a shot in the dark this, but what lakes do you fish regularly and what are the names of some honeyholes on those lakes? Not names you've given them, but holes that most locals are aware of. not looking for exact whereabouts, just the names of the holes. and what is your most productive lure in these spots?
Thanks!
just realized i coulda come up with a better title given the open boys locker room :-[
For what purpose? I can't see any good coming out of posting spots on the internet.
just names. not locations. thinking about making some t shirts. for example, i fish Ross Barnett regularly, and there is a spot called sunken ship point where some folks sunk a party barge several years ago, that is an easy name for a nice fishing location
LOL! This is gonna be a fun thread! ;D
Who's gonna go first?
Reread your query, then. You ask for lake, recognizable name of a spot, and baits to use. Again, for what purpose? How would any of this relate to your own circumstances? If you need help with something, be specific, and ask.
it's going to be sort of an "i've fished here" or "i survived lake x" kinda thing that fishermen can relate to and collect as they travel and fish these lakes. if i knew the name of your honey hole, but not its exact location, then how am i a threat?

Fun or funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i got a couple.
the spot with the shade and the spot without. ;D
haha your not getting anything out of us!!!! nice idea but no one wants to give up there honey hole!
Good concept, but asking fellow fishermen where their favorite Honey Hole is, is like cracking a safe...

i think i have specified enough times that i'm looking for the name of the hole only. not where.
My lakes don't have names. None of the spots have names. The one I usually fish on I go by: The cove with the hydrilla. Submerged point 1, 2, etc. Irrigation pipe 1, 2, etc.
yeah i figured that most people wouldn't have a name. guess i should've specified I was looking for the bigger more popular lakes like Castaic, Fork, Lay Lake, Champlain, St Clair, etc.
St Clair has the 9 mile and the "Firecracker". I could be wrong, but I believe the firecracker is around where the St Clair river meets the lake. From what I heard it has a bunch of small craters on the river/lake bottom, and that the smallies love to hide in them. Funny because when I was taken there I caught a smallie by burning an Indiana/Colorado spinnerbait about a foot underneath the surface.
A local lake I fish has the "earthen dam" which is usually a nice spot.
I'll cough one up.
Gun Lake - South of Grand Rapids, Michigan.
The "Sand-Suck Holes"
And yes, I've got a map that actually names them that.
There are no honey holes left in so.cali...
Just so someone gives you what you are looking for, here are a few of the popular spots on Clear Lake
Henderson Point
Shag Rock
Kono Tayee
Bass Alley
Jago Bay
Rattlesnake Island
Cache Creek

Sweet guys, now we're talking. Keep em coming.

Fixed ;D ;D
But seriously, everybody around here knows about "the mile roads" and "the dumping grounds" if you fish here, you know where they are.
We have several community honey holes on Clarks Hill and most of them have nicknames. Just like with any lake you can use any type of lure depending on time of year, preference, and conditions.
I'll name a few though.
Hippie Cove
Church Cove
Jackfish Cove
Gracewood
College Cove
Cardiac Blow-through
Whitebass Island
Horseshoe Island
Camel Humps
Monkey Islands
Not necessarily a honey hole but a popular meeting spot on Lake Murray (SC) is called Hurricane Cove.
One of my old favorite places on Fork was called "Chicken Ridge"

That wasn't too hard. Try to be more upfront about your requests. Notice that NO ONE posted any info until you specified the purpose?

Castaic is a small lake less than 3 miles long, but it is popular. Tight lipped doesn't do a bass angler justice. Not only are bass anglers secret about where they fish, they also will lie and will tell you anything to keep you away from their spots.
Typical answers; the ski arm, the fish arm, Elizabeth canyon, any area marked on the lake map.

I will throw a little twist in here. The great thing about living in Virginia is that you are close to the ocean and bay. 8-) So here are some off the coast (within 60 miles) of VA, Deleware and Maryland.
Elephant Trunk
The Triangles
Jackspot
Hot Dog (know as "fishin the dog")

The diaper stump.
Here's two popular striper spots.
Hens and Chickens reef, just south of Gooseberry Island, in Westport, MA. There is one rock that stands alone with a spindle to warn mariners that is known as Old ****, goes with the Hens and Chickens. The Chickens Channel runs between Gooseberry and the Chickens as it is called by the locals.
Extending from Cuttyhunk into Rhode Island sound is another rocky reef, only three or four miles SSE of Hens and Chickens.
It is a bit larger, so it is aptly named Sow and Pigs.
