I pulled in a video camera case while fish'n in a northern Wisconsin lake.It was empty
I pulled in a bra and a pair of panties on separate casts (about 15 minuets apart). I also pulled in an old old old Coors Light can on the same day. Coincidence??? Hmmmmmm
All were caught on DD22's
caught a nightcrawler fishing for salmon in ship creek in alaska. on a spin n glow
A Rock
My mom once caught a fishing pole that had a fish attached to it

gotta love those norman's 8-)
Not really strange but here goes:
Shore fishing somewhere (saltwater) and was using shrimp as bait. I was little and thought i got my line snagged on the bottom... turns out i caught 2 crabs on one hook! Good sized too!
CRABS>>>>>>>>>>> Sorry wrong line, my mistake
Saltwater: A baby squid. I was fishing with a Got-Cha plug in a canal for whatever felt like biting. I set my rod down on the dock with my lure still in the water, so I could eat some of my sandwhich. When I was done I reeled in my lure there was a squid hooked through the head on the back treble.
Freshwater: An old umbrella on a finesse worm. :-?
i once caught a grass shrimp that was about this |-------| long. i was fishing for white perch in tidal water with inline spinners on my ultralite. well i was fishing the spinner over a grass bed and then i brought it in i noticed what i thought was a piece of grass on the trebel hook. when i looked closer it was a tiny little shrimp. i hooked it right thru the side on one of the hooks. i thought that was cool!
I caught a lizardfish in outer-banks NC. It was about a foot long with little half legs. I caught a goby in NY and it oozed foam out of its eyes
Not really strange, but I had an embarassing moment during a tournament when I fought a sunken jugline for a couple of minutes. It had just the right combination of air and water that it kinda bobbed up and down as I was bringing it in. I thought I had the money fish and fought it all the way to the boat.
QuoteCRABS>>>>>>>>>>> Sorry wrong line, my mistake
I saw this coming while i was typing my message but i proceeded to post it anyway! ;D
I caught a 6'6" MHVY baitcasting rod with a 5500 C3 attached to it. The rod was a Quantum of some type, it was wasted. The reel needed some work but I got it going.
I seem to recall a thread similar to this some time ago and there were at least three people that had caught a body.Me I only caught a pair of hunting boots. On separate casts.
Thank goodness the guy wasn't still in them. ;D
What were they using for bait?Sure could'nt have been a Lucky Craft!
QuoteI seem to recall a thread similar to this some time ago and there were at least three people that had caught a body.
i know u guys dont want to hear this one but the strangest thing i have ever pulled in was a womens under garment a thong to be precise out of the ohio river i cut my line not touching that lol

