I haven't seen one of these threads in a while, and thought that it would be a good time for one since it is freezing pretty much everywhere, and we are all reloading the tackleboxes for the coming year.
So, show off the gear you have purchased this year/slash all of your gear.
P.S. everyone loves seeing pictures of large amounts of tackle.
You may have just opened Pandora's box of tackle. So many pictures, in one thread.
Well, I'll start off with the "minimalist" approach - I'm well stocked and ready for spring with these three types of baits (which got me 1050 fish in 2010...) :
Other folks got lots more tackle than I do, they'll be along shortly I expect... ;D ;D
QuoteYou may have just opened Pandora's box of tackle. So many pictures, in one thread.
It will help me to get through another hour or so of cabin fever.
Not much to show........four of the SK KVD squarebills and a few more bags of Hag's Tornado worms. That's it.
I'll have to get a picture Wednesday when my shipment from TW comes in 8-)
QuoteI'll have to get a picture Wednesday when my shipment from TW comes in 8-)
Something about the word "shipment" that got me. Most folks get an "order" in via UPS. A shipment just gives me a vision of a pallet and a freight carrier....
I threw that in there for kicks lol, but it was a nice size order
Here's my tackle, I have a lot of cranks and things in here I have no idea how to use. Most of them need replacement treble hooks, but I haven't looked around yet for any decent ones.
Jigs:
-Top 3 are bitsy jigs
-Bottom 2 are northstar jigs
Cranks/Rattles Side:
Besides all of the arbogast frogs, I have no idea how to properly work any of those cranks. I'm really in the dark on these. Most of them, I don't even know what brand they are. They were bought at a garage sale from a gentleman clearing everything out, so I got them cheap.
Topwater Side:
-A few SK buzzbaits, spinnerbaits
-A few jitterbugs, the yellow one is an older one. I have caught a 6lb 9oz bass on it.
-I have an Excalibur Spook Jr. also, but it isn't pictured. I have had quite a bit of luck with it.
Plastics:
-Storm Wild Eye Shiner Minnows, haven't had any luck on these. For some reason, after I use any type of soft plastic, the bait turns a red color within a day or two, probably from the dirty water?
-Zoom Horny Toads (Junebug)
-Zoom Super Flukes (Baby Bass)
-Zoom Baby Brush Hogs (Emerald)
-Gary Yamamoto Swimming Senkos (green pumpkin, watermelon), had pretty good luck on these, my first successful swimbait.
-Culprit Fire & Ice Worms 7.5", had a lot of luck on these.
-Culprit Pumpkinseed 7.5" Worms, had no luck on these.
-Culprit Red Shad 10" Worms, absolutely love these, had great luck on these.
-BPS Tournament Stick Worms (Bubblegum), had no luck on any type senko knock-offs.
hrm, it will take a me a while tonight to get everything together for a photograph, but I'll try. In the meantime, I will sit back and enjoy what others have to show

Haha, I knew I was gonna get burnt for that. It's probably my unsteady hands. Hang on a sec, I'll see if I can get some better shots.
No, you need more light, or use a camera with a flash.
QuoteNo, you need more light, or use a camera with a flash.
Yeah, you're right actually. I forgot to turn on the flash. Better pics in a few mins.
hmmmm, ok.
I went to the garage to take pictures and realized my tacckle is a mess. That usually means Ive been fishing.
wow sean. you can open up a small tackle shop.
just a few more
Quotewow sean. you can open up a small tackle shop.
Thanks, Ive thought about that. The pics only show a small percentage. All the bulk containers are put away. The stuff you see is easy access to my every day stuff(depending on where Im fishing. The boat is also loaded up with tackle cause Im fishing on thursday.
I have some of those same Coors lite lures, they always seem to produce, but I seem to run out of them on every fishing trip. ;D

