Best:
1. Elite Series
2. The Bass Pros
3. Ultimate Match Fishing- was # 1 until this stupid college stuff. These guys stink!
4. Scott Martin Challenge
5. Day on the Lake
Honorable mention- FLW and WGFS (Zona is hilarious)
Worst:
1. Bill Dance- infomercial on private strip pits in FL that no one else can fish
2. Fishing University- infomercial and that's all
3. In Fisherman- they think Carp is a game fish.
4. Roland Martin- another infomercial
5. Bass Champs TV- the host is a complete jack_ss! Fishing action is actually pretty good.
Dishonorable mention- Shaw Grigsby- acts way too goofy when he hooks a fish- "oh man is ths awesome or what ?"; Bass Edge- host squeels like a little girl when he gets one on :-* .
WOW: The best show I ever watched was IN FISHERMAN, AL Linder is a great teacher!
Also Bill Dance; He covered rgging. depths etc., It may have been all his promo stuff( TV SHOWS ARE A BUSINESS) but he covered each class of baits, Who cares if they are private lakes, this guy showed me how toTrig!

Whoa, hold on.
In Fisherman is a GREAT fishing show.
My favorite by a long shot is In-Fisherman, I wouldn't mourn the loss of any other show (save Lindner's Angling Edge)
The In-Fisherman is extremely informative, and they employ the latest techniques and state-of-the-art photography.
I appreciate the fact that they're not stuck in a rut but cover all worthy fish including sturgeon, giant catfish and carp.
Once you've tangled with a 35-lb carp you gain a whole new respect.
Incidentally, if I'm not mistaken (may T-rig correct me if I'm wrong), I believe that the carp
was rated the number-one game fish in parts of Europe.

In fisherman is my favorite. I thought the how to jig for laries episode was excellent!
well..........to be honest all the bill dance out takes are great.

Since you made the thread I put my opinion into your post...
Beat Charlie Moore what in my opinion, that is a better show then some listed...
Unlike many shows this show does not have 10-20min of video recorder over a day to two days of fishing.
How could you put down a show/guy who takes challenges to air on TV without an enormous amounts of editing retakes and all of the other things that are in just about all fishing shows.
They even air episodes where he doesn't catch a lot of fish...
my top 5
#1 Scott Martin Challenge
#2 Bassmaster's Elite
#3 The Bass Pro's
#4 Ultimate Match Fishing
#5 Hank Parker (hasn't sold out just yet)
I really don't enjoy watching fishing on TV that much, I enjoy informative stuff and tournament's alot more that I do just watching people reel fish in.
Most hated
#1 One more cast with Shaw Grisby (SUFFIX, SUFFIX, SUFFIX)
#2 Roland Martin (oh look there I caught him right under the Mercury 225 Optimax)
#3 Bill Dance (hey folks we are here in my aquarium, hey camera man stick another 4 pounder clone of the last fish on my hook)
#4 Al Linder (don't know what it is about this guy, maybe his accent, haven't liked him since I was a kid)
#5 Allen Warren Outdoors (pansy with a glove)
Charlie Moore is a waste of good air time.
You do not learn anything other than watching a very acerbic individual who talks funny do some fishing.
Other shows are acceptable.
I would rather watch my Kevin VanDam, Woo Daves and other's DVDs and videos over and over than watch Charie Moore.
Roland Martin is my hero.
I just wish Ono made sunglasses for those without a need for bifocals.
1- On the water with Frogtog. ;D
Never get to watch any, I'm always fishing when they come on. :
To clarify my choices, let me just say that for a fishing program to get and hold my attention, it has to at least demonstrate something that is useful to me, I.E. technique, lure choices, color selection, use of sonar, etc.
That being said, here are my choices for best/worst fishing programs. (Some are no longer being made.. )
Best:
1. Schooled With Denny Brauer
2. Fishing With Larry Nixon
3. The Bass Pros
4. Bass Pro Shops Fishing (usually a good segment there about bassin)
5. In-Fisherman/Lindner's Angling Edge (Bass fishing segments only)
6. Scott Martin Challenge
7. Ultimate Match Fishing
8. Bassmaster Series
9. Day on the Lake
Honorable Mention: World's Greatest Fishing Show
Worst: (In no particular order)
Roland Martin - (I'd only spend time in a boat with him if I could tape his mouth shut)
One More Cast - (Like RM, a half hour infomercial interlaced with shots of the host giggling like a girl everytime he hooks a fish)
Bill Dance - (I cut my bass fishing teeth watching his show, back when he actually traveled to different lakes/rivers and hardly ever pushed his sponsors so blatantly as he does now. And those "captive" fish in those phosphate pits in Florida are getting a bit old....)
Bass Edge - (promises much and delivers little)
Bass Champs- (The show is 30 minutes long. Actual fishing time on air is probably 10 minutes. The rest is interviews.)
FLW Outdoors - (This show is a joke. Way too much time spent on interviews, personal items, local sites, and when you finally get on the water you have to set through the same fish being caught from four different camera views! BOOORING!!)
Fishing University- Another half hour infomercial.
Does "A day on the Lake" still come on?

