Wow, this is one heck of a reel. Strong, smooth and effective. The slow retrieve is perfect for cranckbaits and frogs. The braking system is excellent and the drag is smooth. Castability is awesome and the spool tension works perfect. This reel is an important tool in my fishing arsenal. I highly recommend having one of these in your collection. You will find yourself using it a lot. AbuGarcia made a real winner with this reel. While the higher gear ratios are "The Thing" now days, it's hugely important to have a lower gear reel to have a broader spectrum of presentations and fishing styles at your disposal. It will make you a better fisherwo/man.
Remember, you only live once.

toyboy : Really smooth out of the box but

The reel operated great out of the box. Very smooth. Took it on fishing trip to Canada and after setting drag near maximum, the drag mechanism completely failed making it useless. Returned for replacement and haven't had a chance to try the replacement. Will probably use it in situations where heavy drag is not needed. It should have held up much better.

Love this reel, paired it too a TFO HF 7'6", outstanding Performance and all daycomfort. This thing will cast a mile, ultra smooth for bearing count. Got mine for under 170$ so very pleased with price and overall quality of product. I am not brand specific at all, but the more Abu I buy the more I learn towards them. Still love my Lews but Abu seems to edge them out in how the reel feels. The first time you use it, you just know you have a quality reel in your hands, and for less them 200$ you cant go wrong. Highly recommended

Item came supposedly new from Amazon. Spool was damaged and water was in side of adjustment panel. Reel had definitely been used before. Came with another defective reel I had ordered. I’m using the replacement feature to see what happens.

I recently purchased this item to throw smaller pike lures. It threw lightweight Rapala's well and threw some larger spinnerbaits and spoons well. The lower gear ratio is nice for fishing baits with a lot of water resistance. Certainly recommend.
