product description
The Ballistic LT series of spinning reels were designed lighter and stronger in a more compact package. The strength of the Zaion housing is an example of the LT design concept of Light but Tough. At the heart of the reel is a machined Aluminum Alloy DIGIGEAR designed for smoothness, strength and durability. The main shaft utilizes the Magseal, which prevents water and debris intrusion. The reel is long-casting and extremely smooth employing a 7 Bearing System. With models ranging from 1000 to 6000 size the Ballistic LT line of spinning reels are designed for a wide range of gamefish incorporating many different techniques. The Ballistic LT series of reels is a prime example of Daiwa’s commitment to the LT Concept of modern spinning reel design, smaller, lighter yet stronger.

Questions about Daiwa Ballistic LT Freshwater Left/Right Hand Spinning Reel
Q:
I just received my new ballistic 2500d-xh and there was a small bag of flat washers in it. could someone tell me where these go? thank you.
Answer: They are not washers they are shims. For putting under the spool to change the line lay on retrieve. Even lay, Bottom of the spool, Top of the spool.
Answer: They are to make adjustments to your spool. Not the drag but for line lay. If for some reason your line isn't spooling along the bottom or putting and a little more than you like around the top add a washer then another til it lays the way you want it. I have a few daiwa reels and have never needed them.
Answer: Those are just replacement drag washers.
Answer: They are replacement washers.
Answer: Those are the line lay washers, only use if you need them, they go under the spool on the main shaft. Once you start to spool line of the line bunches up to high on the spool you would add one or two to get the line even on the spool. If it bunches on the bottom you would remove any that are already installed. You can google “spinning reel line lay” to view some images
Answer: The super thin washers are for spacing the knob on the handle (if its isn't to your liking) and if there are larger ones they would be for spacing out the spool if it isn't taught on the pin it sits on, however these also come with the lower end reels, so its very likely you wont need either of them.
Answer: They're to place under the spool if it loads line too heavily high or low as you're filling it. I suspect they're mentioned in the included manual.
Q:
Is this daiwa ballistic 3000d-cxh series?
Answer: No
Q:
Is this not left and right hand orientation??
Answer: The reel can be switched to either right or left hand
Answer: Yes. It is. It can be right and or left
Answer: Yes, it can be installed on either side of the Reel. Awesome Reel, you can’t go wrong with buying one. Tight Lines!
Answer: Handle can be used on either side.
Q:
Does it allocated the line inverted cone like " /" or the opposite like "/ "?
Q:
Is this jot left and right hand orientation?
Q:
How much 30 lb braid will a 4000 spool
Answer: 300+
Q:
what type of drag does this real have? not how many pound... is it the as smooth as the BG?
Answer: Depends on the size of the reel I believe the 4000 and up is like 27 lbs. this reel is way smoother than the bg
Q:
Is this brand new in sealed box?
Answer: Mine was
Q:
will the 6000 model be able to catch big fish over 60lbs from a kayak?
Answer: The 6000 is a relatively small reel. Fish over 60 lbs would be pushing it. However with the right rod and drag setting anything is possible.
Answer: You might be pushing it i have the 5000 and it struggles to pull out fish about 20 pounds i fish bonito and yellow tail
Answer: Yes, with a properly set drag you should be able to catch fish that size.
Answer: Absolutely! It’s light but powerful with a great drag! Go get ‘em
Q:
Do these reels run big for their number? ie...the BG series 1500 is comparable to other brands 2500 series reels.
Answer: They actually run smaller. That is why they are so light
Q:
does the 6000d retreive less line per turn than the smaller sizes why is that?
Answer: Depends on the model. It's the gear ratios. Some want a faster retrieve for certain lures and slower for others so several of the sizes come in different ratios for that reason. The 6000 size I would assume would be mostly used for vertical jigging, trolling/drifting, or soaking bait so a faster retrieve isn't necessary
Q:
Is this not left and right hand orientation?!
Answer: Yes right and or left
Q:
What is the difference of daiwa ballistic lt 6000d-c vs. daiwa ballistic lt 6000 d
Answer: I don’t think there is any difference. Looks to me like Daiwa only makes one Ballistic LT version of the 6000 series. Unlike the 2500D and the 2500D-XH. Difference between these two is gear ratio. I own a 2500D-XH model, only difference is it has a quicker retrieve. Use it for top water lures in saltwater for redfish and Snook. See this video for the 6000: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XRDwgvTy8ZU
Answer: There is only one 6000 reel and it is BLSLT6000D-C, this C means compact.
Answer: I think the reel is called cd
Q:
Is this reel made in Japan?
Answer: No it is made in China
Q:
Would this reel be ok for saltwater also? not sure if i should pick this or the daiwa saltist. which is better? saltist is cheaper.
Answer: Yes it is one of the smoothest and lightest saltwater reels on the market. Rinse with fresh water after salt water use. I have a 2500 paired with St Croix inshore Avid and it weighs 10.6 oz.
Answer: Both are very nice reels, and yes it's okay to use the ballistic for saltwater.
Q:
Is the current stock for sale from the upgraded version after 2019 which was made saltwater ready?

