Looking for a reel for bass fishing.. 10-14lb test.. what model do u suggest?

Answer: I got the size 30 and it is perfect for bass fishing. The size 30 is perfect for all types of species. That is the size I recommend for you.

I bought this reel in the Amazon. I want to buy a 2000size spare spool. What should I do?

Answer: It’s a big name company, I’d try there main website. Hell go crazy and give em a call-Midwest customer service at fishing companies is pretty amazing.

Are extra spools available for the president xt spinning reel?

Answer: Call pflueger direct they'll sale u some. I have 3 extras!

What is the handle number for replacement

How much 20lb line will this hold?

Answer: Braided line your looking at about 250 to 300 yards. Mono or fluro about half that roughly

What is the acual gear ratio? Its says faster than the non XT but they are both labled as 5:2:1?

Answer: I’m not sure, I bought it for my nephew. I’ve handled it a few times, midrange would describe both the retrieval and overall quality. To me it feels like a good $50 reel.

what size line is on it?

Answer: You need to select and put line on the reel after it is purchased. Each model can take a range of lines as well as monofilament or braided line. Mostly if you put heavier line on or mono, the reel takes less line to fill up. Line choice depends on the fish you’re after, water conditions, and preferences. I have both 6 lb mono (main line) and 8 lb braid (backing) tied together on six President XT 30s for smallmouth, crappie, and walleye.

Answer: Hello there is no line that is installed on the reel, you will need to install the recommended or preferred fishing line on the reel

Answer: It doesn't come with any line. You have to determine whether you want mono, fluoro or braid, and buy your own to put on. It's a great reel, very smooth and the drag is excellent.

what size reel should i use on 6'9 rod mlf?

Answer: I find the 30 to be a perfect size. 25 is a bit small and 35 a little large.

Answer: A 250 or 300 will be fine and will cover the casting weight of all rods of that length I would assume

Does the reel have two or three line sizes stamped on the side?

Answer: The line capacity (#test/yds) is printed on the base of the spool, just below the bottom lip. If you look close at the picture, you can see the beginning of the information right after "Pflueger President XT". Quick search online shows 6lb test (mono), 145yds. Cant recall exactly, but 8lb (mono) should be around 125yds.

Seeing reports that braid line is grooving the bail guide? Supposed to be a recent change in the guide material.

Answer: Yeah I don't use braid that often for this type of reel. A good high quality fluorocarbon line is way better than braid which tends to fray after a while anyways.

Answer: I would not purchase a Pflueger reel. I bought 2 and one broke the second time I used it and the seller refused to do anything and Pfluger has not responded to my request for warranty!!

Using 50 braid and frog lures - will this reel work? Size?

Answer: It will work perfectly, I would suggest you venture into baitcasters for frogs. Much more fun.

Does the xl 30 have a switch that puts the bail in the correct position for your next cast ..with the roller & line top dead center?

Answer: No. That's old school technology. They have an infinite anti-reverse so they stop at all locations for 360 degrees.

Is the smallest version similat to the president size? Or a bit bigger?

Answer: I have the 30 size in both (President and XT); the are same size. I have the 25 in President and have seen the 25 in XT; they are the same size. Go to the Pfleuger website and compare them. Weight and line capacity should be telltale.

Answer: President is the model not the size. But I have the 25 which is similar to the 20 only holds more line so it has a slightly larger spool. But it's a great reel I have it on a ultralight st Croix and I love it so far I caught 6 & 7 lb trout tilapia bass and bluegills

Where can i find a replacement handle?

Answer: Try the manufactures direct maybe than can help you or point you in the right direction. Failing that if it's a cork handle repair it by using fine cut pieces of a wine bottle cork. After the glue has dried smooth off with something like a ladies nail file.

How much 4lb mr.crappie line will 35 hold?

Answer: Quite a lot for 4lb. I caught a 60lb musky with that reel last year using 10lb. Lots of drag stripping and it held up. I put on about 300 yards of 10lb so go figure. For crappie, are you sure you want this work horse? I use much lighter rigs for 2-4lb line. I guess 4lb would be fine, but it's kind of like hunting rabbits with a belted mag rifle.

Which size should I get for a 7ft medium rod?

Answer: Also depends on the fish species your going to be using the reel for. If for panfish and ocasional bass, walleye etc, then stick with the 25 size reel on your 7" rod. If your mostly fishing for something larger than panfish then I would use the 30 size reel on your 7" medium rod. Hope this helps

Answer: The size 30 without a doubt. I live in France now so my rods are in metric. The 30 is also good for 1.8 m , 1.98 m and 2.1 m long up to 20 g. casting weight

Can this real be used for saltwater?

