I am not sure if I put this in the right thread, but has anyone purchased sunglasses on ebay? I have been looking for costas and they are $100 cheaper everywhere on ebay from many sellers and seems a bit too good to be true haha

They're cheap there too.
And you don't have to worry about buying from an authorized seller to get the limited lifetime warranty.

I bought mine on eBay - the Caballito's for about $89 and they're the real thing, and work great.
Check the seller reputation and recent reviews, that'll tell you what kind of operation they've got and if they're trustworthy.
Also, usually the ones around $100 and lower are the plastic "580P" lenses, not glass "580G" lenses, but you can commonly find the "400G" series lenses under that price point.
Bought mine on ebay, too, have even sent 'em in for warranty
repair! Just be sure the seller has a high rating! I usually look
for 99.7 and up before I consider buying from 'em.
I’ve been contemplating buy Costas or Maui Jim’s for a while and appreciate your input. Any suggestions on lenses, especially with regards to shallow water sight fishing. Thanks, JB
Look at the actual comments and specific feedback from people. The percentage number of their feedback means absolutely nothing if they have hundreds of thousands of feedback. They can still have a high number and have a bunch of bad reviews.

I personally use the Copper Silver Mirrors, but it seems any of the copper base lenses are good for sight fishing. Here's a breakdown of their suggested uses of lens colors

Amber/Copper for contrast in almost all light situations, in my opinion. And as @Preytorien mentioned, the Costa copper-silver look good, but I think they're only on a limited amount of Costa frames so far. Once they come out on the bigger Costa frames, I will check those out.
Right now my goto pair are the Fly Fisherman Cove in Amber on Amazon for about $17.

I don't understand...How can they sell them for cheap? Are they used or something?

Thanks for the recommendations Preytorien, I’ll check them out.

Thanks Junger, I appreciate your help. Right now I’ve been using Revant Optics replacement lenses for my Oakley’s and find them to be very good. But then again, it never hurts to look at a better option if one is available.

Profit margins on sunglasses are enormous. They're mostly made in China/Thailand/Malaysia. Costas probably cost $15 to make if that, even with the glass lenses. So you're paying retail for a brand name (you know the feeling when you roll up to a waterfront bar with a Costa shirt, hat and sunglasses), and a lifetime warranty. I'm guessing that website is buying overstock from other retailers, and selling them for slim profits because they have no storefront and minimal overhead expenses.

I’ve recently bought some of the Oakley Prizm shallow water fishing lenses - still giving them a good shake to see which I like best but as of yet they’re very similar
The biggest thing about getting costas on E-Bay. They have to fit your face, and a lot of costa's don't feel right for me. Go to a good store and try on everyone you can find until you find the right ones for you. Then you know what your looking for. I have the Permit model in glass green and love them. I have had them for probably 6 years and they are good as new. The frames are super tough. Good luck!

That's where I got my costas - I watch them like a hawk for the last two. Steep and Cheep also owns by BackCountry as well. I get those from amazon as I check both sites to make sure that they are same deals.
Make sure that you try those on at the store. Get the model number that you like and order it without any worries
----------------------------------------
Costa Del Mar Fantail Sunglass, Realtree Xtra Camo/Silver Mirror 580Glass
(Amazon sold by BackCountry) $105
Costa Del Mar Fantail Sunglasses, Tortoise, Green Mirror 580G Lens
(Amazon Sold by: Backcountry) $109

I got my 580 G Fathoms from Ebay and they came 100% fine and authentic. I bought mine through a sunglass retailer on ebay though.
All 4 of my pairs of Costas have come off eBay. You can get some great deals.
I got mine on ebay as well and actually for a price that made me wonder if they were knockoffs. They were the real deal though and I've absolutely loved them.
I got mine at Walmart but mine are renagades I won't spend 100 bucks on glasses I have a bad habit of braking or losing my glasses so I'll stick to my renagades they work to!
I got my Costas on eBay as well, and they are perfect! Just be sure to look for the high rating on the seller and everything should go smooth!
I've bought two pairs from two different sellers on eBay and had nothing but great results
I got my 580Gs off eBay. No problems whatsoever.

Do you guys mind listing the seller you used? (I don’t think this breaks any forum rules???) There are lots of sellers on eBay and it’d be nice to have a list of reputable ones.
I recently received a pair of 580G Blackfin on eBay from the seller ultimate.outdoors. As far as I can tell the sunglasses are brand-new and legitimate.

I honestly don't remember. It was a couple of years ago and I don't see that transaction in my history. Maybe the eBay shop closed? I'm not sure. I would just make sure the seller has great reputation and is within the US. Additionally it doesn't hurt to find a shop that is not on the west or east coast. I've seen some of the knock-off shops set up their stores stateside so it seems legit, usually the west coast, but in reality they ship the fakes to a store here then sell it with a US address. Just keep an eye out.
Same here. Sorry man. It is a gamble for sure, but I'd just analyze the feedback
I'd argue there's more legit than fake on eBay.
Personally I wouldn't buy 180$ Costas without trying them on first

I ended up getting a pair of 580g from ultimate.outdoors as well and seem perfect to me

I would, but I can't find the transaction in my history as it's been a few years now. Just look at the sellers feedback before you go through with it.
Sorry about that, I can't find my transaction either. I would say that if they have a very high rating and you receive the sunglasses in their original packaging, you should be good to go!
Hope this helps,
Kevin
I just got a pair from ultimate.outdoors. They're the real deal. Used my 20% off coupon and got them for under $130