No other show comes close to the hands-on informational content of this show. Al Linder or the Linder brothers, are my favorite fishermen of all time. Next on my list would be Bill Dance. I find his show entertaining and enjoy his wit and charm. I have met Bill on numerous occasions and he seems as genuine in person as he appears on his show.
8-)
Hey, I'll take any of them. I don't get any American bass fishing shows over here. I do have"The Fishing Channel" on Korean Cable, but it consists of about 10 hours a day of carp fishing shows, 10 hours of ocean fishing and the other four hours are random fishing shows...a couple of which might be a bass show each week. (Right now they are ice fishing for carp...woo hoo...I'm on the edge of my seat.)
So go ahead, pick your worst bass fishing TV show and send it on over here...I'll gladly take it.
"Next on my list would be Bill Dance. I find his show entertaining and enjoy his wit and charm. I have met Bill on numerous occasions and he seems as genuine in person as he appears on his show."
Don't get me wrong, I like Bill Dance as a person. I have also met him, and he is a good man, and a great fisherman.
Just IMHO, his show is a joke now, b/c all he fishes is private strip pits in FL where you and I can't fish. He catches 3-7 lb fish one after another (fish see no pressure), and he has turned the show into a Booyah infomercial.
If he fished public water and caught an occasional dink like the rest of us do, his show would have a lot more credibility.
That said, his bloopers are hilarious.
SC
I like The Bass Pros, In-Fisherman, Lindlers Angling Edge, and Worlds Greatest Fishing Show. While WGFS is not the most informative, at times, it is the most entertaining.
The worst, would have to be Roland Martin, especially the episodes that have his wife in them.
Personally I like The Bass Pros, Bass Edge, In-Fisherman, and Lindler's Angling Edge (my favorite). I seldom watch any of the others that have been mentioned:o(
QuoteThe worst, would have to be Roland Martin, especially the episodes that have his wife in them.
OH. MY. GOD. his wife is absolutely intolerable.
Angler on tour is my fav after that i will watch everything although that Charlie Moore guy can get annoying i will still watch him because he loves fishing.
I will watch most shows except Charlie Moore, Bill Dance, and of course...Roland.

Here is my take on Bill Dance. Have you ever tried to teach a kid to fish? The number one and two rules are, make it fun and catch fish. (no matter what species) I think that Bill fishing in those private stock tanks are a teaching tool. He shows his viewers how and why and then catches fish. If he didn't catch fish then, his lesson would not be complete. While a lot of his viewers are not kids, they do run a vast range of experience and knowledge. I think everyone who watches can get something from his show.
I too like the Linders. They take the education to another level.
Which show was/is it where the artificial lure (obviousy the one being promoted) is mentioned in every sentence (and sometimes twice)? Was/is it Shaw Grigsby? If so, that's the worst one. Can't say about the best. I don't have cable or satellite so I don't watch anything anymore.
There are NO good fishing shows anymore but the ones I can tolerate....
Hank Parker

