Which is the better bait? I caught my #2 pb on a scum from last summer. However, i notice many anglers on youtube and such like the spro frog. I havent used the spro frog. Whats the difference? Thanks for the help!!
I catch an equal amount on the scum frog popper and the spro frogs. The scum frogs have a better strike to hookup ratio because they completely collapse. The spro frogs have better colors and walk the dog better. It just really depends on what the bass want. The spro casts better being heavier, but the action of the popper is what the fish want at times.
I'll take the Spro every time in that head to head match up. I'm not a big frog fisherman but the popping Spro is slowly changing that.
Not one of your options, but I pick a Live Target Hollow Frog over a SPRO. Each person likes different things. I had a SPRO Bronze Eye once, and never got a blowup on it. Seemed like it always walked to one side (maybe just me). But Koppers Frog, I have many fish on, Love the 65T size. Personally, just had more success and have more confidence in a Koppers than SPRO. But I'm sure there are fisherman out there that has more confidence in SPRO than Live Target. Confidence is EVERYTHING. To help build it, use the Scum and when you have a real good frog bite on, switch to the SPRO in the same color scheme.
Spro over Scumfrog for me.
Overall, its SPRO for me. For hook ups, the Scum Frog shines, but where the SPRO makes it mark is not only in the ability to work and cast the frog better, but the durability of the SPRO outshines the Scum Frog hands down in my opinion. I have several SPROS (as well as a couple Koppers and Evovles), but the one Scum Frog I own I do not even use. It was a gift from my son, and I don't want to have it destroyed by some of the aggressive pickerel in our ponds that we fish and have him get upset.
Make a ceiling fan pull out of it. HAHAHA
Ive done that to a couple of my fav hardbaits.
The Spro is the better of the two by far.
I have both and I usually grab the scum frog because nothing frustrates me more then seeing them blow up on my frog and not hooking it iv got 11 spros and 6 scum frogs iv never caught anything on the spros and the skirts rotted off most of em. Scum frog may get torn up easy but for the price of one spro I can buy 3 scum frogs.
I frog fish a lot. Scum frogs are considerably lighter than a SPRO or comparable. So either you'll need to add weight or throw on spinning gear for a Scumfrog to achieve the same casting distance.
That being said, I caught my PB on a white and green spotted Scumfrog in 2007. They'll catch fish. Since then, I have use Live Target frogs/mice, BPS Kermy, and SK KVD sexy frogs, which I like over SPRO brand. I'll have a Live Target on 95% of the time as I feel that is the best on the market. Purely my opinion. I have probably 30+ hollow frogs in my frog box.
My frog of choice is the Scum Frog Trophy Series. It's weighted so it's different that way than the regular Scum Frog 3/16. For me this is important because I have trouble throwing light frogs on gear suited for froggy conditions.
I also like the way the back end sits below the water dangling its legs.
I almost never miss a hook up on them though I do go through a few of them per year.
Spros are more durable (and nicer to look at) but I seem to miss more fish with them.
Guys who miss fish with frogs............it's the guy pulling the triggers fault, not the frogs. Anyone who has unwanted Spro frogs laying around because "they can't hook up with them" send them to me. I'll wear them out.

I won't just give them to you. I'd probably give them away to an underprivileged kid or pretty much any other random fisherman first. However, PM me if you want to trade something for them (1 Popper/Rainforest Blaclk and 1 65/Navy Seal).
I like the spro popping frog the best. You can walk the frog, pop the frog, fish it any way you want. My best spro frog fish.

Nice hog!
Thanks for the help guys I think I'm going to pick up a spro frog on my next trip to bps. Is there a size I should get or a specific color?
I like black or white based on light/sky conditions. I think they only come in two sizes the regular & baby. I like the bigger size.
one frog probabily wont do you a whole lot of good. I would get 4 frogs. get two of the largest frogs in a dark color, and in a lighter color or white. then get two of the popping frogs one in dark and one in light or white. frog fishing can be the most fun you will have fishing all year dont sell yourself short by only having one. I recamend the largest sizes because typicaly when you frog fish you are targeting big fish not the small to medium size ones.

I can only cast one frog at a time.. And I've sure caught a lot of fish on that one frog. I think one will do you just fine for starters. Don't go spending 35$ on 4 SPRO frogs until you use one, and decide whether or not you like it.

BPS Kermy frog is half the price and equally as good. Take a look when you go.
I have one scum frog and it's only one but it's caught a few good fish, u p
I have one scum frog and it's only one but it's caught a few good fish, I probably don't use it to it's full effectiveness but I like it..
I've caught a lot of fish on Scum Frogs. I still use them today, along with a few others that you didn't list.

Man, you Yankees have all the big fish!!! hahahaha
My PB. You can see the Scum Frog in the mouth still. At the time I was using 8# fireline black on spinning gear.
I've tried both and like the spro popping frog the best. The trick to getting better hook ups with one is bending the hooks up and out a little after I do this I hardly ever miss a fish with one.

Nice fish! Nice low light photo!

Well now...Do you have any pictures of a big fish?
I like both... the spro is high $$ though

If your gunna pick up a spro you might as well pick up a scum frog I think they are like 2-4 bucks... I have never fished a hollow body frog but plan on it this summer, I picked up 4 or 5 scum frogs because they are cheap and people seem to do just fine with them... By the looks of them I think that it's a nice product but I can't be sure til I'm on the water.
I have 2 scum frogs. One is dark green and the other is neon I was jus gonna buy maybe a spro jus to try it out. I actually had a 3rd scum frog but my second to best bass crushed it and it ripped lol.
I think that the SPRO casts out easier than the scum frogs do. As far as catching goes, I have done better on a jitterbug.
They both work well..Don't be so quick to knock the scum frog, it has one thing on most every other frog made; a nice subtle touchdown in the water. This does matter at times in the shallows. I also like how collapsible it is. I don't recall what actual brand it was, but Ive had some of the spro style that the plastic was super stiff. The hooks aint that great, and will rust over time. But, its a 4 dollar bait that actually catches fish.
The original spros are a great quality bait that have been blatantly copied as much as the senko. They're super durable, don't take on water as much as other frogs, and have a super sharp, strong hook.

id say Spro frogs are good... I own the popper version and I love it! BUT since LIVE target frog come out.... This frog is real deal. Ive caught more bass on the live target than spro and scum frog. Id say this... Spro has more weight than live target and scum making it able to cast further. The thing I like about kopper live target frog is the softness. Overall any frog you get, you better get a trailor hook. Alot of short strikes happen and with the trailor hook you get over 1/2 of those bass that short strike.
Sorry I've only used Spro, but I caught HUNDREDS of bass last year on them.
I really like the SPRO frogs. My two favorite colors are the white and Green Tree (pretty much FireTiger). When the legs melt or rip you can take a spinnerbait skirt and a collar for spinnerbait skirts and makes some new legs. if you cut a slit in the little let part that the soft legs come out of, you can superglue the collar with skirt into that leg and it will be pretty much like new. Its the silicon not rubber material but it still works and I have caught a bunch of fish on the same frog after replacing legs like that. Another thing I like about the frog is that it catches big fish. Id say 90% of my fish i have caught on it have been 3 lbs or more
