I take 2 big soft tackle boxes with me some of the stuff I've never used. One and a half is full of plastics and jigs, the rest is crank baits, jerk baits, spinner baits and top water. I wonder if that actually hurts the amount of fish I catch because I switch so much, or
(the one I want to believe) it gives me options to try different things. I only take 4 rods with me which are:
1. JIG
2.TEXAS RIG
3.WEIGHTLESS
4.CRANKBAIT & SPINNERBAIT
So there is not a lot of tying unless I'm changing leader or colors.
Should I leave some at home or not.
I take as many as I can fit in the boat. Never know what you might need.
If there's room in the boat...why not? You can't figure out the pattern until you start finding what they want. It could be the stuff you've never used before.
I don't have enough that I have to worry about leaving stuff behind. I start with my favorites, but if they just don't seem interested, I like having other options. I might even find a new favorite.
I will usually take extra of what i need. Like if i know i am fishing a SHALLOW lake with abundant vegetation, i will only bring plastics and a few Rat-L-Traps. If i am fishing deep lakes, i will bring deep divers and Carolina rigs. You get the picture!
All of them!
I take all i need i fish water 10 foot or less so its easy for me to take one bag and have all i need. ponds, lakes,
2,731- give or take a few
The other day I was looking for a specific lure and decided to take my tackle our of the boat to reorganize it. 20 full rod/reel combo's, 17 large Plano soft plastic boxes, 5 soft tackle bags filled with jigs and terminal tackle, 3 large swimbait boxes and 7 large crankbait boxes.
My night fishing tackle is kept in a cabinet, not in my boat, along with the salt water tackle. Oh well.
When fishing in a friends boat I only take 4 or 5 rods and one large tackle bag. Trying to figure out what to take is one reason I fish alone most of the time.
You only need one rod/reel and what ever the bass are biting.
WRB
18 Plano boxes loaded with plastics, cranks, top water, rouges, Spinnerbaits, jigs, crawworms, terminal tackle, etc. Plus 20+ pounds of plastics in their original packages. That's what stays in the boat. There's more if I care to do an inventory.
I'm positive there are 47 Spinnerbaits, 107 Rattletraps(AT last count), 17 Rouges, and at least a hundred other crankbaits of varying designs.
I thought I had a lot of stuff, that's ridiculous.
Though I've never actually counted them, it's as many lures as you could possibly stuff into a 1258 Plano.
Since the majority of my lures are soft plastics, I'm probably toting around 400 lures (my wife totes another 400).
Roger
six big plano boxes loaded with hooks/weights, topwater, jigs, shallow cranks, deep cranks, jerk baits/rattle traps.
4 large plano boxes loaded with worms, creature baits, more worms, lizards
5 medium plano boxes with senkos, flukes, trick worms, jig trailers, tubes.
I have a box full of ziplock bags filled with worms, that I just don't like much all the weird colors like semi clear/blue.
My attack bag plus a couple spinner baits & a couple traps
In the spring and fall, far more than I do in the summer and winter. If it was up to me, I'd only have a plastic grocery bag full of lures on the deck and nothing else unfortunately, it doesn't usually work out that way.
QuoteAll of them!
Yea, What he said! Probably too many! I bought a fish scale last year and weighed my tackle box and and got a big shock, and then I went and bought more stuff to put in it.
if i was to take all my preloaded bags they wouldnt fit on a 22 ft bass boat i have 8 preloaded bags 3 of wich have plano 3800 size boxes filled with plastics the rest are 3700 size bags filled with random stuff ,then i also have 6 hard plano boxes filled this is a reason im having a tailgate sail tommorow

Yes and the Bait Monkey beckons me this morning. You never have enough.

So, uh....When can can I get 1 of those? ;D
I take 'em all with me...but my "all" still fits into one tackle box.
One thing you can do is;
-bring your whole supply of fishing lures on the boat with you, and constantly change until you find something that works.
-or, you can go out fishing everyday with all your lures until you find 5 or so baits that you know will produce all day, and from there just make little adjustments.
I personally hate changing baits when I'm on the water. So I have 5 baits hooked up all day and dont change them. I just adjust my fishing style to the changing weather/ time of day.
TOO MANY!! LOL

They're killing me Wayne, just KILLING me!!
Having major communication issues when it comes to the patterns and colors I want. We have them PHYSICALLY perfect, from the samples I've given out and from my own use, I'm not afraid to say, they are even better than the original,...but the colors,...man, what a nightmare! (and of all the nightmares for me to have,...the guy who doesn't believe 1 bit in "color",....but, I know the customers do so,...)
THE MINUTE I have them in hand, I have a list of folks who are waiting,....you're at the top, believe me. You'll probably get a call with me screaming in your ear that they're in,...they're in!!!
I just don't know when
Update-just got an email, meeting with factory owner at noon I'm going to tell him to CRACK THAT WHIP!!!
I usually take everything I own, 4/5 of which has never been wet. I always wind up using Senkos and my favorite crankbait.
Better have and not need than need and not have, besides I ain 't carrying them on my back.
Too many and not enough.
couple Plano boxes with my cranks and jigs and then a bag of soft plastics, I could leave some of them at home but I dont. I do try to take what I feel I need for the day though.
I certainly *** any angler who's able to tote "ALL" his lures to the lake.
But if the Bait Monkey is listening, you've been moved to the top of his attack list.
In addition to about a dozen tackle boxes, I have a 9-drawer Credenza and 5-drawer Chest
that are slap-full of fishing lures (more lures than most small tackle shops).
If I attempted to take even half of ALL my lures to the lake, I'd have to begin with a much larger boat ;D
Roger
I take it all. I'd rather have it and not need, it than find out what the fish want is back home in the "man cave."
Falcon
I bring:
1. Rapala X-Rap (Silver)
2. 6" Plastic Worms
3. Blue Swimbait
4. Rapala Minnow
5. Worm Spray
I take every single lure that I own
A LOT!
If I ever set them all out it would look like an aisle in Bass Pro Shops!
But interestingly all types, styles and sizes are only in 5 colors.
My tackle box is 21 ft long and 96 in wide. I don't know exactly how many that is but it is a bunch. I have at least 150 hard baits and probably 300 different choices for plastic. I probably have a better selection on board than most mom and pop tackle shops. It's all organized in 3700's for the hard baits and terminal tackle and in sterilite containers for the soft plastics. It is very impressive, unfortunately it does not help me catch more fish.
I catch a lot of fish but everything I have caught fish on in the last year would fit in 1-3700 and my shirt pocket.