Ok have you EVER caught a carp or at least hooked into a carp? I think you would have a lot more respect for them once you hook into them. These fish often get up to 20+ LBS and put up a huge fight. They do not jump like bass but nothing I have ever hooked into has taken more drag than a carp. I dont mean to sound like a jerk in this post its just I think carp are a very misunderstood fish that is very fun to catch.
My top five best are:
1. Flip Pallot's Fishing the Keys.
2. The Spanish Fly w/ Jose Wejebe
3. Addictive Fishing with Blair Wiggins.( Myonly gripe is he plugs W@M
too much.)
4. The Hunt for Big Fish with Larry Dahlberg
5. Angling Edge
My top five worst:
1. Roland Martin-infomercial for who ever the flavor of the month is.
2. Shaw Grigsby- The Quantum, Triton, Dick's Sporting Goods
infomercial.
3. Fishing Unviersity- Too Boring.
4. Beat Charlie Moore-Anoying.
5. Bill Dance-Fishes what looks like strip mine ponds too much.
Another honrable mention but is no loner on is Jerry McKinnis, this guy was cool
Best: Larry Dahlberg.
Worst: Roland Martin.
"Hook n Look" got rave reviews on the board last week. I have it TVO'd for 8:30 this morning, anxious to see this one.
Charlie Moore- No respect. Long story, most of you already know it,lol
I really like the Lindner's shows (any!) along with the In'Fisherman. Just wish they'd leave the religion message out of it. One thing I don't discuss with friends. Another good one which is new is called, "Hook N' Look" which is on only during the week on the "Versus" channel here. Great UW videos and support by DNR representatives. Very informative. I use to somewhat like Bill Dance, but way too commercialized these days. "Day on the Lake" is good, along with "The Bass Pros".
My faves are Bass Pros, (straight to the point) and the Elite series. I like In-Fisherman and Anglers Edge. I'll never dislike Bill Dance cuz he started me out fishing, but I don't watch him anymore. Don't like Roland Martin and Fishing University puts me to sleep. As does the College edition of Ultimate Match Sleeping...uh...Fishing. Now, I'm a true believer in Sufix line, so I can overlook Shaw going on and on about it, I've even heard he's a great guy. But I can't tolerate anymore of the giggles and "Oh my LORRRDDDD!!!" over a three pound bass. Same reason Dean Rojas went from being a fave to not caring much for. Him and his giggling and "Kermie this and Kermie that". Please.
In the defense of Shaw Grigsby He is a super nice guy and a religious man!
I met him once in greensboro NC and he talked to me like his best friend for a long time.He finally told me he had to go he was going to be late for his flight and as he was walking away another guy stopped him and he still took the time to answer the guys question that showed a lot of love for the fans.
He also told me he only promotes tackle he'd really buy himself. When he was starting out he had to buy his own tackle and after he made it big the same companies decided to sponser him. I know that sounds cheesey but I believe him he'd have no reason to lie!
Know yes I don't care for his show but I don't think it's in the same league as Billy dance and Roland Martin
QuoteMost hated#1 One more cast with Shaw Grisby (SUFFIX, SUFFIX, SUFFIX)
Yeah, and just last year it was STREN, STREN, STREN.
Anyway, I pretty much like all the shows. Hank Parker's show can be really informative, but it seemed like last season every other show was coverage of family picnics with a bunch of kids dunking bobbers from the bank.
Don't get me wrong--kids are great, and family time is second to none. I myself am a new dad, and it's an incredible thing that has completely changed my life. But do I REALLY want to fire up my Tivo'd fishing shows to find hours of some other dude's family time with his kids. Um....nope.
I love anything that the Lindner's are currently producing or have produced over the years. IMO, visually they are the best. I enjoy the fact that they educate people on a wide range of freshwater species, instead of narrowing down to only a selected few. Living up here in Wisconsin, we're blessed to be able to take advantage of the many species of fish the Lindners have been teaching over the years.
Oh yeahI hate that d**n Charrlie Moore show. You don't learn anything but to be an annoying loud mouth. :-/
Sorry for being ignorant: Who the is Charlie Moore. When i first came here i saw a lot of posts with LBH challanging him to some kind of fish off?
The show is called, "Beat Charlie Moore" on ESPN Outdoors. Basically, he's a loud mouth from Boston who takes on challengers who thinks they can beat him. Along the lines of the Scott Martin Challenge show, except this show is pointless.
There was this Beverly Hillbillies episode where they went fishing at the aquarium. Granny wanted to catch the whale kind of using Jethro as bait......in the end Ellie May ended up catching a seal and bringing it home
I dont have Satellite or cable and i dont get to see them but a couple times a year. So when i do get to see one i drool over it. When i stayed at a family members house a few weeks ago i saw a few. One of them was Fishing University with Charlie Ingram. It was the WORST show hands down ive ever seen.
First of all 29.999999 of the 30 minutes was spent promoting this spinnerbait, they were fishing it on lake Champlain. At the beginning he said this new spinnerbait is going to impress us. All they caught were little dinks. There was one decent smallmouth at the end. At the very beginning of the show where he was holding a smallmouth with the spinnerbait in its mouth while he was talking that. I thought it was a joke because the fish was SOOO small. They also caught several small muskie or northern and they were too scared to touch them. They called them "smelly toothy crittas" (say that in a deep southern accent). They just took the pliers to the hook while the fish was still in the water.
My alltime favorite was GO FISH with fish fishburn. right now it would be WGFS. I also really like Bass Center. Those are fun. After that I like anything with compitition. Although Boston Charlie tries this Texans Patience....
Dont really have any that I dont like.