That's hilarious ;D Something I would do for sure!
My little brother caught a Zebco rod with a rat l trap on it. He caught it on a ratltrap.
Speaking of catching lures I was throwing a small countdown Rapala into a brushpile and hooked one just like it 8-).
i once was fishing in a little pond from shore and i was using a frog lure, a fish hit it when underwater with my bait and then all of a sudden it felt bigger... i reeled it all the way in and there were two things on my hook, a nice 3 pounder and an old beach ball with a hole in it.
A tire (Thatwas a pain having to reel in!!! I replaced my line after reeling it in)
and also a crab pot but thats an other story on why you should not jump down from a dock to go retrieve a crab pot
A four foot 'gator. I cut the line before I got him to the boat.
Saltwater---> sea stars, and crabs too.
Freshwater---> BAT!!!! not the ones you swing to hit a ball. a real bat. It looked like a wet rat. It was nasty. i had a crappie jig head on a trout setup w/ 4lb test at night. cast it....didn't hear or see a splash. then I started to reel in the line and i felt like i was draging something and it was a bat that got caught/tangled on the line. Seeing how bass like to eat live bait, I cast it into the lake and it was making some splashes on top of the water but no takers. :
this nasty thing
A dinosaur just under 11 feet using 200 lb test Tuff Line
Quotethis nasty thing
that looks like a moray eel. Some people actually go after them.Yuk!
a couple of years ago i hooked a big beaver in the back leg on a 3/4 oz. rattletrap. what a fight! i briefly thought it was a monster fish until it surfaced, totally confused and p.o.'d about what was going on. to this day i chuckle when i think about it. it kept trying to look back at its leg like, "what the....!!!??? ;D thankfully it pulled loose and i got to keep my rattletrap. i was gonna cut my line anyway. either that, or i woulda ended up in some of jeff foxworthy's material.
Jimmy Hoffa
First off...this wasn't necessarily a 'catch', but I caught a 2.5lb spot in a tournament in '05, and he spit up a Gene Larew craw in the livewell that had swollen up waaay beyond its normal size. I don't think it was a hawg craw to begin with...the plastic was very gelatin like and you could tell it had absorbed a lot of water and was old. I'm not sure how long the plastic was in the water or how long the bass tried to digest it. Here is a pic.....
Here is a frog that pounded a lizard.....
I could have caught this snapping turtle several times...he was near the bank and chased my jig every time I retrieved it. Look at the claws on this guy! My cat doesn't have claws that big. I wish the bass were as interested in my bait as he was...
my head on a lipless crank.....and while surf fishing almost caught a surfer ;D
I got snagged on a log and cut my line and lost one of my favorite rattle traps and a week or so later i came back to the same spot and hooked my old rattletrap and reeled them both in.
A duck. I was casting live nightcrawlers in a pond and got too close to a duck and he grabbed it. I hooked him in the tongue. I had to chase him down and hold his neck and head while cutting the hook to remove it. He was very mad when I let him go.
Then I reeled in 1/2 of a rod with a Daiwa spincast reel on it. It had an Eerie Derie lure on it. I thought it was strange to find a walleye lure on a rod in the bottom of a trout/bass lake. Maybe they do work for bass, who knows.
Other things include shoes, diapers, once a small rock hooked perfectly in a hole on top of it.
I once witnessed my brother catch a dead bass. It was hooked in the mouth so he thought it had taken his line. Turned out it had another line attached to it also and apparently had been hung up and died cause it could not move around to feed. He hooked it perfectly in the jaw, brought it in, lipped it and then was surprised to find it was already dead. Wasn't a keeper though so he had to throw it back. ;D
I caught a river sculpin fishing with a size 5 floating rapala minnow. That is not the weird part however.
I was pretty much at the end of the retrieve and stopped. The current pushed my lure to the shore such that the front half of the lure was on land and the other half in the water. Then, a small sculpin, no bigger than the rapala swam up, saw the lure, hopped up to it and lactched its mouth to the rear treble! I heard that they can be poisonous so I released it from the treble with great caution.
Ugly mugs. This isn't the one I caught that day, but I just wanted to show you how ugly they are.
this summer in fort morgan alabama I was fishing off a pier throwing a heavly weighted gulf shrimp when I felt some good resistance, turned out to be a sea turtle snagged in the foot.
I felt bad cause he wrapped me around a pileing and was stuck out of the water. but a boat came by and I got the owner to un hook it for me.
Quotecaught a nightcrawler fishing for salmon in ship creek in alaska. on a spin n glow
How did you know what the nightcrawler was fishing for? ;D
Strangest thing I caught was.....a seagull....Monterey, CA.
Now if you want to talk about strangest things seen floating in the water...I can honestly say I fished next to about a 12" TV - floating screen up right next to my boat. Also, almost every body of water I fish on here in Korea has at least one (usually more) soccer ball floating on it somewhere.
From shore: 7 fish at one time! 2 small bass, 3 suckers (these are called shiners by some) and 2 catfish. I snagged a metal stringer that someone had lost with all the fish on it and still alive. I thought I had a monster until I saw what I was reeling in. Weird:o)
i reeled in a glove by the middle finger once, all the others were folded down in a perfect "bird". i guess the fish were ticked i was slayin um that day.
I remember tossing a jig out into the middle of a small pond once...I was using green braided powerpro and out of no where a bunch of birds fly by...I guess this one couldn't see the line cause he flew right into it...his struggle then tangled him up into it ... i had to reel him in hold him down a slowly remove the line...that was really weird
Quotei know u guys dont want to hear this one but the strangest thing i have ever pulled in was a womens under garment a thong to be precise out of the ohio river i cut my line not touching that lol
Funny you should mention the ohio river. My wife's uncle caught two condoms on the same day on the ohio. Needless to say he lost two baits
I've caught a snake using just a regular plastic worm. I also pulled in a big mass consisting of sticks, fishing line, sinkers, hooks, half of a fish head and a live catfish!
2 things
a casting net, which was a blessing due to the fact it was full of crank baits. i cut out the baits and took the rest to the boat ramp.
my father in the back while fishing out of a small boat. we (he mostly) were lucky it was a small hook and the barb went in and out when i was casting. seems to me he tied on the biggest crank bait he had after that.......
I caught a huge leather back turtle, my youngest son, his own head. My friends dad some large water fowl bird(don't remember wich kind) and my friend caught a drift sock loaded with lures.
Paul
The weirdest fish was a paddle fish. I thought I caught a shark in fresh water. Just a weird fish.
I also hooked into a bag of used medical supplies labled BIO HAZARD. It was filled with needles, blood bags, and OTHER STUFF that had blood on it.
QuoteMy mom once caught a fishing pole that had a fish attached to it
Was it still alive?
I've caught bags, a boot, rocks, cans, and more.
I caught the rod that my dad had droppedin the water minutes before in like 60 feet of water. that was lucky. have also witnessed my friend catch a seagull
i was fishing a tourney one time when i cast up under this tree with a small rapala floating lure when i felt pressure on the line. when i got it reeled to the boat a snake about 2 and 1/2 foot long had came up and got caught on the lure.
QuoteI also hooked into a bag of used medical supplies labled BIO HAZARD. It was filled with needles, blood bags, and OTHER STUFF that had blood on it.
uhm were did this happen, reminfd me to never fish there lol ;D
Got a turtle, duck, and a coot fishing for catfish...
snapper turtle on a inline spinner
seagull down in florida
baby pike-senko- never even saw one until this year, it was scary with them teeth
and all kinds of weird shirts, hats, bags, lures..etc
corny sarcastic answer- im gonna go with the lock ness monster
Dead Man, yep it's true. If you want to hear the story again just let me know. I posted it last year some where.

