What’s your favorite finesse lure/rig? (Besides the Ned rig.)
Gambler BB cricket for punching after cold fronts.
I've been messing with the Neko rig lately. I haven't yet decided if I like it more than wacky.
Right now!
Texas rigged 1/8 oz bullet & 4/0 EWG
Zoom's Ultravibe Speed Craw
South Africa Special ????
3” Keitech Easy Shiner on an 1/8 darter jighead.
The 2 in Cabin Creek Spider Parts. The thick tentacle is to rig your jig head weedless.
Right now - 4.5” Roboworm FAT Straight Tail in SXE Shad on a drop shot
Bed Bait - 2.5” Original FAT Gitzit Tube In Brown Craw/S&P please
Zoom Z3 swamp crawler finesse worm on a War Eagle 3/8oz jig head. Oxblood red works very well around here.
Or a Trick Worm on the same jig head.
Zoom U-Tale in gourd green and watermelon/red. Old school and work ‘every time’.
A hair jig. Sometimes I'll even suspend them under a float and if it's a really tough bite, I'll add a minnow.
Weightless fluke. Fished agonizingly slow.
Drop shot and Split shot rigged Roboworm 4.5's, various colors. Long time favorite finesse set up. Have fished the "fat" version more as of lately (last few years). But still use many original version.
Not quite sure what finesse is. Is it a bait or technique? Trying shakey head with Zoom finess worms and swamp crawlers. New to me. Had pretty good luck with Luck E Strike hook tail worms in 4 to 5 inch on down sized t rig, or swamp crawlers.
Roboworm fat

I been thinking about ordering some of these instead of hula grubs for spotted bass but still not sold on em?
Zoom u tail gp/chart or june bug

When you say you fish it slow are you hopping/dragging and pausing it along the bottom slow. Or are you swimming it through the middle/top of the water column slowly?

Finesse is a technique, it’s presenting bass with small, light baits, like weightless plastics, shakey head, small jigs, beetle spins..
Zoom u tale worm in old purple or junebug or a zoom centipede in watermelon seed.
Various smaller plastics.
Typically on one of the following:
Charlie Brewer Spider Head
Owner Ultrahead Finesse
3/16 Jigs
1/16 mojo-trig
6 inch worm , 1/8th ounce weight .
Strike King Tour Grade Finesse jig with a rage chunk, 1/16oz t-rig baby brush hog watermelon candy has been FIRE lately, and of course a ned rig!
3/32 oz nail weight 6" worm
Slip shot rig; 1/8 oz pro-jo tubular weight, 8mm glass bead, Carolina keeper with Owner 5133 hook and 4 1/2 to 6" curl tail worm.
Drop shot; 1/4 oz with Gamakstsu or Owner Mosqito size 1 hook, nose or wackily hooked straight tail 5" to 6" worms
Fly lined Basstrix Bait fry Shad.
1/8 oz Flick Shacky style jig wacky rigged worm.
I use all of the above with 5 lb-7 lb line spinning tackle.
Tom
3" Yum Dinger rigged wacky style with a size 1 finesse wide gap hook and O rings.
Catches everything, Sunfish, Pickerel, Rock Bass, Perch, SMB and LMB. Easiest way to a double digit catch day.
Finesse jig and Rage baby menace or baby Rage craw

I'm not quite sure what it is either but I've been river fishing for smallies that way long before it was called finesse. I agree with Tyler's thoughts on it.
4" Power Worm + Owner Bullet Ultrahead.

Exactly what I did. I don't buy the Hula Grubs anymore. I like being able to switch up the skirts. The GP grub body with the Tennessee Orange skirt has been a killer combo for me on the 1/8 oz Gammy ball head jig.
Roboworm 4 1/2 inch. Colors mm11 or folk special. Texas rig with 1/8 oz brass bullet sinker and 8mm glass bead or split shot rigged. Gamma straight shank 1/0 hook. Sometimes rig with 1/8 oz slider head
Roboworm 4 1/2 inch. Colors mm11 or folk special. Texas rig with 1/8 oz brass bullet sinker and 8mm glass bead or split shot rigged. Gamma straight shank 1/0 hook. Sometimes rig with 1/8 oz slider head

Finesse to me doesnt always mean light weights and small baits. More of a mind set. I finesse 12" worms with 3/4 ounce weights through brush piles all the time. But I've also power fished small trick worms by twitching them like a jerkbait. But I'll stick to What's politically correct and say dropshotting a small lizzard
Always thought finesse was just slowing it down

Intricate or refined delicacy.

