece of tape to secure the line to the spool. Once the line is secured to the spool you can reel the line in. Make sure the label of the line you are using is facing up and keep tension on the line. I would also recommend threading the line through at least one eyelet of your rod that you will be using with the reel. Make sure you don’t put too much line on the reel because that will cause problems when fishing. Line capacity for both monofilament and braid are listed on the reel.

J & J : Second one, for night fishing

I bought one of these years ago and it’s the perfect reel for night fishing. No more trying to set your line on rocks and cans to know if you got a hit. The “second drag”, as I call it, gives very little resistance and will sound off if something picks it up. Just ordered another.

I like this reel well enough, but the old avenger models are so much better. Not sure why they changed it. There is now a significant gap between the spool seat and the spool. This seems to be popular in new Okuma models, and I cannot for the life of me understand why. The line consistently gets in the gap, goes under the spool, and starts wrapping around the gears. Incredibly frustrating. Especially considering that I could count the times that happened to older models without the gap on one hand.