uuuhhhh can I move in :-?
I'll have to take some pics. I think I must be as sick as Sean because I have a lot of crap... errrrr necessary equipment too. ;D
QuoteI have some of those same Coors lite lures, they always seem to produce, but I seem to run out of them on every fishing trip. ;D
I order those in bulk as well. I find a Whiskey lure helps em last a bit longer, but like you I seem to run out.
When I had my business I had a 3000sq ft shop for my boat and tackle. It was more then many tackle shops had, and better organized. But I sold and had to move it home. My garage is maybe 600 sq ft so most of my gear is in big totes and put away. There is a season supply of everything I need, and alot I dont need in those pics. When you have alot of room like I did, it doesnt seem like so much stuff.
QuoteI have some of those same Coors lite lures, they always seem to produce, but I seem to run out of them on every fishing trip. ;D
LMAO. I agree. Those are awesome lures to catch some bass. last time I was out for 10 hours, because of that d**n lure. (well, I juice it up with some blue label and pepsi). haha!
Not that the amount amazes me ( I 've seen a pile as large .... somewhere ) , what I like is the organization Sean has in his stuff.
Took more than a few minutes, but here's some better pictures .
Thanks Raul, it is organized pretty well. However it needs a bit more work to get it where I want. The work bench is normally clean and used to work on my tackle.
Sean,
That's a great way to organize your stuff, where can I find some hook and board like yours? Or you made it yourself.
My slant on "reorganizing" is to get rid of stuff I will
never fish. Most of this are lures that came with
a "package" purchased from guys here or given to
me one way or another. I used to think I fished about
25% of my tackle, but after going through it the last
few weeks, I have come to the conclusion it's more
like 10% or less! At any rate, I have disposed of a
bunch of baits and hope some of it works out for other
fishermen here at BassResource.com.

QuoteSean,That's a great way to organize your stuff, where can I find some hook and board like yours? Or you made it yourself.
Its called pegboard. You can get it and the hooks at any hardware/home improvement store.

so since you have 40,000 times more gear than I do, does that mean you catch 40,000 times more fish? haha just kidding but that does seem pretty darn excessive. I think I am going to have to send those pics to my girlfriend so she stop thinking I spend too much on tackle.

Not even close. We have several members here with similar amounts or more.
If you actually use the stuff and/or compete in tournaments, it's far from excessive.
You know, when my wife complains about the amount of tackle, I just show her threads like this and it puts it all into perspective for her, lmao!

Man, That sure is a lot of gear you have.
All I have to ask is: Don't you get paranoid about what to use once your on the water haha?
QuoteQuoteSean,That's a great way to organize your stuff, where can I find some hook and board like yours? Or you made it yourself.

Well yes and no. It is a peg board but its not board. I think its called Gator Board. I bought 3 of the fishermans kit package deals. It comes with some 4"x30" also, but I have not found a place to mount those yet. It comes with pegs, but I went and bought 40 longer ones from Home Depot for my favorites. The peg board gets old, and sometimes breaks apart under weight. This stuff also comes in clored as well. Check out the In the House segments on Basszone. Its pretty cool to see some of the pro's set ups. Alot of them have the Gator Board.

Im not sure, but its fair to say that I catch quite a few fish. Im going thurday. I have several sponsors to so I get some stuff free. But, the Zoom and Reaction Innovations stuff I buy in large quantities. Say 20 packs of each color of my favs, and maybe 5 of a few others. Ive also been doing this for a while, so it builds up over time. When I go to a Pro/Am I tend to spend a few hundred bucks every time. Ive stopped doing that with new styles. I was getting to many different baits. I couldnt keep track of em and I wasnt using them. Made my friends very happy every fall when I clean out inventory.
I also buy a case of new Plano's every year. I replace the oldest most beat up boxes with new. I have a friend likes the old ones. There are usually some baits left in them for him to use. I moved the stuff to my garage 8 months ago and I still cant get it the way I want. Some crazy lady who says she is my wife keeps demanding half the garage. > I used to have a sponsor that was a custom pour expert. Guy was always giving me more and more. He would make my preferred colors and do an amazing job. Unfortunately he passed on 2 years ago. I still have plenty of inventory though. Those are kept in the plastic drawers below.I really need to get the drawers organized and labeled, thats my last bit to do.
QuoteMan, That sure is a lot of gear you have. All I have to ask is: Don't you get paranoid about what to use once your on the water haha?
I have alot of experience on the lakes in Northern California. I usually pack the boat depending on where Ill be fishing. Then pack a few "what if" baits and Im good to go. But last year I screwed up. Went to a tournament expecting to power fish and ended up having to buy a drop shot rod. >:(I wont make that mistake again.