Answer: Too light for saltwater.

Answer: I wouldn't recommend it but you certainly could. Just be extra vigilant with cleaning and maintenance and rinse all salt water off with freshwater ASAP after a ocean trip.

Bought this reel to throw on my Mojo Bass. I really enjoy it. When combined with my St Croix Mojo Bass, this is a killer cool setup. I use it for Bass, Walleye, Catfish and Pike. Yeah, smooooooooove. The reel holds plenty of line and operates very smooth. It seems like it should be a $100+ reel, but I got it for $67, right here on Amazon. Every time I use it, I feel like I got a super great deal on it. It is a silky smooth reel. I highly recommend it, and would purchase again without question.

After buying 1 or 2 at a time I now have 6 of these reels and use them hard for mostly lake fishing: smallmouth, crappie, walleye, and panfish at least 40 days/yr. They have been used 2 seasons or less as replacements for other of my lower end reels wearing out, some after 15 years or more & some frustratingly nearly new. I think maybe Pflueger did it right. The reels are light and smooth as well as trouble free—so far.

This reel works great. I don't do a ton of fishing, but know how painful it is to have a reel that does not work well especially when it comes to casting. I have had zero issues with this reel so far and will definitely be recommending it to other family members!

I love this reel. I started with a regular President and loved it. Went to buy another one and all they had were XTs in stock. I now 5 XTs and the baitcast version. I am running braid on them. I am using 10-40 pound test depending on the Reel size. I have them spoiled with PowerPro, Berkeley X5, and my favorite now the spiderwire stealth smooth cast. It really is smooth. I still like the powerpro, the spiderwire is just a little smoother. The reels are super smooth with a great retrieve ratio. You can not go wrong with this reel. I have a 30 ona 6’ MH favorite defender. 25’s on falcon slab series 5’ and a 6’. 35’s on falcon buucoo 7’ and a 40 on a Favorite 7’2” medium heavy. I have tried a couple of Diawas including the fuego, I just prefer the XT

After buying a few of these as gifts, I broke down I bought myself a couple Pflueger reels. I was so happy with the products, that I bought a third reel, the Presidents model. I've had these reels for 3 years now. Though they range anywhere from $60 to $100, they are worth the value. I even removed a bunch of the parts to clean the reel, and it went back together well, and works like new. Great product!!!

I have numerous reels from numerous companies, I bought this reel thinking the reviews seemed good and for 60 bucks it might actually be worth it; I have 2 Pflueger reels remaining now soon to be 1. I bought a Kastking Emerald Eagle at the same time as this for ~10 dollars cheaper...the kastking wins by a long shot. I have yet to find a single thing that makes this reel "good" or any standouts that scream, "this was worth the price" in fact, it's been the opposite. I would 100% send this reel back and order another kastking hands down for my trainee rods.
TLDR: Don't buy this reel, I'd avoid any Pflueger reels in general unless you're going to dig deep and in which case I HIGHLY recommend you go with a Shimando Stradic CI4+ over anything Pflueger has to sell. If you're not going to dig deep and want a solid reel for comparable prices go with Kastking or the like.

The reel itself is smaller than I had expected, but oh boy does it pack a punch. I have tried braid and mono on it. Holds up well against anything from panfish to king salmon. Casts like a charm and the drag system is actually really nice. Best bang for the buck.

I'm going on my 4th year of running Strictly Pflueger Presidents. I salmon and steelhead fish on Lake Michigan. I have not had 1 issue with these reels. I am running 3 of the Presidents 40 and ordered the XT30 last week. Put my Pline on it and after 30 minutes I hit my 1st steelhead. Reel feels real nice on a Loomis Medium Light GL2 9ft. I am putting this reel on my 11'4 and 13'4 Shimano clarus Rods for Steelhead fishing the rivers. Needless to say I just ordered another XT30 cause I love it! Reels smooth and very light and balances well. Pflueger kills it with their President line. By far the best bang for your buck. I had 2 stradics that I miss dearly but I would not buy any other reel than this from now on for what I do.

I have had the reel out 4 times and it is less than free on rewind, tight. Also when reeling in slowly it will stick sometimes. I have looked at the insides a re-lubed to no avail. Now if i tighten the bail nut hand tight it hardly turns at all. I have a regular president and like it a lot??
