I want to get into the frog fishing alot more this year, any input? Just would like to see what is the HOT frog.
Once again why make a poll that doesn't list every available product, why not just ask which frog each of us prefers to use?
I like Stanley Ribbits
The other thing I would like to add is that there are basically 2 kinds of "frogs" listed here. You Have the hollow soft body ones and the ones which are referred to as "buzzing" frogs. Each one serves its own purpose and the bass may prefer one over another on a given day.
The buzzing frogs are used like a buzzbait and also gererally sink and can be dropped into holes or twitched in a subsurface manner along weedlines or over submerged weeds. The hollow body frogs can be walked or twitched and pulled along in some really thick slop.
So basically you would have to have the poll split into two categories since they are 2 totally different lures.
My all around favorite buzz frog is the ribits and rage tails.Favorite hollow frog is the bobbys perfect frog.
i voted for the spro bronzeeye but i actually really like the new spro king daddy frog
OK, I told you I was new to this frog stuff! Sorry I will try better next time. :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :( > > > > > > >

I've been looking but I haven't been able to find that thing yet. And being that they just came out where have you been catching fish on them in January because I need to move there.
They have been out for some time. Bass Pro has them Gander,Sportsman Warehouse just to name a few.
Darn you're lucky. The Bass Pro out here doesn't have them yet and neither does their webiste. In fact the last time I checked, the Spro website doesn't even have them yet.
I didn't see them up there but I like the ones by Uncle Josh and the Gambler Cane Toads.

x2 i love ribbits, they are the only frog/toads that i have found to work on my pond
p.s. i do not like spro bronzeeye frogs, we have tried them and they never caught one fish and werent to weedless
http://www.floridakayakfishing.com/bassfrog.htm
I never tried it, but you might want to check it out. It's not out yet, but one day the guy will have an online shop for it. It's a pretty interesting frog lure. He just says its soft, but tough enough to withstand creatures with teeth like pike. The hook is put in front of the frog's lips like a Banjo Minnow, probably because the body is harder than most hollow frogs.

I catch alot on spro bronze eyes i just got the new scum frog big foot hopefully it works well ill let you know in march or maybe even april :'(
The Good old ScumFrog!!! Not the bigfoot, but the original and the Trophy ScumFrogs!!!
Feelin Froggy, spring is just around the corner. Gonna ck out the new frogs this year cause I've seen some new ones at BPS ans CABBY'S. Rage Tail video makes me shake and get short of breath.
I like the Rage Tail Toad. It has terrific splash and action. If it lands on its back in water, it also rights itself as soon as you start your retrieve. Slow retrieve has a plop-plop-plop sound and quicker really makes some racket. I'll find alot water to chunk these in this year.

Hey your only here to learn as am I. I was just trying to explain the difference in the kinds of "frogs"
What you should do is take one of each type using the preferences here, hollow body and buzzing, and get one of each.
In other words:A lot of people like the ribbit frog which is a buzzbait type toad and a lot of people like the Spro bronzeye which is soft hollow type. Two totally different lures and actions.
BTW I live in Florida and anytime is frog time LOL
Wow I'm three for three on polls this week.
I haven't been able to vote in any of them.
This poll compares "apples and oranges"
a horny toad is a COMPLETELY different class of bait than a spro bronzeye frog
hollow body frogs float
classic toad baits like the horny toad will sink.
They are different baits fished in different ways.
That being said.
Avid likes zoom horny toads, and spro bronzeye frogs.
Meh choosing something on that list I would go with a Zoom Horny toad.
I have two Bronzeye Frogs, and I don't have any problems with either.
As far as the solid frogs, I like the Zoom Horny Toads best. I'm looking forward to trying the Rage Toads this season.
Falcon
I like the Snag Proof "Bobby's perfect frog" and Zoom's Horny Toad
You left the two best frogs off the list!
#1 Gamber Cane Toad
#2 Sizmic Toad
#3 Horny Toad
Best of everything else is the Scum Frog.
Buzz type frog- Stanley Ribbit and Bull Ribbit
Hollow body frog- I like the original Scum Frog best. I change the hooks, and add silicone skirt material.
scum frog big foot...
i weight it with some twiston line sinkers on the hook to give it a little extra casting distance...
great combo of hollow body and buzz frog.
for the hollow frog i pick spro and spro olny
for a buzzin frog i pick gambler cane toads ,, ribit frogs ,,, and zoom horney toads ... in that order ...
During a Championship tourn last Fall I got smoked by a friend in the back of the boat when he was using the Rage Tail Toad. I used Horny Toads, Ribbits and Bronze eyes but couldn't find the ticket. Finally got wise and started chunkin them too. Have to say they are a versatile frog design.
Bobby's Perfect Frog.
Never really cared for the toads.
spro bronzeye frog - do not waste your money on any other brand. any color will do. the hardest part about fishing thick cover is seeing your bait so stick with a white or yellow. i like the standard size and i do not trim the tail
7'6" heavy rod - may consider 7'10". longer rods allow you to cast farther and you can get a better hookset. bass pro nitro rods are perfect for froggin'
30 to 50 lb. braid - i use suffix. i prefer 50 lb. but 30 lb. will let you cast slightly farther
i suggest using a baitcasting combo
if you have the means to buy any reel, get a abu garcia revo. stx is the best.
i guess you guys aren't up on the CANYON PLASTICS 4.5'' frog , you guys are surely missing out !!!! : i've used almost all of those frogs listed but they just don't compare to the canyon plastics !!!!
Frogs are green.