I've heard that the lowly carp has been rated as number 1 in a few places. If you want to hang into a freight train, catch a carp. Just make sure you have your drag set correctly.
My favorite shows:
The Bass Pros
In-Fisherman
Bill Dance
Angling Edge
QuoteSorry for being ignorant: Who the is Charlie Moore. When i first came here i saw a lot of posts with LBH challanging him to some kind of fish off?
I remember that. I also remember LBH making reference recently about it being a long story. Please Dad, tell us the story.
I just watched The Scott Martin Challenge for the first time yesterday. Excellent show.
My favorites:
Lindners Angling Edge
In-Fisherman
WGFS
The Bass Pros
Ultimate Match Fishing
Day on the Lake
Bassmasters Elite Series
The Hunt for Big Fish
Some that I will watch if nothing else is on:
Bass Edge
Strike King Pro Team Journal
Skeeter Bass Champs
Jimmy Houston
Hank Parker
Babe Winkleman
Bass Pro Shops fishing
And the ones I can not stand:
Fish TV
Bill Dance
Roland Martin
Shaw Grigsby
People Who Fish
Beat Charlie Moore
best - in fisherman
worst - roland martin
i think Charlie Moore would get his arse handed to him by Scott Martin.. ;D that would be the ultimate challenge!
(Best) In Fisherman and Day on the Lake
(Worst) Roland Martin
I must start off by saying that i do not get the Outdoor channel, so i have never seen any shows there. So my choices are limited to espn,vs, and fsn. It's so cold right now that i will watch ANY fishing show.My favorites: Bass Pros, Angling Edge,In-Fisherman,WGFS,Hunt For Big Fish. 2 shows make me feel like i'm a pretty good fisherman: Fishing University (has Charlie EVER caught a bass over 14"?)and Bassin Edge(makes Ingram look like a pro). Worst? i would have to say Beat ON Charlie Moore- that's the only show that i can turn off.
TO ME CLASSIC PATTERNS WAS THE BEST.I HOPE THEY BRING IT BACK,BASS PROS #2.
The Bass Pros
Strike King Journal
Roland Martin
Angling Edge
Bass Edge
Are the ones I mostly watch among some other ones.
QuoteAnyway, I pretty much like all the shows. Hank Parker's show can be really informative, but it seemed like last season every other show was coverage of family picnics with a bunch of kids dunking bobbers from the bank.
I hear what you're saying, and maybe that's why a few others on this thread seemed to place him in the bad category, but of all the shows, it's perhaps the one that reminds us all of why we fish. No one seems to truly enjoy being on the water more than Hank, and for that, it's a fun show to watch.
I guess it just depends on what you're after and your mood that day. If I want to learn something, or check out new baits/techniques, I'll likely skip over it for something else. But if I just want to relax, Hank is hard to beat from an enjoyment angle.
Because when I watch a fishing show, i already know why I fish and the importance of passing it on, especially to kids. A lot of these shows are also passing on some kind of religous and or life style message, that if i wanted i can go to church and find :
I already posted on my favorite shows, but I have been watching alot of Larry Dahlberg's Show. I like this show for one reason, actually two, he fishes for exotic species. Even though you know he fishes with, and is sponsored by Shimano; he is not contantly talking about Shimano or suffix line or is other sponsors. He lets the action and the adeventure tell the story. Too many of these old guys like Bill Dance, Shaw Grigsby, and Roland Maarin are 30 minute infomercials for the sponors. I mean I fish with mainly Shimano reels, hwoever if Quantum or someelse gave me free top of the line stuff and loads of cash I would give their praises just the same. You never see Shaw or Bill fishing with that cheap made junk they sell at Dicks or BPS.

