fishing user avatarHookSetDon reply :

Ive been throwing smitwick rogues for a while now, liking them and the price, i think im gonna spring for some lucky crafts this year, what do you like/ any suggestions?

fishing user avatarSDoolittle reply :

Damiki Slim Jack

fishing user avatarRiver Rat316 reply :

Pointer 78 in ayu or something like that. Next for warmer water is an xrap in perch

fishing user avatarlk ozark reply :

I'm going to try LC's. Any one have any luck with them.

fishing user avatarSoFlaBassAddict reply :

X-Rap

Xcalibur XT3

Both have always produced fish for me.

fishing user avatarLocked reply :

I've had success with the X-Rap.  I plan on getting some LC Pointers as well.

fishing user avatarHooligan reply :

Pointers, Vision110, and Xrap.

Depends on the conditions.

Oh and Wild Shiner fishing for bass on pike lakes.  I hate it when pike take my good baits away from me.

fishing user avatarroadwarrior reply :

You must not have any rocks where you fish...I've broken the lips off 4 of the XT3's just bouncing off rocks.  I've never broken a LC or an X Rap, both of which I like a lot in a variety of sizes.

Another inexpensive one that works very well on river Smallies is the Bomber suspending long A in the 2 hook size.

fishing user avatarFishes in trees reply :

I like Lucky Craft jerk baits.  My favorite/best producing color has been Table Rock Shad.

fishing user avatarwisconsin heat reply :

my best jerkbait is a LC pointer 78 real skin idk if the genuine fish skin on the lure makes a difference, but it was on sale so i said okay, and I'll use that when i cant get a bite in 30 min and i want to fish fast, (otherwise its a finnese worm)... never tried an xrap, the husky jerks arent too bad, but arent too good either(mine floats a tad)

fishing user avatarTrippyJai reply :

I've had success with the X-Rap in warmer weather. I use the Pointer in the fall and haven't caught many bass, but I doubt it's the bait. I struggle during the colder months to catch fish.

fishing user avatarHookSetDon reply :

lots of feedback, no one likes smitwick lol, casting distance wise, xraps cast a mile dont they? with the ball bearings in them

fishing user avatarRiver Rat316 reply :

smithwicks are to light for me, and I don't think I have ever caught a fish on one, I actually just took my remaining ones out of my  jerkbait box and gave them to my son, I had to make room for more pointers and x raps.... gotta love Cabelas sales!

I haven't fished any McSticks yet. I bought a few because they're supposed to have a really tight action with the nose tipped just enough down.

fishing user avatarJ_Pearson reply :

I'm sounding like a broken record, but I've also really like X-raps and Pointers. They make up nearly my entire jerkbait collection. I did however bust my first keeper last year on a big smithwick rogue. So I'll definitely be throwing that some next week as well. I've read and heard great things about the Megabass Vision series, but they do cost a good bit more than the others.

As for now, I'll stick with x-raps and pointers  :D

Just hit that up, too! Picked up a couple of X Raps and a few Husky Jerks! They were having a crazy cheap Yo-Zuri sale, too! $2.99 for most, though the couple I ordered are now backordered.

fishing user avatarbasser89 reply :

I do like the Rogues, even though they are a little on the light side. X-raps are great in warm weather for me. Started playin around with Daiwas DB minnow some last year too and had some success with them. I also throw Bombers Long A's once in a while too.

fishing user avatarcentral.PA.bass reply :

Lucky Craft Pointer, Live Target, and Rapala!

fishing user avatarKYntucky Warmouth reply :

Owner Cultiva Rip'n Minnow 65SP

Lucky Craft Pointer 65 and 78

I like to keep em small

fishing user avatarPrimus reply :

A lot of good ones mentioned, my most productive the last couple of years has been the Ima Flit. The Megabass Trick Darter will put 'em in the boat when the going gets tough.

fishing user avatarThe Bassinator reply :

I want to have the LC pointer 78 and 100 SP and DD, Rogues SP and Floating, X-raps and Orig. Floaters, Damiki Slim Jack(Maybe the longbill and striker), Spro McStick and McRip and maybe a few others but I think I've got a good list goin now  ;D

fishing user avatarww2farmer reply :

X-raps, and husky jerks.