8-)
The Good old ScumFrog!!! Not the bigfoot, but the original and the Trophy ScumFrogs
X2
can't beat the price or the performance. to me they work just as well as the $8-$10 ones
QuoteOnce again why make a poll that doesn't list every available product, why not just ask which frog each of us prefers to use?I like Stanley Ribbits
Exactly.
I'll take a solid toad over a hollow frog anyday, including the venerable bronze eye.
My favorite toad is the Sizmic Pop'n Toad Floater, which can be chugged, walked, swum or buzzed.
Hot on its heels is the Stanley Ribbit Floater (in both cases, be sure to specify "floater").
Roger
I have been using the Boze Sumo frog for a few years now & don't have a reason to change. They work well for me.
QuoteOnce again why make a poll that doesn't list every available product, why not just ask which frog each of us prefers to use?
I think it would be quit impossible to list EVERY frog, so it looks like he tried his best so cut some slack...its not like he gave 2 choices... if u dont like the choices dont answer the poll :
Rage Tail by far for the buzz frogs. But i don't see the River 2 Sea croaker on the list so i'm out...............................................

Isn't that the same point that Catt was making?
Most members aren't even aware of the vast variety of available frogs, which doubles when you include toads.
As Catt suggested, why not ask the members, which frog or toad we each prefer.
That way, everyone gets to respond to the thread, and the poster discovers just how many effective brands there really are.
Roger
For me its the Strike King Rage Toad.
River2Sea
For a Toad I like the Strike King Rage toad and shad.
For the Hollow body I like the Spro frog with some minor modifications.
+1 for river2sea, i have used alot of different hollow body frogs and found these to be really great. they don't fill up with water and they have a great action on them. also easy to make walk.
I've done pretty well with the poppin Spro but nothing beats the old fashion scum frog. I fished the popper scum frog probably 90% of the time I was on the water this year and had my best year ever. My fishing partner fished a ton with Spros and I bet I got double the hits. I also picked up a Tru Tungsten frog which looks really nice but the plastic body is hard as a rock so I never really used it.
Zoommmmm Toads love them
Rage Tail ;D They have always been very good to me.
From the ones that I have fished I would say the Spro Bronze eye in terms of fish caught and strikes triggered. The bronze eye popper walks the dog better and doesn't take on water as bad.

Exactly. I cannot answer this poll, they are 2 different baits entirely. This is like asking what is your favorite spinner, and then listing between rooster tails and terminators.
R2S... by far the best frogs ive used.. spro is a close second however
Snag Proof Bobby's Perfect frog. Greatest frog out. Soft enough body for a great hook up ratio, hard enough to cast into anything and not get hung up, and great colors and hardware. Although I don't have a fish over 10 on one yet, I've had a single frog last through several 6-7lbers without any issues.

I can say the same for the spro!
With that said I refuse to vote because buzz frogs like the Rage Toad should not be considered "frogs" to me.
i like sizmic toads jr green pumkin
Nice fish Simp, I'm sure those made your day. I prefer the Snag Proof Bobby's Perfect Frog, Spro Bronze Popper for hollow frogs. I like the Stanley Ribbit & Zom Horney Toad for Buzzin' Frogs. Next year I will have to try the Gambler Cane Toad & River To Sea frogs since many on here reccomended them.
i love the frog that my friend has it its japanese soft frog/chugger combo works good
i love the River2Sea i tried a spro to see what all the hubbub was about nice frog but the body tore to easy dam near tore in half after a couple fish the r2s has way out lasted plus the r2s works awesome as a Popper aswell with the keel design throws lotsa water
