Answer: I caught a 28.5" Northern Pike in June using a 20 with 6 lb fused line with no problem.

Answer: There are different versions. The SP20XT has 7 ball bearings. All other versions have 10 ball bearings.

Answer: The 20 would be fine. Id check out the Daiwa Fuego LT as well. Super light and smooth as butter. I owm both reels. Daiwa is just smoother all around and this is coming from a President XT lover.

Description says left handed? Is it safe to assume that this is a mistake?

Answer: If you are right handed you would reel with your left. These reels will switch sides either way.

Answer: Spinning reels are usually shipped from the factory with the handle installed on the left side for a right handed person but they are designed so the handle can be installed on either side. A simple matter of unscrewing the knob opposite the handle and reinstalling the handle to opposite side. Very easy.

For the number shown on the model number the reel is smaller than expected. However it is fine for using on rods with a very light casting weight. 0 - 5 g.maximum is about right in my opinion.

Out of the box the reel was great! A very smooth cast and retrieve. Then about the 15th cast the reel got a dead spot. Everytime I reeled in the reel would hit a spot where you would feel a click. I had to reel harder to get past this spot. I had a presidential that last about 3 months before the bail broke. The new reels are absolute garbage. Would not recommend to anyone!

Bought it for grandson but had a delayed chance to try it out for obvious reasons at this time. Amazon won't return or exchange it. A nonfunctioning drag would be an obvious point of quality control and is the reason for 1 star. There is no way to adjust the drag and it is set on highly grabby--not good for a small reel where many wll use 4lb test. This is the 7th Pflueger President I own and the 6 others I gave 5 stars plus a positive review.

Bought this size 20 reel to replace an old Daiwa 500 size reel that was on its last legs. Spooled this up with some 8 lb braid (just to try, never having used that before, usually just 4-6 lb mono) and took it down to a local WA river to toss a spoon for some trout. The first fish I managed to hook was a 12+ lb salmon. Took me a good 15 minutes to get it in and this reel handled it like a champ. I don't think I'd use it to target larger fish like that but if you accidentally hook into one it is up to the challenge.
