Eugene : Nice quality reel.

Great basic spinning reel. Comes with a quality aluminum spool, relatively fast gearing and retrieve rate, and a steady feel from the ball bearings.

I used this reel throughout the entirety of last season, and upon disassembly and cleaning the reel for the summer ahead, I am even more confident in its design.

The bearings are well sealed. The drive shaft and worm gear are sufficient for moderate to heavy fish. The whole drag assembly is user-friendly and serviceable. The raceway surrounding the driveshaft is designed well and also shielded by a washer system. All of this at a price point of $30, or $40 if you get the combo. The rod it comes with is actually quite nice as well.

It is smooth with a efficient retrieve. It does have anti reverse feature. I bought the reel as a combo from Walmart. The reason for 3 ( more like 2.5) stars is the cheap feel from the crank lever and rotor. The aluminum spool is nice and drag is adequate. Honestly if I had to pay full price for just the reel at almost 30 dollars it would be a one star rating. Seriously overpriced. I bought at clearance for twenty with the rod. Also the size is a bit small for a 3000 size seems like a 2000 size compared to other reels of mine

The reel gearing is smooth, and I have an older Agility reel that is my favorite and has been reliable for years. However this new one does not lay the line evenly on the spool. It biases significantly to the rear of the spool which means that when line is spooling of during a cast, any slightly loose loops get pulled off prematurely, creating a knot in the line. It knots nearly every cast. I've respooled the line with the same result. This reel is unusable in the current state.

I bought this one because of the quality of the old one, but it has certainly gone way downhill