Wooooo i got to ask hows that new Skeet Reese Honeycomb rod and that Shimano Caenen working? Thats the same combo i have been looking into for a while now.
Roby
I love it. VERY light combo. The rod has a nice tip and a pretty good backbone. I use it for flukes almost only but if i needed to throw a DS or a Shakeyhead i could on it. I like throwing flukes on a weighted hook b/c I think that it gives them more action. It seems that the micro guides do add some distance you can cast.
Clancy W
Perfect that sounds awesome. Im really going to have to look into it. Thanks for the info

Haven't bought anything yet, but I'm going to the Ultimate Fishing Show this weekend, and i plan on picking up a few "souvenirs" .

Jigs and top water

great pics bwell!!!
Well, my lakes are all frozen, and lots of snow on the ground, no fishing today for me...so I got out my meager tackle collection this morning and shot some pics.
And some more.
A note on the tub full of plastics - it will hold about 50 bags and I have a self-imposed limit that when the tub is full, I can't buy any more plastics...but I do seem to have more and more bags of plastics stuffed in the tackle bags and squirrelled away in a few other places.... :
great pics.
And some more...
Goose,
You sure do have a lot of stuff for someone who seems to be a minimalist fisherman.
wow goose, you are really stocked for this Spring.
QuoteGoose,You sure do have a lot of stuff for someone who seems to be a minimalist fisherman.
It's sorta like Roadwarrior said earlier in this thread - there's what you got...and what you actually fish with. I've got a basic arsenal of baits, but at the end of the day, 90% of my fish came from the three baits in the photo I posted at the beginning of this thread (below again). HOWEVER, this season I will be doing a lot more cranking and getting the spinnerbaits wet!
I get what your saying. I'm kind of the same way except I don't have near as much stuff as you guys have.
I was surprised to not see more grubs though. You were killin em on those last year.
I didn't spread out all the plastics...but there's about 8-10 bags of grubs in the plastics storage bin.
Quotewow goose, you are really stocked for this Spring.
...and for Spring 2012, and for Spring 2013, and for Spring 20xx...
Minimalits doesn 't mean you don 't own a bunch of stuff, it means that you can fish with a minimum amount of it.
However, better have and not need than need and not have so when I go on the boat I carry enough to sink it, when I 'm on foott well, a couple of cranks, a spinnerbait and a handful of plastics gets the job done.

I agree with what your saying. I was surprised to see so much variety in his lures after reading what he catches most of his fish on.

You and me both Raul. Below is my walk-around box - small enough to fit in my back pocket, or more typically, carried in a fanny pack. If I'm fishing plastics, I'll have a bag of those stuck in a pocket as well.

I guess that's what's good, and bad, about confidence baits... ;D I just end up using that grub whenever I think the fish are in about 5 fow or less. I could probably do OK in the same situations with a spinnerbait, and perhaps shallow cranks, but it's just too easy to keep tossing that grub. :

Here's what I picked up at BPS Saturday. Bought more cranks at Academy sports that I will post up later. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic.

heres a few picks of what I bought the other day. A lot is missing do to my phone camera sucks.

Fun pictures! I really haven't got much this year. Still need to order line and spinnerbait parts, but i'm pretty well set. I was hoping that Raul would put up a few pics. Someday i'll figure it out and post a few. We older guys that have been enjoying this sport for a long time tend to have ALOT of baits.
