fishing user avatarRaul reply :

3-3.5 pounds.

fishing user avatarMatt Fly reply :

3.25-3.75? Bad angle for guessing.  Nice chunk!!!!

fishing user avatarnwgabassmaster reply :

That fish is around 3.5 lbs.

fishing user avatarKU_Bassmaster. reply :

I would also guess 3.5 lbs.  That thing looks like it should weigh around 5 though.  Look at the size of it's tail compared to the rest of it's body.  Maybe the camera angle?

fishing user avatarLow_Budget_Hooker reply :

ditto

fishing user avatargatrboy53 reply :

3 1/2 is close

fishing user avatarbasser89 reply :

Ditto here too! Around 3 1/2.

fishing user avatarPond-Pro reply :

I would have to say around 3.1 pounds. Nice catch.

fishing user avatarbowjunkie35 reply :

Just to be different, I am going to give you a courtesy bump and say 3.9 pounds!  ;D

fishing user avatarNick reply :

To check any fish pic, first look at the size of the hand holding it. That fist is larger than the bass head and gills.  Looks like 161/2  inches and maybe three pounds.

fishing user avatarMichael H reply :

i agree woth preety much everone else around 3.5 pounds

fishing user avatarifishflorida reply :

I'll say 2 1/2 pounds

fishing user avatardodgeguy reply :

3.5 is my guess.that's about an 18 inch fish.a 20 inch bass should weigh 4.5 to 5.

fishing user avatarCurado reply :

3.5

fishing user avatarMadhouse27 reply :

I play this same game every month when I get my issue of bassmaster magazine. There are certainly times when I am doubting the validity of the weights on the lunker page. To get your picture in the mag your smallmouth has to be over 6 pounds. It's almost comical some of the bass people are trying to pass off as meeting the minimum weight. I'll go with the general consensus on this fish, probably in the low to mid 3 pound range.

No way dude. We regularly catch 2 1/2 pounders in tournaments here, and based on the estimated length and judging by the picture, that fish is bigger than 2 1/2.

fishing user avatarbowjunkie35 reply :

For example, last tourney on 3 mile, one of our 15 3/4 inch fish weighed 2.4 pounds. If the fish pictured is 20 inches, which it apprears close, it is bigger than 2.5.

Maybe he just has the biggest hand in the world. I doubt if that fish is near 20" but you are welcome to think anything you want. He asked for a guess, I gave him one. How much bigger do you think that fish is than this fish?

fishing user avatarLow_Budget_Hooker reply :

ifishflorida-

bucket of a mouth, but skinny.  Yours has potential to be much bigger than knkfiends if it were a different time of year.

I  think Ifishfloridas point is that photos are decieving.  When I said "ditto", I was being lazy but I would guess 2.75-3.25 tops for knkfiends fish.

To assist with ifishflorids point, this fish weighs 3.2lbs

Maybe! ;D

Oh well, I was going from the estimated 20" length and not scrutinizing the pics. I guess we will never know.

My suggestion knkfiend, get a scale! It is a great tool to avoid controversey.

fishing user avatarUpnorth reply :

That first fish would probally not break 3 lbs.  I'd say 2.8.

fishing user avatarChris reply :

3 pounds or under if its skinny.

fishing user avatarRaul reply :

Bragging ? OK here 's one:

How much ? I 'm 5'8".

fishing user avatarroadwarrior reply :

I'm guessing 22-23", average range of 6 lb 6oz - 7 lb 5 oz. However, this big girl looks thick (that's PC for fat). So, I'll say just over 8 lbs., 8 lbs 2 oz.

fishing user avatarLow_Budget_Hooker reply :

We don't get to hold 'em like that up here in RI, so my guess is out :(

Nope you guessed wrong RW, more !  ;D

fishing user avatarNick reply :

Road W., I agree that Raul's is a quality fish. Butterballs like this do weigh well! Maybe 8-9 lbs., if it's 23 inches or more.

fishing user avatarRaul reply :

23" x 22 1/2" Nick, I caught that baby last year, this year has been rough, I was out of comission during the best time of the year to catch me a bigun and I 'm still partialy out of comission.

fishing user avatarNick reply :

What commission are you in? Sorry to hear you are partially there. So did it go 10lb.?

fishing user avatarMuddpuppy reply :

I go with about 11 lbs.  and guess its 28 inches long.

fishing user avatarRaul reply :

The comission is fishing ! I suffered a shoulder injury ( my casting arm ) that kept me 9 weeks out of "comission" during the prime of the season when I normally catch fish like that one and the shoulder is still not 100% operational Nick so most probably I 'm not going to catch a big momma this year, the closest I 've been to one this year 6 months ago and 6 ft away when she jumped  and spitted my jig right in my face, as big as a ham. That one didn 't weight 10, very close but not enough, 9.86 lbs.

fishing user avatarMadhouse27 reply :

Raul, you aren't fondling the fish again are you?

fishing user avatarYankee_Bassman reply :

How about we guess Raul's weight (assuming that's him in the picture)....holy cow, dude....eat a sandwich....(lol)...I wish I was that slender...I'm a lot closer to the Chief in my Avatar......
