I voted cranking, which is by far my favorite. But I usually catch more on soft plastics. T rigs and C rigs. Topwater bites are always alot of fun though.
Early summer walk the dog explosions.
Spawn.
I love it all but I guess my favorite "hit" would be topwater. I am usually wormin or jigin.
Worming is my favorite method ("Topwater" is the most exciting, but not nearly as productive).
Finesse fishing gives me a feeling of achievement, like I had something to do with the catch.
Cranking a handle does not give me the same feeling of achievement, but makes me feel like a pawn.
I'm sure my wife is tired of hearing me ask a hooked crankbait bass the same ole question, "What made you do that anyway?"

Although I don't seem to have the patience for this very often, I'd have to say that my favorite way to catch bass is with a fly rod and fly on 6lb test.
I usually go with plastic worms - T-rigged, and spinnerbaits.
I hate worming & jigging, catch about one third of my fish by worming & jigging, but ya know .......... a man gotta do what he gotta do.
Live bait ? won 't touch that even with a 20 ft pole.
Flippin' and Pitchin' dirty south style................................all day!!!! 8-)
I voted wormin'... There is nothing like feeling that tap and seeing your line swim off! Intense! However topwater can be really exciting too!! Crankin' can be fun but it doesnt seem like much skill involved in it once you catch one.
what no froggin.............im not playing this game.....ok i vote topwater.
I love to fish soft jerkbaits, but I voted for live bait just because when I fish with my dad, we only live bait. It's a lot of fun too.
favorite = worming
but nothing really beats top water
Top water is my favorite way to fish, but not my most productive. I fish a lot of plastics, t-rigged or carolina rigged worms, lizards, and paca craws are the most productive for me. Catch a few on a drop shot, and a few crankin, and with spinner baits, but since I learned how to fish the bottom first, it is still my most productive, I have real trouble with suspended fish.
Deep water structure
My two main ways of fishing are to crank 'em then finesse 'em
To me there is nothing better thank thinkin'... I bet there is a fish on that log. Pitchin' out and having the bait hammered almost instantly
Wormin' is a close second though!
Flipping wins hands down for me. Even if I'm throwin a t-rig there's a good chance im just beating the bank with it.
I enjoy all except live bait, but give me a t-rigged soft plastic (worm, craw, etc) and I'm happy as can be.
I would have to say, there is nothing like a smallmouth almost ripping the rod out of your hands while throwing a jerkbait.
I like crankin, with jiggin with soft plastics in a close second.
crankin
Top water has always been my favorite till lately and lately I have fell prey to jig fishing. I am slowly learning there is no wrong way to fish a jig, no wrong time, to wrong water conditions, it just does not matter. Fish will hit a jig anytime and anywhere for pretty much any reason.
Later,
QuoteI would have to say, there is nothing like a smallmouth almost ripping the rod out of your hands while throwing a jerkbait.
X2, there's nothing better
combo fishing. I make the most of my casts (because i shore fish in limited structure situations) by fliping & pitching a ton of different baits to obvious targets, then swiming, jiging, ect what ever im fishing back through mulitiple secondary target opportunities.... so its breaking traditional rules about each kind of fishing, but it gets the job done.
Im now a HUGE jig fishing fan. but i dont think anyone can deny that a topwater bite is the most fun of all when its hot! ;D
Until this year I would only use worms but then all of a sudden I started throwing jigs and can't stop. A nice top water explosion is awesome though. Is live bait even legal?? ;D
I love it all,But I'm very partial to Crankin'....I love Lipless.over grass beds and boulders.. and shallow sguare bills over submerged trees the best!...Man just talkin about it makes me start to SHAKE!!! :D ;D..hehe...BASS ON!!!!!!
At the moment my setups are limited, so I can only fish a few baits. I voted for spinnerbaiting this time.
There's nothing better than a topwater bite.
I love any kind of bass fishin', but topwater is "tops". LOL. Seriously, I love topwater and am versital at it. I can usually get some bites, even in bluebird skies. I actually just tied my pb on smallmouth with a Heddon torpedo, and my pb Largemouth, as well as my second best, have come on topwater. Give me a buzzbait, Thunder Dawg, or Sub Wart and I'll catch 'em!!!!!!!!!!
I voted flippin' & pitchin'. When a big one hits that short line you know it. Getting close up is also why I like bowhunting. Worming is probably how I get 80% of my catch though.
Topwaterin'
Wormin but to be more specific, T-Rigging. Love trying different plastic baits with weight combinations. IMHO the most varying technique for all conditions. Can be fished top, middle and bottom.
I was torn between topwater and jiggin. Finally chose jiggin, just because I have caught more bass with jigs down deep than with topwaters this year.
I figures I would see more flipping and pitching votes. My Votes goes for the blade. ;D
Mottfia
flipping and pitching
Cranking Lipped baits or Blades, then Flip-pin & Pitch-in of Course. Top Water Bites of the New Soft Swim-Baits along them Lilly pads or grassy ledges.Drop Shot is coming to be another Favourite, dangling a Finns or pencil worm or Swim Bait on a 1/2ounce DSRig.
I throw poppers more now than ever.
I can't say It's poppers or nuthin, but I have learned that by varying the presentation you can attract topwater strikes when the "textbooks" say you shouldn't throw em.
i'm a certifiable topwater junkie ...next would be weightless riggin the plastics...then jiggin...
Topwater, can't beat that explosion
Worming all day for me. I caught all of my LMB on worming.
worms for me also, really the only bait i catch anything on. i am working on that though!
chunking and winding, keeps the day moving, doesn't always catch fish, so you have to have 5 or 6 different baits on deck.
Cranking and spinnerbaiting equals about ninety percent of my fishing. I also had alot of fun with soft swimbaits this Spring. If I'm not chucking and winding, I'm not fishing.
Falcon
topwater....... for me, done deal!!!
i catch many more, on almost all other tech's.....
but topwater is my favorite,
you just cant beat the heart pounding explosions :D
Being a Type A, I love crankbaits.
I don't live bait fish for bass but I have no preference for how I catch my fish.
I am with Catt on this-deep water structure-usually with a jig or C-rig. I know many use a deep crank in this spot, but I just don't like cranking much.
Finding off-shore structure and fish, and then getting them to bite is the best for me.