Why do they only put Lindner's angling Edge on at 4 in the morning? I think all fishign shows are good to watch because you will msot likely find that you learn something from each one. I like In-Fisherman because it's one of the shows that isn;t directly Bass oriented. I can;t think of a "bad" fishing shows.
Scott Martin challenge ,Day on the lake,Pro team jornal, the bass pros, worlds greatest fishing show. Worst shows bill dance, roland martin, bass champs, bass bites. my favorite alltime show was bass tech and it is no longer on
Best: The Office
Worst: Cop Rock
best:Bill Dance
worst: one more cast with Shaw Grigsby (he's so annoying)
One plug for Shaw Grigsby is that every now and then he does fish with some of the best baits I have ever seen. He is the first one to promote ao show the Rage Craw in action and that bait is a world class catchin machine.
Ultimate Match Fishing was good until Luke Clausen got on there. By them allowing him to get an publicity for the stunts he pulled simply made me not want to watch it anymore. I met him in person and he was just as cocky as he was on TV.
I love World Greatest Fishing show purely because I think Zona is hilarious. He is just as cool in person also. The boat I have, the guy I bought it from got it sold to him by Zona when he used to work as a salesman.

"Catch a big olllllllll' pig!!!!" :
Depends for entertainment value or learning....??
I love Zona (Baby cub...baby cub....) who wouldn't want to fish with that guy!!?? C'mon!!!
A Day on the Lake by Quantum is a great show. I think it shows how some of the best fishermen in the world check out a body of water, lay out a game plan, and sometimes, strike out, just like us regular folks.
Charlie Moore is starting to get on my nerves, and I heard is a jerk to his crew...15 minutes of fame?????

Agreed! the Zona-isms alone are (IMO) worth the 30 minutes spent watching the show...
"Can-Am Invitational" - fishing with VanDam on Lake Michigan (I think)
"Baby cub wanna go nightie nightie" - his crazy song about...uh...who the he** knows?
"Man bear pig" - he seems to say that a lot when he or his partner nails a big one
"Possum Kingdom Invitational" - fishing with Jeff Kriet on Choke Canyon
hilarious!

1. Bass Pro's (KVD and Rick Clunn are the best)
2. Day on the Lake (a true challange for the pro's)
3. Lunkerville (keeping it real!!!)
4. WGF (new show, so far so good)
5. Hook'n Look (I like to see how the bait works in the water)
My least favorites...
1. One more cast (they need to dub over his voice)
2. Beat Charlie Moore (drown, please!)
3. Jimmy Houston (The fist guy to get an STD from a fish)
4. Rolland Martin (stop inviting your wife!)
5. Kieth Warren (fishing with a glove is just gay!)
3. Jimmy Houston (The fist guy to get an STD from a fish)
...that made me choke on my coffee
Some guys are great in person but not-so-much on TV...Shaw being one of them. Met him at our winter expo in Raleigh and he talked to me like we were old fishing buddies. I don't care if Bill is fishing from a lunker-pit FL aquarium you can always learn something from his show.
My other fav's are Day on the Lake and In-Fisherman and Hank Parker when they are acutally bass fishing...cause BASS is all that matters!
P.S. If you are looking for some get-through-the-winter vidoes check out Bigmouth and Bigmouth forever...true classics.
Best: WGFS (gotta love Zona)
Worst: Bill Dance (AKA "I just caught a massive bass in a florida strip pit that you will never set eyes on, this looks like a good opportunity to shove my sponser BOOYAH down your throat.")

