The Bass Pros 2024

fishing user avatarIma Bass Ninja reply :

Should be renamed to KVD and friends....sheesh...i've watched every episode this season and they use him for just about every major segment they have. I have seen Stacy King 1 time and Ott Defoe do none of them. I'm sorry but i would like to get off the KVD express and hear from some of the other really talented anglers they have.

i am now done ranting now ...carry on! :laugh5:

fishing user avatarSenkoman12 reply :

its one of better shows out there. atleast you might be able to learn something on there unlike many of the others which are just infomercials

fishing user avatarIma Bass Ninja reply :

I agree that it is a great show with lots of information. But, i would like to hear advice from some of the other pros.....if i hear "it really has an erratic action to it" one more time i may just pull what little hair i have left on my head out. I do believe KVD is the only person that imparts an erratic action when dead stickin a senko.... :laugh5:

fishing user avatarbasscatcher8 reply :

I have seen Ott Defoe do a couple of em. Tim Horton had one a couple weeks ago. But I agree there are a hell of alot of KVD segments. But hey the guy is good and hes a proven money magnet for baits. I still like Edwin Evers segments the best.

fishing user avatarRevo_Carrot Stix reply :

At least he's not kissing fish or hollering "son!" every other sentence... The "erratic action" comment is spot on...but it could be a lot worse. The Bass Pro's is the best that's out there now. I also enjoyed the short run of Bass Edge.

fishing user avatarsenile1 reply :

Keep watching it and I expect it will even out. KVD probably does more of the 5 minute segments, but at least in past seasons everything has been spread around pretty good, especially the in-depth segment. I didn't know much about Stacy King until watching this show, but the past couple of years he has made a believer out of me with some real hawgs in his in-depth pieces. Evers and Horton have provided some great segments as well.

fishing user avatarAluma-Bass reply :

Great show....one of the most informative ones out there!

fishing user avatarRiverFisher13 reply :

I think ive seen maybe one episode that didnt have KVD on it. But it is one of the best. two other ones i watch religiously are north american fisherman and anglers edge (love the linders)

fishing user avatarOnthePotomac reply :

This is a Bass Pro Shops show and he is their star. That said, I have seen all of the BPS pro staff on the shows and some with no KVD at all.

I started liking Bass Edge too. If I'm reading the site correctly, I believe they are having webisodes on their site.

Fishing University is BY FAR the worst

fishing user avatarjmed999 reply :

I don't like Lunkerville. It's just boring...not sure why people watch that show. JMHO.

fishing user avatarRevo_Carrot Stix reply :

I obviously watch too many fishing shows.

Second and gaining ground to the "erratic action" phrase, is:

[after first fish is caught] "...that was a good fish. Hold on, let me put down my Power Poles." (push remote and watch Power Poles go down)

fishing user avatar200racing reply :

i get tired of kvd real quick. his style of fishing doesnt work on our local lakes too well. he didnt do well at all when the elites did jordan and the alabama river.

fishing user avatarmarinetech reply :

any fishing show that does not have Roland Martin I will watch

fishing user avatarCrestliner2008 reply :

I agree, The Bass Pros is the most informative show this season. I have it set to record on the DVR every week. Most of the shows though are definitely product related. Like to see one where the guy goes fishing with differents brands during the same episode.

fishing user avatarbasscatcher8 reply :

The Bass Pros

The Angling Edge

The Next Bite

Are my three shows I gotta catch every week. They are the best for teaching that I have found and they cover all the species that I like to catch.

fishing user avatarJIGFISHERMAN. reply :

Best thing that could have happened to the show was removing Clunn!!!!

fishing user avatarChiCityBasser reply :

I like the Bass Pros as well and the Linder shows but WFN has a couple I like as well Facts of Fishing, Extreme Angler and JP Derosa "Getting School'd" are all pretty good and informative as well. I agree that Roland Martin and Shaw Grigsby shows are Infomercials as well. I also like Lost Lake which is very informative and has featured many pros from both BASS and FLW.

fishing user avatarbowhunter63 reply :

I wish they had more Stacy King.I had the pleasure of meeting him Class act guy.I enjoy the show,Pretty informative.

fishing user avatarbassh8er reply :

Maybe they always show KVD because he's winning??? When's the last time Stacey King or Ott Defoe won back to back Classics and AOY?

x2... one of just a couple shows I DVR every week.

fishing user avatarMrPerfect reply :

I love the show and Evers is clearly my favorite in terms of providing information without adding to much about product. I like Stacey King, but I can only handle his voice in small doses. KVD is great, but he is starting to add certain "catch phrases" that make me afraid he is going to turn into the next Bill Dance or Roland Martin.

+1 on Evers. he did a whole segment the other day about brush piles and i dont think had his jersey on once. Was nice to see a normal lookin dude out fishing and sinking brush piles. Ive meet him before as well and he was a stand up guy as well.

theres was one episode about strike king ocho, kvd said it has erratic action, i stopped watching the kvd segement, i like edwin evers

I agree that was one of the better segments. I also really enjoyed his segment in the magnum shakey heads. I actually enjoy Stacy king advice too. I'm sure I'd enjoy ott Defoe if he ever does one. probably the only one I haven't gotten much use from is Brain Snowden. Not because of him but what they had him teaching.

