Mine was:
Best - Don't over think it!
Worst - Don't worry about the hook! (given while being taught how to pitch, right before I buried the hook in my hand)
Best: hook sets are free
Worst: stick to the tried and true baits. If I would have listened, I probably would have given up fishing but instead I branched out.
Jeff
Best KEEP UM BAIT IN WATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best: when fishing shallow water "it's always a little deeper than you think."
The good-Slow down when jig fishing.
The bad-Le'ts leave these fish to find some bigger ones in another spot.
Buy a Boat
Best: Fish the most where others fish the least... Learn those areas in detail and you'll probably find fish that have never seen a hook. Keep your area quiet and you'll have it to yourself for years to come.
Worst: This isn't a good day to Fish
Big O
www.ragetail.com
Best : The more you fish the more big fish you'll catch
Worst: line doesn't matter i had this spooled up for three years
- Learn to fish at night -
This was Best And Worst piece of Fishing Advice I Ever received - thanks Dad.
:)

Best - Don't be content with the knowledge you have. Never stop learning.
Worst - (On day of tournament) Hey I fished here yesterday and caught 18 pounds.... Needless to say, we caught nothing out of that spot and sat on it all day long.
you wont catch fish if your line isnt in the water
Best: Throw what you are confident in.
Worst: "That guy" doesn't know what he is talking about...
Worst- Fish don't bite on a full moon.
Best- Don't give up fishing for a girl.
Best: If you think you can you will, if you think you can't your right!
Best: Invest some money in your baits and equipment.
Worst: Invest some money in your baits and equipment.
2nd best: When you feel the tap, cross its eyes.
Best-Pay attention to everything. Worst-Keep what u catch.
Best: Where there's little fish, there's big fish.
Worst: Where there's little fish, there's big fish.
You have to know the guy that gave it.
BIG-O says: "Worst: This isn't a good day to Fish"...reminds me of a certain day back in May of 2010 on a certain Pickwick Lake. Hahaha!
Best - 55 degree Water? Grab your spinnerbait, don't take your foot off the trolling motor, look for light spots. - Dad Also, 90% of the fish are in 10% of the water. AND - Turtles on the logs? fish shallow.
Worst - " If you keep hitting that Female with your white Lizard, she will leave the bed." ( Next time I bumped her, she inhaled that white Lizard) Also -- " These fish won't strike a topwater when the suns gets bright and the wind lays down" ( Filled my limit of spots on Lake Norman on a Sammy 65... then I gave the boater a Sammy 65) tehehe.
"Fish that Jitterbug at night with a slow steady retreive".
52 years later , it still gets BIG fish for me..
Thank you , Dad !!
Best piece of advice: Join a bass club
Worst piece of advice: from myself, The Flying Lure looks like it will work.
Worst: Granddaddy around 1959: "What's ya doin' with that rubber worm?
We got plenty of worms and minnows".
Best: Sports show in the winter of '98: "You need to give this a try, it's called a Senko".
Best: Quit changing baits so often, to catch a fish your hooks gotta be wet
Worst: Fish don't bite on bluebird days
Best- When you can't seem to figure them out stop and eat a sandwich.
Worst - After you feel the bite, reel your slack in slowly, count to three and set the hook...... That's Hogwash.
Worst: Rubber worms won't catch fish!!!! Keep spawning females, the roe is great with scrambled eggs!!!!
Best: Confidence is key to catching fish. Keep learning, but never forget the classic standards. (this one thing has helped me catch fish when I thought nothing would work, still keep white inline mepps spinners in the box)
Before my older brother passed away he always said keep going and sooner or later the fish will turn on. We fished from shore mainly and he was right. I seen him find a honey hole in saltwater for stripers and came home with two 60'' stripers from shore. He never told anyone but i knew where he was fishing.
One eveninmg while bass fishing with a crowd of fisherman all around me I was catching bass after bass when no one else caught nothing. I looked up and said to him to stop it these people are going to throw me in the water..... its true.
Don't under estimate a mepps inline with a front approaching. And if your having success with a #3 mepps and thye bite slows down up size to a number #4 or #5. The bigger fish will come in to see what the smaller fish are up to but won't hit the smaller sized baits.
My tackle boxes have the older go-to proven baits as well as the newer baits too.
Best- "Check out Bassresource.com. You'll learn everything you need to know about fishing from that site"
Worst- "You'll learn everything you need to learn about fishing from that site"
I learn a little about fishing everytime I go fishing. Sometimes you just have to figure out stuff for yourself to make it stick.
**On second thought, I probably read that on this site too.
Worst advice: "Don't worry. That storm is going to miss us."
Best advice: "Can't catch fish with your lure out of the water."
Best piece of advice: Don't listen to dock talk!
Worst piece of advice: Sure we can make it back there, just don't let out of it!