6-Worlds Greatest Fishing Show

4-Bass Edge
5-Jimmy Houston

Never saw a fishing show I didn't like. You can learn something from any of them.
In-Fisherman is #1 for me, with The Hunt for Big Fish a close second.
No worst list from me.
But I will say that if the choice came down to a fishing show featuring one of the current crop of professional bass fishermen, and the latest episode of As the Stomach Churns, I'd have to think about it for a bit.
I just got the Outdoor Channel so I'm still absorbing all I can. I think the one I most look forward to is In-Fisherman. And I can't help but laugh when I watch Fish TV..."Oh, hey buddy that's a big 'ol cow dere ain't it buddy"
Good choices.. I TEVO. most of the shows now since i am usuly on the lake when they air! I did happen to get a really interesting show on the history of Bassmasters Clasics. The first one i saw was with the 1984 clasic and i saw that thier are a few more to air over the next two weeks. Although not so much on tecniqe, its a nice summery of years past and how our sport has evolved over the last 20-30 years.
My favorite bass shows are when the florida fishings shows feature largemouth. Its funny how they use hot inshore lures for bass and not the best producing lures that you and I know are the most productive. I wouldn't typically throw a chartreuse skitterwalk to bass. I liked last years Chevy Florida Fishing Report with bass as the theme species.
A Day on the Lake is my favorite bass only fishing show.
I notice some people don't like Hank Parker's show. I love it myself. His show to me shows that he's one of "us", just a regular guy who likes fishing and happens to be good enough at it to make a living.
The only one I really don't like is "Beat Charlie Moore". That guy acts way too cocky and full of himself. I can't enjoy watching it for that reason alone. Otherwise I'll watch any fishing show on TV.
1. World's greatest fishing show.....you have to respect Zona for having the testicular fortitude to fish in Green Bay with a Bears shirt on.
2. Bass Pros
3. Bass Tech
4. Jimmy Houston's crappie fishing shows
Worst
1. Roland Martin
2. Bill Dance, you rarely see him actually make a cast, then catch a fish, always a convenient change in camera angle
With so much trash on TV now and here some of you are trashing Fishing Shows. Shame on you. Next time it's blowing gale force winds and raining sideways, plus your boat is in the shop, Go inside and watch OPRAH you whiner's. He He.....that'll teach' ya.
There are shows that are informative and then there are shows that are just trying to sell stuff. Some of them do both and I don't mind those as much.
I like Lindner's Angling Edge, Fishing with Joe Bucher, The Sportsman's Journal, Bill Dance, Jimmy Houston, Bass Pro, In-Fisherman, Midwest Outdoors, The Fishing Guide(Local show in Madison, WI), Hank Parker.
The rest I don't care for...too boring or little info given on how to fish or too many products being pushed.
QuoteQuoteDepends for entertainment value or learning....??I love Zona (Baby cub...baby cub....) who wouldn't want to fish with that guy!!?? C'mon!!!
Agreed! the Zona-isms alone are (IMO) worth the 30 minutes spent watching the show...
"Can-Am Invitational" - fishing with VanDam on Lake Michigan (I think)
"Baby cub wanna go nightie nightie" - his crazy song about...uh...who the he** knows?
"Man bear pig" - he seems to say that a lot when he or his partner nails a big one
"Possum Kingdom Invitational" - fishing with Jeff Kriet on Choke Canyon
hilarious!
"Manbearpig" is a reference to Al Gore in a South Park episode - he was being super cereal.
I may be alone here, but I'm not a huge fan of Zona. He's way to perky and loud.
For me, Ultimate Match Fishing is about as good as it gets in a fishing show. I usually DVR Lindner's show and can do the fastforward if he's on a walleye mission or something. I've certainly learned more from the Lindner boys than any other tv personalities. I like Zona and I like Hank. The show that desperately needs to be brought back is Schooled by Denny Brauer. They should put the entire run out on a dvd. It was an awesome show and was the backbone of the old ESPN Bass Saturday. I saved an episode of Hook n Look from last weekend but haven't had a chance to watch it yet.
My fav. is the worlds greatest fishing show.
Welcome KMC189
I like Ultimate Match Fishing & Bass Pros
Welcome aboard!

