Holy cow it's hot out down here. High of 94 degrees, 50% humidity, and a heat index of 103. The heat index jumps to 107 tomorrow. Even after 5 pm until just before sundown the heat index is over 100.
Thankfully, in a few weeks I'm moving a little bit north of here where the temps are only in the mid 80's and heat indices in the low 90's. I can live with that.
I tried fishing for about 45 minutes after work yesterday but it was brutal. I know a shady spot to fish so I might try that tonight if I get the itch.

Try the gulf coast in the summer and you would be happy with what you have, it's the 1st day of a long summer. Enjoy what you have and fish at night.

Amen to that! 50% humidity is a nice balmy day down here! Under our first heat advisory for the year. Heat indexes in the 110 range with cautions issued for heat stroke. And it's still JUNE..... But, it makes for some awesome topwater fishing at daybreak!

I bank fish and because of the alligators I don't have the stones to fish at night. Thankfully, where I am moving there are no alligators.
The drawback to that is that where I am moving does not have stormwater lagoons like the thousands we have here. It does have lakes, but on the maps I don't see many areas to bank fish. I've thought about buying a kayak, but that probably means I have to sell my (paid off) GenCoupe and buy a new vehicle.

I'd like our rain to be gone and some heat to come. We're still dealing with unseasonably cold temperatures and flooding rains. It's almost July and we're still getting 50s and 60s for highs, some low 70s, and cold rains that have once again destroyed river fishing. My home river has risen 4 feet in a day and the forecast for the next 2 weeks shows 1 day of no rain. In fact, it's raining now and thunder is in the distance. The seasons have been so strange for several years and it has continued to get worse. We're destroying the planet.

I always wear sunscreen on exposed skin - red-head = burn like a lobster.
For me it IS the heat - I've suffered heat-exhaustion and heat-stroke in the past...that makes me more susceptible to suffering those again. For me it's an actual physiological issue and not just a matter of comfort.

I hate that for ya, i guess if it's hot you just need to stay inside. I would still caution against wishing for different weather, it's going to do what it's going to do. I try to be grateful for each day regardless of weather and my fishing opportunities are bountiful. Just my $.02

It was 105 here in San Angelo TX yesterday, I didn’t dare check the heat index. Lol
One day last summer, right after we bought our Bass Raider, my future wife and I spent the whole day on the water in 107 degree temps.
This was before we discovered UPF clothing. ????
I work in the heat but out of the sun mostly so I have a high tolerance for the heat. Yesterday it was 112 inside the shop.

I might work...it's just as valid as any other method.
With me, I have to plan my excursions at least a week in advance because of scheduling issues. Of course the forecast for that range is 'iffy'...so wishing for good weather for my planned excursion IS a big part of my prep. If it's storming that day or excruciatingly hot...guess what...it's going to be 7-10 days before I can get out again. So yes, I DO wish for good weather on the day picked for my outing because if it's not good weather, it's a while before I can get out again.

You will not have them very long. I forget about gators being that far north all we have are rattlesnakes and politicians.

I’m thinking about moving to Duluth, MN. It’s listed as the top location in the country most likely not to be affected by climate change.
Really though it’s been very comfortable up here in the north for a month. Mostly 70’s and not humid which is pretty ideal.

Have been in Minnesota in July and August...it's hot and humid! Duluth being near lake Suprior has a decent climate if you consider -40 comfortable for 3 winter months.

If you want to play the game during the Summer you have to be able to take the heat. This applies to any outdoor sport. You can fish at night to avoid the sun but if you are afraid of overgrown lizards and other animals then maybe night bass fishing in the South is not for you. With that said today was a very hot day with temperatures in the mid 90's and a heat index over 105. There was no wind and there was +80% humidity so it felt like a sauna. I took the heat and I am glad that I did since I caught both quality and quantity. Beats being at home!

It has been warm..but am lucky enough to be able to endure. I work, golf and fish in it. I call it "Postman fishing".
Rain, sleet, or heat I will be doing one of the three.

Its been really hot here in the central valley of California, but we are getting a few days of High 70's it looks like before that triple digit heat rolls in. Thursday is supposed to be 78 degrees with some overcast so Im definitely going fishing. It just seems like the type of day thats perfect for putting some pigs in the boat.

A few have successfully mounted a rack used for bikes and skis, but no one has reported putting a heavy kayak up there. Personally, I'm not willing to take that risk. I'm due for a new vehicle in a year or two anyway.

Oh that's a shame. My little pompous douchenozzle 3 series BMW sturdily supports my 13.5 foot 95 pound ocean kayak! Lucky me I guess. Kayaking is great. If you don't have many spots to fish from the bank at your new location you should do everything you can do figure out a kayak. You won't regret it! I used to have a boat and sold it when I moved to Florida. Got a kayak. So simple, easy, and fun!

Call the dealer and ask them if they can look up the specs for your car and find out what the roofs dynamic load rating is. That will tell you all you need to know about putting a kayak up there. The problem with little cars like the Gencoupe is that its not good for anything other than getting in and driving. Its a toy rather than something that has usefulness in every day life. Sometimes we have to give up those toys in lieu of something more suiting to every day life. I still have my little toy sitting in my garage. 94 Honda civic coupe that I rebuilt from bottom to top, inside and out about 10 years ago. Even converted it from an automatic to manaul. My young cousin begs me for it every time I see him. It never gets driven though because its a useless vehicle. These days if I cant do more than just get in a vehicle and drive it. It is of no use to me. Just can leg my civic go because I put so much time and money into it all those years ago. Also have a G35 coupe sitting in my driveway. It was my wifes car that she quickly grew tired of, because its a toy. Good for nothing other than just driving. The car runs well and currently has not problems. They have a timeless look and are fun to drive, but I hate the thing because they were just plagued with little problems that needed constant attention.
We both drive Tacomas now they. I drive a 13 tacoma prerunner and my wife drives a 17 tacoma trd. Now we bought the 17 planning to see the 13 tacoma, but I just liked my 13 tacoma so much better than the 17 I couldnt let it go. So she drives the 17. Vehicles like the tacoma are perfect. 4 doors so it serves dual purpose as a car and a truck. Small enough to drive around town but has enough balls to do work. Reliable as all get out. My 13 Tacoma has 94k miles which means its just being broken in. The point of my novel is that I liked the little toys too, but they just dont have much use in life.
My 94 Honda Civic. Well known simply as the EG. Man I dont think Ive even started the car in a year.
