How many fish have you caught this year? Any size, bass species only. Lets see the numbers.
Any species, any size (not just bass)? You're going to have to go well north of 199 before I can answer this poll, and I think it's been a slow year

I guessed 110-119, but I honestly don't know. If it was just bass I'd have a better idea since I just started targeting bass exclusively. I'm going to guess my number is low, but I'll be conservative

It only let me allow 20 replies. I changed the poll to bass only in hopes to get a more accurate poll.

I understand that. Personally I enjoy keeping track. It gives me a goal and motivates me to catch more fish than the year before.
Lol hard to keep track! Pre spawn lake Oroville I think I caught 100 in a 2 day week end

seems like it would just add more pressure to me, part of why i fish is to escape the pressures of daily everyday life. i dont want to feel pressured to catch more fish than the year before, i dont want to feel pressured to feel like i have to go fishing more than i do go. i always want to get better but i dont want to compete with myself either. and honestly, most of the time i dont care to let it affect me if i catch fish or not, its about so much more to me than that...others may feel different, as you say it motivates you, its just not something im into now or see myself getting into. if it helps you become a better angler by keeping records of your fishing days then thats great, as for me i just choose to work off my memory and instincts as i always have in the past...
I've been three times and guess I have caught close to 200 fish .The vast majority between 12 and 15 inches ,and only 11 over fifteen inches . I just know some good spots on a small reservoir . Norman Deep Little N has been the biggest producer so far .
More than this poll can count.
Sitting around 20ish. But to be fair I just started fishing a couple months ago so I missed prespawn

I understand that, that's essentially the same reason why I don't fish tournaments.
Don't attempt to keep track of #'s. Do keep a log but that is just to record specifics about date, water temp, general weather, and unique and/or significant events. I generally lose track somewhere between 6 and 12 no way to even guess for bass this year. Experienced my wife catching her 1st, 2nd, and 3rd bass ever and also watched her rookie a nice one (between 5 and 6lbs.). I'm guessing I taught her well, especially the rookie move, I have that one down
If I had to put a # on it, 183.428

Total guess. The vote options are too specific for everyone outside of those that keep exact track.

I am keeping count this year.........for no other reason than to just know, and because I never have kept track before.
As of right now, I have been fishing 51 times in 2016, I average about 3-4 hours of fishing per trip, and have caught over 600 bass.
I have no idea how many Pike, rockbass, crappies, bluegills and other misc. fish I have caught while bass fishing..........100's if not more.
I do know I have caught ZERO walleyes, carp or trout LOL.
Most of my bass have been caught about 6 different baits/presentations:
A jig.either flipped, swam, or dragged
A 5" wacky rigged Yum dinger
A Frog
A suspending jerkbait
A a texas rigged craw/creature bait
And a 4" or 6" worm on a drop shot
There have been a few misc. days when I have caught them on Chatterbaits, blade baits, lipless crank baits, shaky heads, a t-rigged worm, and carolina rigs
One of my staples..........a squarebill has SUCKED for me this year. Hopefully the late summer/fall bite on those will be better.
I have not done a whole lot of "finesse fishing" this year with down sized versions of my normal stuff like 4" dingers, small creature baits,etc...but those days are coming

Same here.I have caught well over 200 bass this year alone, all on artificials.

2.
A big one & a little one.

It has to be around 150 bass. I haven't fished much since March though.
You would need to make the pole in at least 122 fish increments for my 2,953 total fish to be in that range.. Most were largemouth bass, but also a a little over five hundred white bass.
But although I catch quit a few bass (mostly thanks to the ned rig) many of the bass are smaller, with this years average bass measuring only 12.6 inches long.
Since I decided to do it right this year and started with my first bass of the year in January, I am also happy to see that I am well out of your given range. Even my wife who just started fishing in late April probably hits mid range. We fish a lot and they might not all be legendary, but they are all fun to catch. Last day I was skunked, I left early because snow was falling.
Quite a few but haven't ever kept records of numbers. Like has already been mentioned I fish for relaxation no need to stress over keeping counts or records.
My personality is one where keeping track of things is fun, not stressful. I enjoy looking back on the records I have kept, for me it helps reinforce memories that otherwise may get foggy over time. I don't go overboard with the record keeping, I am still out there to fish, not do data entry in Quickbooks. I keep track of just enough to make me happy.
That said, as of July 2nd of this year, I have gone out 30 times (average trip 6-7 hours) and have caught 906 bass so far. The most in a day was 51, which included a flurry of 18 fish in less than 90 minutes and the least in a full day outing was 14 on the 3rd of January (although I did have a 2 hr mini-trip where I caught 6). I didn't total up the numbers per lure type yet (that is a end of the year thing) but it looks like the Ned rig will most likely defend his title of #1 fish catcher against a myriad of challengers,
I had a very slow morning this morning and only put 12-15 fish in the boat.
The one year that I kept track, it took me until April 30th to hit 1,000. 100 fish days are not uncommon in our lakes (home of the Ned rig afterall), they just aren't very big a majority of the time.
My big one from this morning was only 3lb 5oz on a frog, which is a very large fish for this lake.
I didn't see the "Any species", part. I maxed out this one before the end of January no doubt thanks to the white bass in the power plant lakes.
For a idea of numbers, this trip is on a power plant lake with @gardnerjigman the first week of February. It's edited way down, with over 100 white bass left edited out.
To give an idea of how many fish we were catching, I left the camera going for 5 minutes at one point.
Would rather count the days I get to fish....fishing is always good....catching can be limiting. But if I were required to keep track it would be in hundreds.
Bass season doesn't start for me until the ice melts..... Since April I have caught 576 largemouth bass on 41 outings, 21 % have been larger then 3 lbs. I usually target bigger fish so my numbers do suffer a bit. Biggest so far is 7-10. Last year ended with 952 largemouth bass, 18 % over 3 lbs. Going to try and break the 1000 marker like in years past. Our season is limited by ice. Most years I can fish from April - Nov.
I really don't target smallmouth very much but so far have caught. Ive caught 59 smallmouth, 20 over 3 lbs. Biggest so far is 4-12.
I know exactly how many bass I have caught this year but i'm to lazy to look it up so I just guessed.
i don't keep count either, but i know for sure i haven't caught enough!!
Fishing is, to me, like drinking. I never count.
I have spent a total of less than an hour fishing so far 2016
Hey but I have caught 32 fish this year over 21 inches
I fish 300 days per year. I have caught at least 2000 this year.