Without a doubt, the Lucky Craft Suspending Pointers are an outstanding bait. Yes,at 14.99 a pop they are a bit pricey, but they are an excellent bait. Rapala X-Raps are good also, but that ball gets stuck in the tail end of the bait sometimes, when that happens,it stands straight up. I tend to stay away from them because of that. Lucky's in Aurora Black,Ghost Minnow,& Chartruese Shad are the staple colors here.

They're supposed to have addressed that issue, I haven't had one do it for a long while.

fishing user avatarGetfished reply :

Megabass Vision 110, Lucky craft Pointer, Spro McStick. All good.

fishing user avatarHandy reply :

When I first started jerkbaitn I got x-raps and caught allot of fish. A few years later I graduated to luckycrafts and have yet to catch one fish on them, think I will go back to the x-raps.

fishing user avatarhookingem reply :

Specialty Tackle jerbaits FTW!

fishing user avatarGetfished reply :

If you have a bait that the ball bearings get stuck in the tail.

Take a paperclip, straighten it out. Sharpen one end a little bit. Heat it red hot and push it into the lure body from the top of the back, centered, through the bait just a wee bit further forward than the rear point where the balls get stuck. Snip off any extra with a gate cutter. Put a drop of sealer or cement over the insertion point. That should keep the balls from rolling quite so far back.

Hope that is helpful.

fishing user avatarcrappiekid24 reply :

I dont fish jerkbaits all that much but the few that I do use are X-Raps and Husky Jerks. Haven't really tried anything else.

fishing user avatar0119 reply :

Yo-Zuri Edge Trembler.  Slow sinks with a unique senko mimicing wobble. Not well known so the fish havent seen it. Comes in exceptional colors too.

fishing user avatarHookSetDon reply :

honey get the pocket book , we about to go shoppin for some jerkbaits lolol thanks everyone

Name your jerk-bait

What I call my jerk-bait is none of your business!

But Rapala Husky jerks are my favorite that I've used.

fishing user avatarjw24 reply :

The pike and smallmouth around here hammer the bomber long a.

fishing user avatarmrbassky68 reply :

I usually go with a Vision 110 if money is on the line. I use the small xcalibur twitch bait if I just want to get a bunch of bites and I use other jerkbaits some as well.

But if you doubt the Vision 110 look at the FLW beaver lake results almost everyone in the top 50 was using one.

fishing user avatarSausageFingers23 reply :

Husky Jerk.  It just seems to catch fish for me.

fishing user avatarAndy C reply :

LC pointer in 78 and 110 is hard to beat. I am sure the megabass is awesome, but I am not going to buy one unless I hit the lottery.

Swithwick rogues-Awesome baits anywhere I have ever been. I fish floaters and suspending baits.

I still throw some original rapalas that I have modified.

fishing user avatarScorcher214 reply :

Side note: Anybody ever see yellow perch instores? It is my favorite color and it's not on BPS or TW or in most stores. They produce like mad.

I've purchased them locally at Gander Mt. as well as some small shops in the area. I'd check out the closest G.M. though..

I have a ton of perch lures but they seem to produce more Pike than anything else for me.

Pointers also produce toothy monsters but way more bass for me.

*OFF TOPIC*

Anyone looking for a perch lure must own the small Tail Dancer (regular depth). Its a fish catching machine for bass, walleye and pike.

Cabela's had them on sale online as of a few days ago.

fishing user avatarScorcher214 reply :

Ya, just went to dicks and picked up two. And they do seem to attract a lot of pike. But i do catch my fair share of bass on it.

Talked to a rep about it today, again, to double check.  He said there might be a few left out there, but they changed a piece internally to prevent it on all the new ones.  He said it was around a year and a half that they changed it.

fishing user avatarrumbal reply :

LC Pointer 78 and JACKALL Squad Minnow 95.

fishing user avatarHookSetDon reply :