My brothers and I use to have a saying for when things got slow while fishing....
It related to slowing down the way we worked baits , and that often when we stopped working a bait, and just let it soak, to either have a sandwich or to take a leak...and it almost never failed that we would then get bit as it sat still.
We called it the Di-k in hand or sandwich in hand bite...
Har, har, har !!!
Best = From Dad...Son it's not just about the fishing out here on the water, it's time invested in yourself and the time you invest and give to others so that they may enjoy the same thing you do, learn as much as you can and give as much as you can.
Worst = From Dad...Just marry the girl...fishing will just be an added bonus.
Best: My best friend when I was ten years old "Go fishing with me, you'll love it!"
Worst: After a couple decades of fishing and lots cash spent....My best friend when I was ten years old "Go fishing with me, you'll love it!"
I thank him everyday for giving the gift of fishing. I don't know how my life would be without fishing and I don't want to find out.
Best (from my Grandpa) : "If you start keepin' track of who caught how many, you've changed the sport of fishing into just a game."
Worst: "You'll never catch anything on those stupid rubber worms."
Tom
best advice fish can be caught in any weather worst advice you cant catch fish in this weather
Worst advice I ever GAVE, to my wife, "Quit working that Senko so fast, you'll never get a bite!" Given less than 10 seconds before she hooked a 10-6 largemouth on that wacky rigged Senko she was buring across the surface.
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g200/pscarbor/JoysBass.jpg
Best: "Jimmy Houston"-- Every cast you make increases your odds of catching a fish.
Worst: I wouldn't go fishing, it's suppose to rain.
The last is more of an opinion of some people but if I had to wait for the "perfect" day to go fishing I wouldn't get to go very often.
Here is my advice. Go fishing every chance you get!

That's Classic - you'll be hearing about that one for a while.

Best: Try a baitcaster/braided line/black trick worm and you'll never go back.
Worst: It's too windy to fish (with only a 10 mph wind blowing).

In my experience when you're told to stop hitting a female with your white lizard, its best to listen. Otherwise, you'll be the one leaving the bed.
Best: Match the hatch
Worst: if the weather sucks, dont go fishing...
Best- know what it feels like when you don't have a fish on the line, anything different, set the hook.

ROFLMAO
Thank you so much, I just laughed water out of my nose and all over my phone.

Nice, and so very true!!!
Best: Finish your retrieve all the way to the boat/shore.
My personal best was caught about a foot from shore.
Worst: Pending

Thought of this post after I saw that the turtles were sunbathing today.
Caught a She-hog in about 8 inches of water in a spot I wouldn't normally cast to. Thanks.

Hahaha. You gotta just eeeeease it in there.
Best: Have faith in big baits
Worst: Too many to mention..
Best- Be patient
Worst- Don't cast there you'll lose your lure.
Worse: "What the hell are you gonna catch with that big *** lure [1/2oz spinnerbait]?!"
(note: I'm from Minnesota, go figure. Once in Wisconsin, I freaked out a fisherman as I walked past him with a 6" senko, it wasn't even my 7" senko. It's like he's never seen anything bigger than 3 inches. )
Best: [a concensus among the bass angling culture] "Spinnerbaits will catch bass, in 30 degree or 90 degree weather, spring, summer or fall, clear water or muddy water, in California, Texas or Minnesota."
Edit: Didn't mean to leave out the eastern guys. I just don't have much exposure to the east so I don't know what is the mecca of East coast bass fishing.
The best has always been "lets go fishin!" The worst is when the pros say "let the fish tell you what they want". Some days the fish are very quite in my parts.
Paul
Best. Its not raining/blowing under the water. Worst. Buy this reel. Its got more bearings than that Shimano in your hand.