Been home a few days this week from work for time owed. I caught Fishing University again on Verses today, and I couldn't even get through it. Not only is the show if you can call it that a full fledged infomercial, but he even hawks the jeans he was wearing, and the segment on boats was nothing more then a plug for his boat sponsor.
This sad excuse for a show makes Beat Charlie Moore look good. And it's not by a long shot.
I agree, I kind of like the ultimate match fishing. The college one is not bad either.
Go Hokies!!!

Watching Zona right now. He has a guy out on some nice smallies and he just said somthing that makes a lot of sense.
He just watched his guest wrangle yet another beautiful bronzie to the boat and the guy is just blown away at hoe much they are catching, what they are cathing on, and the fact that he is like a kid in a candy store.
Zona said it well,...."Showing a quality fisherman, something as cool as today, ............is what it's all about, there's nothing better."
I'm sure good guides experience this often and I know I do to as I fish with new people in a place that is kind of rare to most RI anglers, all the time. I wonder of tourny anglers feel like they are missing out on this side of fishing.
Charlie Moore the Mad Fisherman. 8-) 8-) 8-)
Got a chance to catch Ike's City Limits Fishing last night. Not a bad show. He was fishing right here in Sacramento with Kent Brown.

I totaly agree, I made a post about that show a long time ago on this thread. I absolutely hate it.
i hate strike king pro team journal, its a half hour commercial for strike king, appears to be on a private lake, never have seen another boat on the lake, even i could catch a fish there (if i could get permission to fish), its like shooting fish in a barrell
I've liked in-fisherman since I was a kid, but it really took a down turn when the Lindners left. I LOVE Lindners Angling Edge. They are great guys and the Lindners are probably the best multi-species fisherman ever. The whole lot. If you are from up north, and you fish for more than just bass I can't see how these aren't the favorites. I spent years fishing for nothing but Muskie...

I've seen a few episodes of City Limits, and I really like it. Iconelli still shows the same passion as he does while tx fishing, but it just seems more personal as he mixes up the shouting with laughter, and plenty of insights as to how he's putting together a working pattern.
A couple of you had listed Scott Martin Challenge on your lists of good shows. I hadn't really checked that one yet so I DVR'd it this weekend. Just got done watching it and I'm totally impressed. Great call!
Hey...
Watched FLW this morning...
Not that Hulk Hogan (to my left) is not annoying enough on here, he was on the bottom of the screen during the show hocking Fantasy Fishing looking like a total idiot!!!
Hulk we love ya!! Don't lower yourself any more....call Vince McMann. I'm sure he can give you a job! :-/

