What's Your Most Recent? 2024

fishing user avatarJT Bagwell reply :

Every so often I come across a bait that is just awesome. In the spring it was when I got the Siebert Outdoors

Bloody Shad swim jig.

So what is your most recent bait that made you say Holy Cow this thing is crazy good like a fish magnet?

My most recent is definitely the Lucky Craft S.K.T. MR in MS American Shad. That thing is amazing I for sure

will be getting more of them.

fishing user avatarSnakehead Whisperer reply :

Not a hard bait, but this year I have been tearing it up on the KVD Dream Shots. Really great quality lure.

I make a most of my own crankbaits and topwaters, some of them have been pretty awesome. The most recent has been a walking bait design; I really love fishing these in the fall.

fishing user avatarwhitwolf reply :

I bought this topwater bait 2 years ago but didn't fish it much. This Fall I decided to give it a go and have been pleasantly surprised. It's a Marty Burns prop bait and it's out of this world!

fishing user avatarQUAKEnSHAKE reply :

Kinami Palm trees/ Fat Ikas most used lure by far now. Can use it many different areas and it catches fish form top to bottom. Plus it casts great too thing soars.

fishing user avatarMacP reply :

Storm Gobys/Sculpins are amazing in the rivers.  I've already caught loads of fish on Zooms Z-drop worms (they stole them from Jackall, Crosstail shad?)

fishing user avatarCatt reply :

Rage Tail 8" ReCon Worm SK #135 Falcon Lake Color.

Rage Tail Lobster SK #135 Falcon Lake Color

I thought the Lobster was awesome as a jig trailer & it is but I resently started throwing it weightless Texas rigged...it's death in a bag!

fishing user avatarMcKinneyLonghorn reply :

I had never really used soft plastics until about two months ago. The first ones I tried were 4-inch Senkos in watermelon with red and black flake. After a two fish performance my first time out, I hauled in 17 over my next two trips to the small community pond I fish. That was enough to make me say "holy cow, these things really work." Since then the fishing has slowed down and I haven't approached those catch numbers, but my initial impression was enough to make me a believer.

fishing user avatarWar Eagle 44 reply :

Mine is the R2S Whopper Plopper 130. I've been throwing this bait a ton lately, haven't gotten all that many bites but every one I do get is a nice one. They hit this thing with such force as well, it makes for amazing top water fishing.

fishing user avatarBankbeater reply :

I take a 6" senko cut it in half, and then trim up the end a little to lose the taper.  I don't catch a lot of hawgs on it, but the bass about a pound or so can't leave it alone.

fishing user avatarwebertime reply :

Jackall Boil Trigger. Think of a love child made by a jointed rapala and pop-r. Casts well and really pops and gurgles awesome. Sounds just like the blurp slurp big smallies make when the take a Topwater.

fishing user avatarGoneFishi'n reply :

Mine is a MorganCustomLures 10" Gizzard Shad. 3oz shy of 7lbs.

fishing user avatarShane J reply :

I have to go with Rage Tail Lobster, as well. It's pure bulk and action, and it works for many ways I like to fish, all while getting the attention of the biggest bass in the lake. Falcon is probably my favorite all around color, but Gr Pumpkin/Purple Gold is awful tough to beat, too.

fishing user avatarSPEEDBEAD. reply :

Deps 250 Slide Swimmer

It is absolutley seductive looking in the water.

fishing user avatarPrimus reply :

This year in terms of baits that I hadn't previously fished I would pick the River to Sea S Waver as the top newcomer for my rotation. I look forward to expanding my selection of S style swimbaits but of the ones I have tried this has by far been my most productive.

fishing user avatar.ghoti. reply :

Rage Tail Space Monkey, on a 5/16oz Evo Shake2 jighead. It bass crack.

fishing user avatarJT Bagwell reply :

I need to get on board with the swim bait guys but so far I just haven't.

My buddy Mike Bucca makes some and I am thinking about getting a couple

of them to try out. I can't remember the name though.

Our fishing season is quickly coming to an end here in Northern Illinois so it

might be something I pick up to get my fix in the off season.

fishing user avatarolegs reply :

Rage Tail Craw on 3/16 oz. T rig. Last weekend I had success with it when Senko and worms almost did not work.

fishing user avatarFishes in trees reply :

The go to bait for me this summer was a home made jika rig (roughly 1/2 oz) and a creature bait.

Yup - The Lobster has been a real game changer for me too.

Of course the Scrounger / Fluke combo is a coming on very strong as well.

The bait you are referring to is the Bull Shad. I really want one! He doesn't live far from me at all.

They sure look awesome don't they.

fishing user avatarPrimus reply :

I like the 5" & 6"  fast sink version ( I don't believe it's listed on his website ) and I have Dwain from Baitwerks paint it in a Golden Shiner pattern, it's been a very productive bait for me. I usually have Dwain order it from Mike and then he paints it. Patience is needed as it usually take a couple of months to get it.

fishing user avatarGrizzn N Bassin reply :

as alwasy they senkos waky rigged.

this year double bladed buzzbaits . most productive color was black blades and black skirt. with a red head

fishing user avatarSPEEDBEAD. reply :

Trick worms. I absolutely hate senkos, have only caught one fish on them in about 20-30 trips of throwing them. Trick worms are my good ju-ju bait. Anything by Zoom catches me fish.

That's a fine looking bait! What is it?

fishing user avatarSPEEDBEAD. reply :

That would be the 9" High Power Herring Glide.

Man-sized. :naka:

fishing user avatarNEjitterbugger reply :

Rage craws are definitely my bass magnet bait... Texas rigged and used as a jig trailer are my two favorite ways to use them... I had the best 30min to 1hour of fishing ever with a texas rigged rage craw. It was towards the end of summer and my friend and I wanted to hit a spot that is pretty close to our house, so we said that we would go out for about an hour and be home before dark. So in a short period of time I hooked up with my PB 6lbs 5oz, a 4lbs 14oz, and a 2lbs 9oz, my friend caught a 4lbs 12 oz... That is a solid 4 fish limit for an hour LOL
