How many of you guys kiss the fish you catch. I don't know how i thought of this, but it's always been a tradition of mine to at least kiss the first fish that i catch. I was just wondering how many of you guys did this. That and do any others have any "rituals" they perform everytime you go out fishing. Wierd topic but i thought i would ask it. I started kissing my fish when my friend told me to once on a dare. Then the rest of the day the fishing was great so i just kept doing it.
I kiss all the fish I catch. I tell them thank you when I let them go to.
The wierd part is when i catch the first fish of the day and I do the happy happy fish dance
Its kinda like the cabbage patch with a hook set at the end ;D
sound like a fun guy to fish with. I wish i had a happy dance. But i just dont got those kind of moves. Ha. But im sure thats why the fish keep coming. ;D
haha, I don't know about kissing my fish, but I do like to talk to them...tell them their beautiful and give em a gently pat on the back before releasing them.
i have to say, there is nothing like a conversation witha fish. They listen very well. Ha. It's nice to know fisherman are trying to relate to their fish. ha.
I always say "thanks little buddy" every time I catch a fish. Dunno why, its just something I've always done. No kissing and hugging and all that stuff, but I guess I like to let mother nature know that I treasure the gifts she gives us.
I say thank you as well. I only kiss the female fish though.
I like to suck fish face.
Or whoever else is still avialable at closing time.
I french kiss mine!
I just say thank you when I put them back in the water.

I would express my feelings for the fish, but I'd probably be sent packing.
I kiss them.
I don't hug them.
I also kiss the dog.
QuoteI french kiss mine!
um, ouch.
I kissed one once and her lip caught on my lip and those cool scratches you get on your thumb don't feel so cool on your lip. Of course I still kiss 'em but I'm more careful now, lol.
Ha,ha. I have kissed all my bass for years. I take a ribbing for it. I have been guiding for 17 years and I have a few clients that do the same thing, lol. I am wondering to myself how many fish I have kissed over the last thirty odd years. I don't even remember when I started this practice. I don't kiss the fish we catch around Three Mile Island though, no way, nada. I will say this, some of the fish I have kissed are prettier than some of my most recent dates !!!
LBH, don't french kiss them, they scratch the heck out of your tongue !!! ;D
I know, I know, I get too aggressive sometimes,lol.
I do believe that this one kiss gave my immune system a run for it's money. You always hear about the bacteria, microbes and parasites associated w/ freshwater fish and that's all I could think of for the rest of the day because it doesn't just sting, it's like a burn/itch. I was actually nervous about it by the end of the day but by day 2 , it was gone so back to chasin' the girls.
I kiss the bigger ones, but almost always tell the rest of them thank you and how pretty they are. Then ask them to send me their momma or grandma!
I dont kiss every fish, I'm alittle more particular. They have to get me in the mood first by putting out...I mean UP a good fight. having a good full body is a plus and I'll kiss any fish that will give me the shakes!
Hey T-rig, I'd love to see that !!! :-) LOL
I've kissed a few of them, but ordinarily I just thank them for coming into my boat for a photo session and weighing :-)
I'll tell you what I have always kind of tripped on though.... You guys ever hold a bass sideways to you, and shift their head towards and away from you ? I swear they will shift their eyes back and forth so they can keep looking straight at you ! Pretty weird. Try it. But don't trip on it too long.... get her back in the water ASAP...... if you want the chance to catch her again, when she is even bigger.....
Peace,
Fish

I think she just likes you.... :-*
Hey Fish!
I notice that one in your avatar is smiling. What did you do to her?
Maybe I am the only one ..... but I have had a few of them tell me I was beautiful.
As for the post .... I don't kiss and tell

I must admit, I'm a fish-kisser, too. I don't kiss them all (usually the bigger ones), but I like to talk to them. I'll tell the little ones to go grow up and I'll tell the big mama's to go back to making babies (I guess I could tell the little buck bass that, too.) I don't want the bass to suffer from low self-esteem. What's more fun is to see the one's who wave goodbye with their tailfin and do a little dance for me across the water as I let them go.
OK, now this is a thread called 'kissing your fish'. It is almost two pages long now. I'm beginning to wonder if I should be worried about some of my BR buddies here. There's not a "Lonely Hearts Bass Club" out there? Is there?

Wow, you guys need to go fish or something. You should do like me, when I went fishing yesterday, wind pounding against my face, half the lake iced over, freezing cold, that's the best kind of fishing. ;D
I stopped kissing fish,
when I learned that Jimmy Houston has Halibutosis.

I have never kissed a fish and never will. The only way I will kiss a fish is if it a state or world record.
I usually just take the hook out fast and say thanks, then tell them to tell their granpa and grandma to eat that black blue jig. ;D

C'mon man, you'll never get over the fear of rejection till you tackle it head on!
QuoteI have never kissed a fish and never will. The only way I will kiss a fish is if it a state or world record.
Amen to that. I'm with ya. Never kissed one and never will.
Usually I'll just talk to em while I'm bringing em in. After that I'll unhook em, we'll sit down and talk a little more. Catch up on the family and all that. Maybe have some tea. lol
Seriously I am a creature of habit so I always be sure to tell them thanks and that I'll see them soon. Somehow that makes me think I've got a better chance of catching them again.
I kiss my first of the day and I tell the rest thanks. I don't try to kiss the saltwater fish there teeth are to BIG

Well russ I have not clue what to say to that. But all I know is that I would rather kiss a woman then a fish. Plus after you kiss a woman you don't smell like a fish. I guess it depends on the woman you kiss.
Don't you know when you kiss a fish without protection it's just like kissing every fisherman that has ever caught that fish before?
well i kiss every fish that i catch almost there is just nothing like having fish slime slowly oozing off of your lip i also talk to them tell ya know to go get bigger or whatever then i thank the good bass lord for sending me that fish.
I would never kiss a fish. I figure my handling of them is enough interaction for 'em. I do talk to them though.
Kiss a fish? I would rather lick a toilet.
Well really, aren't the fish swimming around in a big toilet. Ha
Exactly.
Never kissed a fish and never will! ;D I will give them a nice "you are one pretty fish" and then release them. Now if I caught a huge bass (5 pounds plus) then I might consider kissing them. Other than that, no way man! lol! ;D
Wow, I haven't posted in a long time on this site..
Anyways..I always catch the fish I catch...well...only the bass...I just can't see my self kissing a sunny or a blue fish!!
HI I kiss my fish too. and thank them I do all catch and release .The small ones I tell them not to tell mommy what hapened and to come back when the grow up.the big ones I say ty for a great fight and hope to meet again. fishing out of a kayak with a fly rod sure can be exciting. Lori
I usually kiss my fish. Like many of the guys I thank that beauty, and then make it promise me not to tell anyone that I'm here are what I'm using. I also ask them to tell their enemy fish to eat that tasty worm that's crawling by. As I was growing up and teaching my little sister to fish, I always taught her to kiss and talk to her fish. She does it quite often and has become quite the fisherwoman. Here is a nice 4 pounder she caught in Maine. http://lowphotos.com/fishing/index.html
she looks like she's about to go Bear Grylls on that fish and eat it, lol.
Ya really all you who don't kiss your fish, Bear Grylls takes a bite out of the living fish. And look at him, hes awesome. Ha
I have kissed many different kinds of fish including catfish (very slimy),bluegill, chain pickerel, bass, baracuda , tuna, snapper (one almost locked his jaws on my lip),crappie and probably a few others. Wow i just realized how much i get around with these fish . I should probably cut down before I get a dirty reputaion. I just cant help it, they are so beautiful!
I kiss my fish I'll post a pick when i go to Fork this weekend. Nev