You may be right also. It sounds it. More of a presentation style.
Z Man Tubez and Strike King Dreamshots have been killer for me the last 2 seasons both for size and numbers. They work great on a dropshot rig. Z Man Tubez look like a small bait fish or minnow when fished this way.
Charlie Brewer Spider head with Zoom finesse worm on spinning gear

I agree, you can finesse bigger baits but I meant a finesse presentation on a smaller scale. I guess I meant small profile baits.
Zoom Ring Worm in green pumpkin is killing it for me right now!
I've actually been having trouble this year finding a finesse bite. Weird, but true. A Texas rigged pumpkinseed power worm has been outfishing almost everything. I did however do some work this morning with a flick shake jig and pink trick worm rigged wacky.
2.8 Keitech (Regular, not fat) and a light jig head. Like a swimming Ned rig.
Tubes tubes and more tubes here.
neko rig zoom trick worm
Deadsticking a 3" BPS Stiko on a split shot rig. I count to 10 and move it a little. Usually the bass will pick it up and take off with it.
my best big fish finesse bait is a trick worm on a shakyhead.
my best numbers finesse bait is a ned rig.
there is usually one of each, at the ready, on my deck.

I wish I had your patience. Seriously. I’m working on it
Beside the Ned, my favorite would be the Yamamoto Shad Shape worm.

The bait moves slow but the bass pounce on it. If I don't get a bite by the 3rd count I bring the bait back in and cast it somewhere else.
Strike King Caffiene Shad on a 4/0 VMC EWG hook.
The tail wiggles like a Senko when you let it fall. Drives the fish nuts.
Small waters...Shaky head with a trick worm
Big waters...UV Speed Craw
Mike
You said no Ned, but this may be news to some: Rig a drop shot with one color Ned on the hook on the line and another color on the bottom instead of a sinker. May not be legal everywhere.
spro or home tied hair jigs/bucktails.
River2Sea Lane Changer 150 topwater lure is what I think is finesse, had a good week fishing that, wasn't a big fan of that lure until this week. No wind, clear water sightfishing most of the week and other "noisier" topwater lures were spooking fish. I've never seen water in this particular river this clear and I been fishing this river for 40 years.
Tiny ice fishing spoons for bluegill, gsf, rock bass is a favorite of mine, I often get a couple bass with them too.
jigging rap for open water walleye(lure was designed for ice fishing)

That would apply to any dead stick presentation and most big swimbaits.
Some folks quote the dictionary definition for finesse, others refer to light line presentations, others just like to argue. When you come up with something everyone agrees post it!

My favorite is what ever is getting bit. Today it was a Ned rigged TRD, tomorrow it might be a 4" yum dinger on a drop shot, a week from the 4th of July it might be a 6" worm on a shaky head, two weeks after the last full moon in October with the smell of burning tires in the air it might be white post it note on 5/0 treble hook................point is, I don't know until I know. I let my gut, what my eyes and brain are seeing for the days conditions, and past exp. guide me a little on what I do. I have lots of stuff I lean on when it's tuff, some days I find THE thing they will bite, some days are a swing and a miss.
Small paddletails are always in style.....
While new for 2018 are chubby little tubes....
I have never found a weedless rigging method for the 4" Easy Shiners, ideally I want a small, thin-wire twistlock hook but with only like a 1/16oz belly weight. I also want it to ride really tight up to the body. Those draggin head's I use for the tubes are almost perfect, but I wish the weight was further back. They are still the best I have found though.
EDIT: That was not a Chubby Little Tube, the correct pic is now up. The are great rigged on the draggin heads, they are heavy enough for a decent current but still do a slow gliding fall. The hookset raito is outstanding as well.
