Does this reel have a bait alarm

Answer: Yes

When you can choose between right and left thats what side the handle is on, right?

Answer: Yes that is right. ! Right is right & left is left !

Can it hold 25 pound line?

Answer: the reel shows to be a CL40 it says it will hold 180 yards of 16 pound. this reel is about same size as an Ambassadeur 5000 reel and mine CL40 has a retrieve of 5.2:1 . you could put 25 pound on the reel if you don't need more than 100 yards of line.

Answer: yes, I have 30 pound on mine.

Anyone have an issue with the drag not tightening down? Reel seemed great at first until I trued to fish with it and with no drag it’s worthless!

Can i use this to cast or just to troll

Answer: I don't see why you can't use it for either one. I used it for casting over this past weekend and it did great. Also I have yet to backlash the reel but I do have 30 pound test line for catfish.

Answer: U can do both, it’s a hell uva caster

About to take up fishing next summer, is this reel suitable for a 12 ft pole?

Answer: I have a 6ft pole and works good. I really like the reel. I would say of cause it would be suitable for your 12ft pole enjoy your fishing and good luck.

Answer: Unfortunately bait caster is not the easiest to use especially with 12 foot pole. It will work, but it will be very frustrating process. I would recommend using a spinning and a 6 foot pole for starter

Answer: Sure but with a 12ft pole you will be able to cast farther than the amount of line that it would hold sounds like your ocean fishing I would suggest a bigger reel

Answer: The reel is not heavy and it has the line compacity and I don't why it wouldn't work on a 12 foot rod.

I cannot cast with this reel, how do I adjust the casting power like on a normal baitcaster? I won't go into a freespool

Answer: You loosen up the knob underneath the drag then do not cast but let thomb off the reel and let it drop you will see a difference but not so loose when you adjustthe knob

What size is this reel? What size rod would it pair with nicely?

Answer: Well I had a couple 7' ugly sticks for cat fishing that I use. This seems the work fine. As far as the reel itself, I took a chance that it would be close to a ambassador and it is. I have a few ambassadors and the reel size is about the same as the 5500 or 6500 reels. The Isafish reels are smooth and easy to take apart and clean. Can't beat the price compared to the ambassador or penn's.

What line does everyone recommend for this real? I just bought it and paired it with a 7’ med/heavy Ugly Stik.

Answer: I used braided line 50lb

Answer: The two that I ordered were.

I absolutely love these reels. I use them for carp fishing and they work beautifully. The only complaint I have is I really wanted left-handed but they were not in stock, AND they sent me SILVER reels not BLUE ones as pictured. Thankfully the silver still matches my rods. Definitely will order again though.
