Music While You Fish? 2024

fishing user avatar.dsaavedra. reply :

hey guys, i was just curious, how many of you listen to an ipod or radio or any other kind of music while you fish?

i personally never have, i would think that i'd be more concentrated on fishing without music, but i have never tried fishing with music.

fishing user avatarislandbass reply :

I choose not to for the same reasons as you. Besides, taking in nature' music is better. But in the car, on the way to and home, that's a different story. :)

fishing user avatarMasshole Mike reply :

i'm always rockin an ipod when i fish by myself.

im sure if i was fishing by my self i would be more likely to listen to my ipod, but i probably still wouldnt because i'd need to concentrate on my fishing.

I'm going to guess that at least 50% of the membership here has no idea what an 8 track is.   ;D

You betcha ! Wait, I think I saw one in Le Louvres Museum once  ;) ;D !

As for music while I fish .... hum never ! I just don't want to miss that big topwater bite in my back and I want to be able to hear it and turn around  :P

fishing user avatarGrey Wolf reply :

Nope!!!!!!!!!!!! It's my back to nature time.

fishing user avatarThe Rooster reply :

If I'm in the boat bass fishing then I'd never do it.  On the bank using bait for bass, or catfish, or whatever I might do that, or if I'm at a family gathering and fishing at the same time.  So I voted sometimes.  But really it's mostly never cause I do far more bass fishing from my boat than anything else.

fishing user avatarFishinDaddy reply :

I'll bet 25% have never even seen vinyl. ;D

fishing user avatarslomoe reply :

Sometimes, but I only have one earbud in and I keep it low.

fishing user avatarCujo reply :

Tried it before, but just rather enjoy the sounds of nature.

I was fortunately at the right age that I got to see 8 tracks and definitely had many vinyls, but was glad to see that era go.  ;D

fishing user avatarJig Man reply :

No music for me.  I don't even want the guy in the back to talk.

fishing user avatarBankbeater reply :

I like to listen for them when they jump.

fishing user avatarba7ss3in reply :

Not when I'm bassfishing but catfishing and saltwater fishing, I will.

fishing user avatarfishizzle reply :

My cassette player sunk or shall I call it a Boom Box.

Metallica Black Rocks--Unforgiven

fishing user avatarPegleg reply :

I never have music in the boat. I don't even play the radio in the car or truck unless its time for the news. I do carry a little portable radio in the summer and its switched to AM so I can hear the crackle of lightning. My boat is very slow so the radio is my early warning for thunder storms.

fishing user avatardrkilldrmz reply :

I have a radio in the boat for sox games. If im stream fishing, i carry a portable for the tent later in the day.

fishing user avatarRoLo reply :

I've been highly interested (obsessed) in wildlife since around the age of 7 or 8.

Today I can identify close to 100% of the birds I hear based on their song or note.

Toting artificial din into the great outdoors would only make me feel lonely and disjointed.

I've spent years fishing on the Atlantic Ocean and never once even thought about music. Sorry Steve Tyler, I'd rather listen to Franklin gulls ;D

The unmistakable splash of a feeding bass can be heard a looong distance,

but not if natural sounds are overwhelmed by manmade noise

Roger

fishing user avatarTin reply :

Disturbed, Steve Miller, Skynyrd, it's all good. I'll even take some rap.

fishing user avatarroadwarrior reply :

Fat girls like country music!

Welcome aboard!

fishing user avatarZel... reply :

I've always been a little partial to Ride of the Valkyries blaring out the Fis'n'Ski's CD player, screaming down the lake during duck season, dodging buckshot.

fishing user avatarHesterIsGod reply :

Nope, never listen to music.

fishing user avatarBassinBoy reply :

Not normally but a good song or two before for can excite me for a good day.

fishing user avatarCaptain Cali reply :

Never.

I need to hear my surroundings. I mostly bank fish at night in areas known for mountain lions. They are sneaky enough as it is so I need every advantage I can get.

Plus, IMO, music would take away from the peacefulness of the outdoors.

fishing user avatarHookemdown. reply :

Gotta love Aerosmith

fishing user avatarguitarkid reply :

I am 19 and have heard of 8 tracks , and vinyls. I have also touched some.

now about the music.

Bank fishing-sometimes depends if I remember

Boat (if i am on one) I think I would not want any music.

fishing user avatarQuinn reply :

I selected some times, but when I do, it's not music, it's (man I'mgonna get basted for this) talk radio.

Same for me, just country!!!

;) 8-)

fishing user avatarMicro reply :

Where I fish, there are no highways nearby.  There's an occassional plane.  But otherwise, it's just the sound of nature.  I don't get to hear just that enough to drown it out with music.

It sucks in the summer you cant hear the nature at all with a million jet skis flying by. Thats the only time I listen to music while fishing.

Sox and Aerosmith, sure you were not born in New England?

fishing user avatarCigarlover 1 reply :

I love to listen to music to relax but when I'm out on a lake Mother Nature wins out over music. I can listen to music when I get back home.  ;)

fishing user avatarjrhennecke reply :

Never have.  I can listen to music all week. When on the water I just want to relax and fish.

fishing user avatarZEN BASSIN reply :

Going to and from the lake in the truck (Free bird). Once on the lake its all zen... Game on  :)!!