That isn't BS on his end.

It DOES have erratic action. I was amazed when I saw it on Hook N Look.....You could really see it with the under water shot.

like bass ninja said, it really annoys me everytime i watch bass pro and kvd said that lure have erratic action, also there was a episode on smallmouth and tube, kvd said tube has erratic action, its same as bill dance say son, biggun, its getting annoying

fishing user avatarBigbarge50 reply :

Evers is the best on there in my opinion too.

Maybe I am crazy, but I have always been disapointed in this show. I thought it would be more informative then it is (lots of commercial time seemingly.....especailly that KVD fishing in the BPS tank) but compared to most, it is pretty informative.

Bill Dance might be on all private ponds and have his catch phrases, but he does actually talk technique, boat placement, and structure....... I think he does not get enough credit for the information he puts out there. I thought the spinning real stuff he has had on there a little bit ago was actually really good and tthe best info I have seen so far this season.

the spinning rod/reel episode was one of the best, i learned more from it than another past episodes

ew... yuk... blech... i feel sick... i just wanna be liked.

i know your type... you're that guy who's foot is always on the trolling motor, and when u catch a fish, you move down the bank... and there i am on the back of the boat, wanting to stay and catch all the rest of the fish there... but you're run and gun... high octane... racing to catch that BIG BASS!

buhahahaaa!

i'm kidding you, of course... just having fun... Lunkerville is not for everyone... we're doing something a little different: embracing the goodness and recreational aspect of fishing... trying to get people outside and away from their computers and video games... we're offering a program that is entertaining and makes people think about those good fishing memories when they were a kid... something that no one else seems to be doing... i understand it's not everyones cup of tea, and that's cool.

but don't sell us short either... check out a few more episodes... it might grown on you!

fishing user avatarpaulmandude reply :

What happend to the show??

I was waiting all day to watch todays episode.

It's not bad enough that my team lost in the Super Bowl, but to have their parade start and be on over The Bass Pros is a huge smack in the face!

fishing user avatarbasscatcher8 reply :

yeah they pre empted the next bite as well....only thing i got on the dvr today was Bill's show.

fishing user avatarjdw174 reply :

The Bass Pros will repeat the one that was pre-empted this coming Sunday at 11AM. Bass Pros is my favorite right now. I also loved Classic Patterns, but sadly there won't be any new shows produced this year :mad9: . I also like Lost Lake, but they're also all re-runs and emails from me trying to find out about new shows have not been answered. The J.P. DeRose show isn't bad either. Fishing University is a total 30-minute infomercial and a joke. I refuse to watch Roland Martin catch ANYTHING, likewise Shaw Grigsby. I admit to being a big KVD fan, but like some of you, I think his segments on TBP's are very predictible. In fact, any video with him in it is that way. Evers is a very close runner to KVD, and I always watch his segments. He's had some of the best.

fishing user avatarIma Bass Ninja reply :

Man was i ticked when i sat down to watch my dvr'd Bass pro's and saw the giants parade :mad5: ...i immediatly looked to see when it re-aired so i could record that one. Looks like it will be a good show with some useful topics :respect-059:

fishing user avatarmsolorio reply :

yea seriously! idc about the giants parade, i just wanna watch the bass pros! lol

Extreme angler isn't too bad a show either.

fishing user avatar00 mod reply :

I watched a show on tv the other day in which Shaw Grigsby took a double amputee Marine who had served 3 tours out fishing for 2 days on a show called "Ultimate fishing experience". Shaw let him drive his boat, was VERY patient with him in every aspect, and you could see it in his eyes when the marine caught fish! He sat and talked to him more than he fished and you could tell he really genuinely cared.

Shaw is my new favorite angler!!

The show was VERY touching to me, and moved me to realize things that we take for granted could be gone in an instant!

So to you guys who are hating on Shaw, I challenge you to look this show up(episdoe specific) and tell me it isn't one of the best fishing shows you have ever seen!

Jeff

I can tell you from experience, Shaw is a legit guy. Probably my favorite pro angler. You gotta like how he can still be competive at the pro level. I honestly think alot of the old school legends are overated compared to the elite modern guys. Its so much more competive now.

Ultimate Fishing experience is rapidly becoming one of my favorite shows.. The 2 before the Shaw Grigsby episode were awesome as well...Can't wait to see the episode of the guy that fished in the Southern Open.

Interesting point of view on the old school vs elite modern anglers.

Yeah that may have been a little over the top lol. I just think its awesome to see him in the thick of things, alot of the old schoolers cant compete any more.

Shaw seems about as genuine as it gets to me, so he's right up there with Hank Parker for me as far as "old school" guys go. I also saw the Fishing Experience show and it just further solidified what I already thought about Shaw.

Paul Elias would be considered to be and old schooler and won an event which started the a-rig craze. I think they have there places in time for any angler.

fishing user avatarTourPT reply :

I watch all the fishing shows I can, even the ones I am not really all that into like salt water fishing for its still better then anything else on TV these days, but what I want to know is why the heck was Zona's show a rerun last night already? It can't be rerun time already, they just started the season a few weeks ago. You got 5 million hunting shows all year long and just a few fishing shows for a few months and its rerun time already? Zona get your butt back out on the water and record something. LOL
