Questions about LEW'S Fishing Tournament Pro Speed Spool LFS Series
Q:
Where is reel manufactured
Answer: My reel says Korea
Answer: China
Q:
Where is it made?
Q:
Is manual included
Answer: Lew's website says a manual is included but the supplier I bought from sent me a reel without one. Down loaded manual from Lew's website.
Answer: Manual????? If you are meaning the paper that comes with them then there should be in every box of reel
Answer: Yes.
Answer: Yes.
Q:
Right handed lew's tournament pro speed spool lfs baitcast reel
Q:
I see there are two options here. First shows definitely as "right hand retrieval" is the second option for "left hand retrieval"?
Answer: Be careful... the selections are both right hand retrieve... one is 31inch and the other is 35inch retrieve.... the comparison chart leads you to believe if you select the blue text under the left hand models that the purchase page will bring you to a left hand model... it does not... I've learned my lesson by assuming one was right so the other had to be left... wrong... Amazon couldn't cancel my purchase 5 full days before the expected delivery date
Answer: As far as I know there is a right hand retrieve and a left hand retrieve. So I would assume that the second option in your case could be left hand retrieve. Would have to see actual information. If the option has a lower price then that could be the reason. I suggest you contact seller to get actual answer.
Answer: The left hand models have an L in the model number.
Q:
What lb drag capacity does this reel have?
Answer: Printed on the box: Max 20 lb.
Answer: 20lb is what is in the description
Q:
What gear ratio is it doesn’t say on here and lews web site has three different gear ratios for this one
Answer: go to tackle warehouse with the model number
Q:
Can use in saltwater fishing
Q:
Can this reel be used in saltwater?
Answer: I would say yes. But you should, like with any reel, clean and oil after using in salt water. I not familiar with any reels that are made to be protected from salt water.
Answer: Yes, just rinse well after use
Answer: Doubt it
Q:
Does this reel already comes lubricated or do i have to apply oil and grease once i get this reel?
Answer: yes it does and comes with a bottle for later
Q:
this reel says right hand in description but the tp1shla model is a left hand retreive which i want. which is it? left or right hand retrieve?
Answer: The comparison chart leads you to believe that if you click under the TP1SHLA it then takes you to another item... should be the TP1SHLA but it is not... just found out I purchased a right hand model... not the left hand model I actually wanted... Amazon should change the comparison chart
Answer: Right
Q:
In the description this shows right hand but the part number is a left hand. Is it right or left?
Answer: If you go to Lews.com and find the new Pro you can find the number for it. It will have numbers for both left and right. The left hand model number is PSP1XHL and the right hand is PSP1XH. If the seller doesn't indicate with model number then you might need to contact seller to find out.
Answer: Right hand
Answer: The picture show right you would have to e mail the seller. Good reel !!!
Q:
Can you use braid for the tp1sha
Answer: Yes I have 30lb braid on mine and it casts just fine.
Answer: Yes
Q:
What does it mean by size difference between 28 and 31? I know it’s bigger but by what?
Answer: the difference between 28 and 31 is the line retrieve per turn.
Q:
Can it cast lighter lures?
Answer: I typically use a 3/8 oz. weight and a 7" culprit worm. That's not much weight and it casts great. Haven't tried something as small as a Mep's spinner, but should perform well. I have 4 Lew's reels in my arsenal, and simply enjoy all of them
Answer: It can cast lighter lures if braking Sys is set correctly. If your light is a crappie jig your better off using a spinning reel.
Answer: Yes. I normally I use crankbaits with this reel.
Q:
Can this reel be used with 6lb to 8lb mono line?
Answer: It could but not sure what your fishing for but i have braid on mine and if i need to be more discrete with fish in clear water i tie on mono or fluorocarbon leader
Q:
What gear ratio is the best for jigs and worms
Answer: 7.5 or new 8.3
Q:
Is it right hand Retrieve
Answer: This by photo looks to be right hand retrieve, but I’m sure you can get it with left hand retrieve, if that’s what you want.
Answer: If you buy the right handed model. They make 3 right handed and one left in this series.
Answer: It depends on the model number . Copy down the number and go to tackle warehouse. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Lews_Tournament_Pro_LFS_Casting_Reel/descpage-LTPS.html
Q:
Which one is right handed
Answer: It’s right handed if the crank is on the right side you cast it than reel it with your right hand.
Q:
What is the gear ratio for this item?
Answer: Depends on the model
Answer: 6:8:1
Q:
What is the gear ratio for this item?
Answer: Depends on the model
Answer: 6:8:1
Q:
Why would I want 20lb of drag when my reel can only load 12lb line?
Answer: Why can your reel ONLY load 12 pound?
Q:
Does this reel comes already lubricant or do i have to apply oil and on this reel? Anyone please
Answer: It comes with a bottle of oil it is recommended to put 2-3 drops on the bearings and One drop on the disc brakes
Answer: They are oiled when they’re assembled but I have had to oil a couple that I’ve purchased that apparently sat on the shelf for an extended period of time before they were sold.
Answer: Yes it does and comes with a bottle for later
Q:
is this a 7/ gear?
Answer: I have several lews reels. I honestly don’t remember if THIS one in particular is a 7.5. Usually you can scroll through and pick your ratio and retrieve side. If they don’t actually give ratio. Find same model number on another site and chose the beat deal. Also, the inches retrieved per turn can help guide you
Q:
What model number is this reel?
Product reviews of LEW'S Fishing Tournament Pro Speed Spool LFS Series
GeoFisher : FANTASTIC Reel
Man, what can I say. Lews makes great products. I have been using Lews reels since they started making them again a few years ago.
I really like this one though. The one minor issue is that if you have been using the older (3+ year) old lews reels, and you go to set the Centripetal brakes on the reel, you might break the "rollers" . These reels don't have brakes you pull in and pull out or flip on and off.
To set the brakes you simply use the 1-30 position dial on the right side ( or left side), depending on how it cranks, and that is it........
Boom.....AWESOME Reel.
Easton : Not One Freaking Regret
The only thing I immediately felt was the packaging, and I'm not going to lie. It could've been better. The reel was unharmed. Great quality. Casts SUPER smooth. I have mine paired with a 7' medium heavy fast action rod. (Using 15lb fluorocarbon) This sucker is amazing. No regrets at ALL. When buying scroll down to the chart and choose the exact ratio / retrieve side you want. As long as you click the one you want you'll get the one you want. I found it a little confusing at first, but just look at the chart compare the differences and get the one that best supports you. Use Honey for a good discount. I got mine for 170. The next day it was back to $200.00. Super happy with the product!
Benoit Hebert : This reel feels soooo solid
solid reel...casts a mile..puts a smile on my face