Let's here it Frogtog.
My friend caught two crab legs stuck together in the schuylkill river, and he caught a rock, actually reeled a 4 inch rock in. haha
I reeled in a rock once too ;D
I was drifting/trolling in the boundary waters and caught a pair of sunglasses from the fifties. it had the wings and everything they looked like something elton john would wear.
i was trout fishing in ARk with corn and a monster crawdad grabbed the hook and held on the whole ride. After that i proceeded to rip the meat out of the crawdad and use him as bait.
Late in the summer I pulled in a chatter bait I had lost back in the spring. The blade was a little tarnished but the rest was perfect. Still using it.
- Caught a freshwater clam/mussel in about 4 feet of water with a 1-Minus. It had it by the bend on one of the trebles. Had to pry it open with a knife to get the lure back. Didn't know those things could clamp down so hard.
- A beaver
- Canadien goose
- My brother caught a tampon last year. That was good fun watching him deal with that because it was on his favorite spinnerbait. ;D
Dead Body; actually I didn't catch it when I was 13 on Lake Vernon near Leesville, Louisiana home of Fort Pork, pulled up on one of my spots and there it was been underwater for 3-4 days.
Something I'll never forget
I caught a pair of scissors last spring.

Did ya check his wallet? :-?
ITS NOT WHAT I CAUGHT BUT STILL FUNNY. MY BUBBY AND I WERE FISHING AND THIS DUCK CAME BY AND EVERY TIME MY BUDDY WOULD YELL AFLAC THE DUCK WOULD QUACK BACK. I THINK THIS ticked THE DUCK OFF BECAUSE WHEN MY BUDDY TURNED HIS BACK AND BENT OVER TO TIE A LURE ON THE DUCK JUMPED UP ON THE BOAT AND GRABBED A BITE OF HIS UNDERWEAR THAT WAS HANGING OUT I NEARLY FELL OFF THE BOAT LAUGHING THE LOOK ON HIS FACE WAS PRICELESS
I wanna read some "dead body" stories.....
Well, there was this one chick... Oh, Fishing...nevermind
QuoteI wanna read some "dead body" stories.....
Story coming soon, check back tomorrow night.

im laughing and i wasnt even there that must have the the funniest thing ever!@!!!
This is kinda different but still crazy and hard to believe. I was fishing a creek for little smallies near my house. I was throwing a green pumpkin Yum Craw bug into a log jam near a bridge pillar when it got snagged and i lost it. The very next day i went back with my buddy and he reeled in a little smallie. When we went to take the hook out i looked down his mouth and there was my lure from yesterday. It wasn't hooked or any thing and it was all tore up from where he was chewing on it. I couldn't believe he would hold onto that for so long.
Had an owl come out of a tree and try to grab a frog i was fishing. Not sure what I would have done if he had grabbed it.
I caught a very large water moccasin while fishing a booyah pond magic spinnerbait. I was freaked out. I just unhooked him with pliers(without toughing him lol)
a rash.

Hey Frogtog where is that dead body story
-A lawn chair
-A condom
-Flat Screen Monitor
I also caught a moray eel in salt water before... it was 5 feet long and one of the hardest fight fish ive ever caught..... Needless to say when I got him at the boat I cut the line.
I was fishing a small dammed up river that gets the winter runoff from a larger well stocked lake. While bass fishing with crankbaits I caught the uglyest fish i have ever seen. It had baby sized teeth and was silver and long. I later found out it was a salmon. I didn't have a net and didn't want to lose my lure so i slackened the line and it got off. It could of been a state record for salmon it was that big.
there are a couple strange things i have caught like a GIANT flat head while fishing for largemouths with a jerkbait, pretty much a tree, and a shoe.
I fish in the Charles River in MA fairly regularly...while it's been cleaned up in the past few years, some weird stuff comes out of it. I know guys who have hooked into shopping carts, a couple bodies, rods/reels...
My catches include:
A purse (empty)
A 4ft iron rebar
A butternut squash
A pair of blue jeans
Caught an owl on a plastic frog early one morning on the St. Johns river in Fla. Talk about a Chinese fire drill-------