Can i use it for saltwater ?
Answer: Yes, this reel is ideal for light saltwater fishing. I use mine on a 9 foot plugging rod.
Answer: Straight from the description
Q:
How much 15lb Power Pro can it have on it?
Answer: j-braid x8 15lb can fit 150 meters
Answer: Don't know for sure, but it can hold 160 yards of 12lb Mono
Answer: About 200 m (apr. 220 yards)
Q:
It was my understanding that the new daiwa ballistic lt is a saltwater capable reel. it's being advertised here as freshwater only. am i incorrect.
Answer: I have this reel in 400 size. Got it at a show after speaking with Daiwa people. So I use it both salt and fresh water without much of a problem. Daiwa guys told me that it is safe to use it in salt water as long as you do not go swimming with it. So do not dunk it, wash it and you will be OK. I pulled out some big blues with this reel and gave a ride to a few proper size sting rays. On a side note, this reel does not feel like a tank, so be gentle with it. Have fun, eat fish
Answer: ⦁ Designed for freshwater, inshore and offshore applications.
Answer: It is sealed, so you should be fine

TheMass33 : Smooth, Durable, and Lite.
I have the 1000 and the 3000. I spooled them with Florida Fishing Products Ghost Grey Braid. I have landed 3 foot sharks, a 40lb cow nose ray, Snook, redfish, and plenty of Trout. And they are both smooth as butter. I fish the flats and wanted something lite and tuff. And Daiwa knocked it out of the park with this model. When I come home I clean them with bottled water and pat them dry. No problem. All I use is this now and my Shimano Sustain 3000. That’s it. If I had to shoes between the ballistic lt and or my sustain. I’m going with the LT. That magseal is bulletproof.
Michael Padilla : Good with some bad
Would have been a very nice reel but the one 1 got made so much noise when turning the handle, sound like plastic on plastic rubbing on each other and very squeeky sound. handle was uncomfortable I ended up replacing it. but its very light. only time will tell if it will last

Anthony : Super light!
This is by far lightest reel in this size (3000) I have ever owned. The action is super smooth. This will make a day of casting for hours a breeze! Only fished a couple times with it so far, but I am very impressed with my first Diawa. Have owned many others brands before.
Update. I have fished this reel through two fishing seasons both walleye and steelheading and it performed flawlessly. Everyone who picked up my rod and reel could not believe how light was. That was the first comment from everyone!! and how super smooth it was! Could not be happier with this reel and plenty of easy cranking power.
GinaJ : Going Ballistic!
I can’t say enough about this reel. Super lightweight and very ridged. It is the smoothest reeling reel I’ve ever owned. And this is one thing where I can definitely say “ You get what you pay for!”
Ed T. : Fantastic reel
I now have two of these reels. I use them on my boat for trolling, from the shore for catfish and lake trout. Very durable and smooth.
Calculated Chaos : Smooth, Durable reel with solid drag
LT.... Light and Tough, well, Daiwa was not kidding when they said this.
Very light yet durable. Cast like a dream and solid drag when hooked up with fish.
You can definitely fish with confidence with this reel not matter what you fish for.
This reel doesn’t lack anything compared to Shimano Stradic Ci4 series.
Michael A. Cardenas : Daiwa Ballistic LT Boom!!!
Daiwa Ballistic LT — Smooth as butter even better than its Older Brother Daiwa Ballistic EX. Personally own 1 Daiwa Ballistic LT 2500, 1 Daiwa Ballistic LT 4000, and 3 Daiwa Ballistic EX 2500. Best reels for inshore saltwater fishing.

Amazon Customer : Light
Light, very light, and does its job. Need more fishing time to tell its durability.
Amazon Customer : Mixed feelings/results
Hopefully my experience is an outlier. First Daiwa product for me. Purchased the 2500D model for inshore saltwater fishing, spooled it with 10# Spiderwire Ultracast and paired with a G. Loomis GLX JWR 852 (originally paired with a St Croix Avid Inshore 7’ ML). I grew up a Penn guy then branched out to Shimano and have been very happy with them for years, but wanted to try something from Daiwa. Having owned two of the first gen Stradic Ci4’s which I had great experiences with, I had very high expectations for this reel and upon spooling they were not met. The line lay was simply pathetic (see photos). It wasn’t until I removed one of the plastic shims under the spool that it improved and even now, I would say it could be better. The reel came with two shims under the spool and I had to remove one of them to get the line to lay better. I think it could be even better if I removed the last shim, but you’re not supposed to do that so that’s as far as I can go. Needless to say, I was very disappointed that this reel was not ready to fish out of the box after being spooled. Moreover, the handle knob has slight play to it. While subtle, it still is kind of annoying. For what I paid for this reel I expected both of those issues to not be present. While the Ci4 has it beat in terms of line lay and no handle play, this reel does have the Mag seal on the main shaft so it is better peace of mind for the saltwater fishing I do, especially wading. I’m going to keep the reel and see how it feels after more months of fishing and exposure, and while I hate to say it, in the back of my mind I am thinking that if the next Ci4 has better sealing I will sell this and buy that. Personally, at this point in time, I would rather have the regular Stradic.
Chris Miguel : Impressed!!
Awesome reel! Unbelievable power for a tiny frame.
Vp49 Tacco : Smoooooth!
Have two of the 1000 models. Everything to like about this reel. Smoothest I ever owned!

Cornheiser : Handles big trout with confidence
I've owned Shimanos forever but thought I'd try the : BLSLT2500D-XH. I was hesitant but after one big brown trout after another with no issues, I was very pleased. I even took it steelhead fishing and it got a workout but it held up. My spare reel will definitely be a Daiwa.