Michael Mcdonald : So easy to set up with no fear of backlash.
This has been the best baitcaster I have used in years. I was able to take this out of the box, add line, put it on the rod and with very little adjustment have it casting perfectly with no backlash. I tested in the evening in my yard and spent entire next morning casting in the water without a single backlash. It's worth noting that I am familiar with baitcasters but had a bad experience many years ago and gave up on them. I spent good money on one years ago and just could not get it to work for me. It has been a long time since I was throwing a baitcaster. This made my morning on the water exciting. Totally worth the money. I changed baits several times and they all were different weights. I only adjusted the cast control knob and was perfect every cast. I did even start to back off the palm dial brake several clicks to extend my casts and still had no issues. However I wasnt daring enough to go free spool. Love this reel. Would absolutely purchase again. I also bought a Lews mach crush speed spool that I havent tested yet. I hope it performs as well as this one. Although it has a slightly different set up.
Update: I purchased another identical reel because I like it so much. Just got finished fishing with it. The first reel I purchased I have 50lb braid on. The second I put 20lb braid on and man does this thing cast well. Super great distance fishing a kvd sexy frog. No backlash for me. I still havent fished the orange crush reel yet. The rod for that arrived but it was broken in two. I added a picture for those asking about size. That's a chatter bait with a 4 inch zako as a trailer.
Jacob Thompson : Great quality and worth the price!
Decided to try a beginner Shakespeare baitcaster rod/reel combo a few months ago but it felt like something was missing so I went out looking for an upgrade. While this cost almost 3x's the price of my old combo, I could instantly tell the difference after the first cast. The tension knob on this guy is way more sensitive and is actually useful for lures on the lighter side. Also the centrifugal brake system is a huge upgrade and has all but eliminated backlash when casting long distances.
Robert Sharrett : Smooth!!
I purchased two. So far no backlashes. Love them.
Edward J Kerr : Excellent casting
Excellent cast control. I need to buy another one. It makes my other reels feel bad.
Ray L : Worth the money!
This is the most money I've ever spent on a reel and was really expecting it to be about the same as some of my cheaper baitcasters. I was wrong, everything about this reel is better. But most of all, it just out performs any other reel I have on the water. I actually felt like I improved as a fisherman by using this reel, better more accurate casts, longer distance. It was worth it!
Cliente de Amazon : Lew’ Tornamen pro
Exelente carrete 100 % recomendable
just me : Great Reel
This is a lite weight quiet casting smooth retrieving reel. I have been using it for weightless senko's with a 6' Ugly Stik Gx2 -10-12lb test line, and it gets them out pretty far. It's an upgrade from the Tournament MB, which is an excellent reel also. The Tournament Pro is a little pricy, however it's a different experience and only until you have actually held one in your hands and fished with it, will you know what I mean. I have not caught any giants with it to test the drag, however it handles 3 pounders just fine. The Tournament MP may be a good option if the Pro is not within your budget. I have several Lew's reels and I like them all. The Tournament Pro is my most expensive Lew's and I have no regrets.
Edward J Kerr : Excellent casting

T : Great real
Great real . Light smooth casting plenty of power and durability.
Mark Steele : Great reel
Smooth
C. Cichanski : Absolutely fantastic!
Super smooth and casts like a dream. Tough drag and accurate braking system. If you a wondering if spending more gets you more, then wonder no more. It does!

Emily P : GREAT REEL
One of our very favorite reels. M husband and I fish tournaments and this is our go to reel. Worth every penny!!
Ted : Lews!!
Awsome reel.L
Amazon Customer : Dependable
Fishing with a Lews reel like this makes catching more enjoyable. Light weight can cast all day.
MacMals : Haven't use it enough for to truly do a review but so far it is a hit.
This reel looks good, casts on par with most bait casters but with less backlashes. The drag is strong enough to catch any monster that resides in your lake, the grips are slip resistant when wet but I don't find them as comfortable as most of the other reels I have used. That being said they feel like they can really handle the abuse of heavy power fishing or abuse of bank fishing. My favorite part about the reel that makes it outshine any others I have had is the centrifugal braking system that can be adjusted from outside the reel. This feature is GREAT and the reel only backlashes if I do something totally stupid like take the brakes almost totally off and try to really wing something out there on a windy day. I did have a Diawa that I loved back in the day but the brake and drag are better on the Lew's. I would also like to commend Amazon on selling a nice reel at an even better price.
Abiel : Lews lfs baitcasting reel
Excelente reel, suave y ligero para esas jornadas largas sin tanto esfuerzo, además del diseño elegante que tiene
Contento y satisfecho