I have a similar story...
I was fishing with a big blk/blu spinnerbait, and on the cast, the line snapped about 5 inches above the lure (have no idea why)...The very next day, I was fishing in the same spot with a crankbait, and hooked the spinnerbait. I was pretty stoked because that was one of my fav. spinnerbaits.
I was bank fishing at a local lake and caught a plastic worm on a DT6. It was all swollen and discolored. I snapped a pic with my phone, but it didn't come out very well.
I was fishing in Indiana and hooked something that felt like a small log, reeled it up and it was a FULL stringer of bluegill that evidently got away from someone's boat, about 30 fish on it. Good way to start a day of bluegill fishing ;D
I didn't really catch it but one time I was up a boundary water and i caught a nice largemouth bass. Since that was the only fish all night and we needed to eat I put him on a stringer and was tying him to the canoe we he went for a run. Needless to say and swore for about 10 minutes until I saw a stringer floating in the slop.... We rowed over there and grabed it with the fish still on it.
i aint sure what it is just yet bein that i havent investigated for a while but i believe that it is an old coal stove in one of the better fishing hole around here so far i only lost a midnight special spinnerbait on it. which means i am going to find out what it is as soon as the waters warm enough to swim in.
a strong 3 pounder, but it had about 2 feet of braid coming out of its bum, must of had the lure still inside of her and could only pass the line.
My dad caught the handle of a shovel. My friend caught my broken line at a pond with a nice "pond" size bass on it.
I tried to find the post I made a few months ago but couldn't so to the best of my knowledge here it is. I was practicing for a Stratos Tournament on the Tar river in eastern NC. I was by myself just drifting along fishing log jams, when I flipped my jig in one of them I noticed a round ball in the water and it didn't look right. It was like a peace of cloth was rolled up over a limb. So I went in for a closer look. I took my rod and kind of pushed on it and when I did a hand came up out of the water. That's when I made my move to the back of the boat and my pants were getting heavy. I started calling 911 and I think I went through every operator they had in eastern NC before one understood where I was. I finally met two deputies at the boat ramp and took them to where he was. We had to tape the site off with yellow tape, thats when I got a good view of the face or should I say what was left of it. No more potted meat for me. One of the deputies got sick and the other one wanted to put him in my boat. I let them know real quick that won't going to happen. By the time we got back to the ramp the news media and the SBI were there. They question me for a hour about this guy. After a few hours they got him out and identified him as Tyrone Cooper, He was in a fight on the bridge in Greenville NC about three months before and they said he jumped off the bridge to escape the guys ( I really bet he jumped ) He had been in the water about three months before I found him. Well I didn't win the tournament but I did catch the big fish 6lb where I found the body at and won a $1000.00 bucks. I knew this was going to happen to me one day because I'm always finding stuff in those log jams.
Thank's Frogtog been waiting to hear that story bet that makes you think twice before ya start poking stuff with the rod.
Sea gull, nice fight too!
in Miami back in the 80's, about 3 miles off of Key Biscayne, my uncle caught a "Square Grouper" one night. He had hooked a fish and as he was reeling it in he felt the pull get even stronger and we thought maybe a shark had eaten it so he slowly kept reeling it in and then noticed it was more of a dead weight then anything. When he got it to the boat we saw that the fish was a snapper and it had wrapped itself around a bail that was floating just beneath the surface. I was a kid and I didn't understand what was going on or why everyone was so out by it. Then my uncle pulled it in the boat started the engine and we went home right away. It wasn't until I got much older that my dad told me it was a few pounds of Jamaica's finest and because of it my uncle was able to upgrade to a much bigger boat. Like I said it was Miami in the 80's.
this isnt too weird but i caught a few spinnerbaits and a water snake on a jig and a clam
A couple of weeks ago I was fishing with forum member "Timistall" and I caught a 1 1/2" long Striped Bass fingerling on a 6" Senko with a 5.0 hook and 17lb test line.
This fish was released alive
Here is how we came up with how it happened:
I got a hit from a decent size bass and when I set the hook it slipped and hooked the fingerling that the bass was feeding on in the side.
Other than that there is no explanation (typing while humming the theme to "The Outer Limits").

A big bullfrog on a spinnerbait
On my line- a seagull grabbed a red and white popper right out of the sky
Also didn't really catch it but one day my dad and I were in our canoe paddling back in to the landing and about a 24" snot rocket jumped in. I was in the front and saw a wake comin head on and all of a sudden it flew in and made a decent thud on the aluminum.
btw: snot rocket=little northern pike