One I have not made my mind up on yet is Ikes City Limits. I like the concept but just something about the guy (on the show) bothers me. With some time this show could be a winner.
There is one other that I can not remember what it is called but it's fun to watch. There are two good looking women that go on these outdoor adventures (hunting, fishing, ect.) and they get to experience most of this stuff for the first time. It's pretty funny.
Jeeez, you all HATE Charlie Moore, yikes.
I think his show is geared to be more entertaining than informative, take it for what it is.
He's funny, and knows how to catch fish. Though, I do hate how he's always got on an entire outfit of Boston sports teams....
I am watching most of the bass shows trying to learn.
I have HD-DVR so I record everything and buzz through the stuff I don't like.
I used to watch Hank Parker but not any longer.
Never like Roland Martin, same with Denny Brauer
Bill Dance is funny but plays with the fish to much and seems to fish the same lakes over and over.
I like the show with the guy with the earring and wierd haircut. That show is interesting. I don't care for Rick Clunn though, sorta dry.
I like the mop headed guy that kisses the fish but his laugh drives me nuts so I listen to the show on half volume.
I like In-Fisherman and North American Fisherman but I change the channel anytime is see smallmouth, lake trout or walleye fishing...boring to me.
I like the spearfishing show and the other show with the four guys and the girl who fish offshore and also spearfish. Of course, that show is entertainment only.
I find myself watching the rod and reel techniques and the baits they are using more than anything. This helps me understand how to fish some baits.
Interesting the differences of opinions on here!
The Good
1. Bassmasters Tournament Trail
2. Bass Pros (this is the best instructional show out there)
3. Day on the Lake (love the column in the magazine and love the show)
4. Bass Edge (The host is a tad annoying, but the show is pretty good)
5. Hank Parker (Gotta throw in some old school!)
Honorable Mentions:
One More Cast w/Shaw Grigsby, Strike King Show (can't remember the name...it's a little infomericial like) and World's Greatest Fishing Show (Mark Zona just kicks ***...I want to buy that man a beer someday)
The Bad
1. Beat Charlie Moore (Such a boring show...one episode he was bank fishing for 6 inch trout!!)
2. Fishing with Roland Martin (If you love Yamamoto so much, why don't you marry him?)
3. Bill Dance Outdoors (Used to be my favorite, but c'mon fish a real lake for a change...anybody can shoot fish in a barrel)
4. In-Fisherman (Sorry to the fans, but the multi-species thing just doesn't do it for me)
5. Fishing University (I'm waiting for them to hawk a flying lure or banjo minnow)
Stop watchin TV and start fishin!
I like In Fisherman, but I dont just fish for Bass..
The Hunt for Big fish...
Quest for the one...
The hook and look is a neat concept.
The worst... Bill Dance... does he sit cause he is always falling in?
Roland Martin... the man endorsed the Helicopter lure... Nuff said.
madfin shark tourney... the narator that thinks he is alfred freaking hitchcock.
CITY LIMITS is cool because I'm a huge fan of Ike
Now thats entertainment
And ZONA was made to be on TV
Can't wait for a KVD show---he is a great teacher
And who's that go fetch guy on bass tech?--the guy with so much personality---he should have his own show too
I'm not allowed to watch the mad fisherman!!!!my wife HATES him ;D
1.) scott martin challenge
2.) linders angling edge (i dont care what people say, he sets it up to teach people how to fish, not show off how many stock filled ponds they fish to nail LM time after time.
3.) A day on the Lake
4.) North American Fishermen
5.) City Limits
Least favs
1.) Roland Martin
2.) Bill Dance
3.) Jimmy HOuston
4.) Just one more cast
5.) FLW
Just a heads up. I've mentioned many times that I fish the NYC reservoir system, and under their rules it's rowboats only. The fishing is great, but it can be a real physical challenge. Anyone interested in seeing it 1st hand, just watch Roland Martin this week as he's doing a show on The Croton Reservoir with Marty, who is a fishing buddy of mine.

Oh yeah , his name is chigger--he's hilarious
Took another recommendation from your lists and watched Hook N Look. The episode I caught was incredible with some killer underwater footage of big bronzebacks feasting on crayfish (ok ok crawdads). If every show is as cool as this one consider me a regular viewer.
WORST:1. ROLAND MARTIN AND HIS WIFE PERIOD!!!
2. SHAW: 5 minutes of fishing 25 minutes of commecials
3. FLW: They even did a long segment on a co-angler. I
have alot of family in the south but I don't understand
the mumble that the one host speaks!!
4. BASS TECH: why is this on T.V. ?
5. Anything Clunn: I have never learned ANYTHING from the
"GREATEST ANGLER" EVER!! Sorry.
BEST: 1: Bill Dance: Been teaching me since I was born!! Teacher and
entertainer.
2: In Fisherman: Teach a great deal on every species.
Dull sometimes though!
3: Anything KVD: All you need is 5 minutes really!
That didn't sound right did it?
4: Anything Linder: Once again teaching me since I was able
to cast. Are you watching to learn or
be entertained?
5: B.A.S.S : Still better than FLW.
I still watch most shows. This is Ohio and we still have ice on the lakes so other than watching it melt there is not a whole lot to do late winter.
When your fishing season ends in mid-November(in good years) and doesn't start up again until sometime in April, any diversion dealing with fishing is welcome. That said, my tolerance for Shaw Grigsby has dimished greatly over the past two years. He acts like a complete idiot over fish most guys would consider average at best and can't make enough plugs for his sponsors. Roland also has gotten harder and harder to watch, especially when he has his wife on board, but I'm still able to pick up a pointer or two from him occasionally. I have always felt the Lindners have the most useful instruction and since Al discovered Smallmouth a few years back, they now devote a lot of time to Smallies, my personal favorite fish. If you don't care for the religious aspect of the Lindners' show, do what I do and just switch the channel after the last fishing segment is over. I just started watching the Bass Pros and I like it too, especially anytime KVD is on. I, along with probably a million other fishermen, would spend a fair hunk of money to fish with him for a day or two.
