I caught my personal best LMB last week. I thought it was interesting because I had 5 rods on the deck. I had a jig, 10 inch thumper worm on a Carolina Rig, deep diving crankbait, bronzeye frog, and t-rigged Rage craw all tied on. I thought I'd get the larger fish on the C-rig fishing deep because that was the pattern that day but I ended up catching my PB (6.8lb, 22 in.) on the Rage Craw pitching to docks after the C-rig bite slowed down. That's my confidence bait. That got me to wondering what others have caught their PB on.

I still think fishing a tube is boring.
Largemouth: Wacky Rig BPS Stik-O 5"
Smallmouth: Bomber Model A crankbait
Yum Wollee Bullee in Black/Red Flake. Ironically, the first soft plastic bait I had ever bought. Used them a couple of times, didn't care for them. Pulled them out about a year later, and BOOM!
1.5 Silent Square Bill in a basic shad pattern. Those 1.5 Silent baits really do well around here all year, but especially in the spring and fall, mostly die to the bass keying on shad movement at those times. 9/10 times with those its a feeding strike, then in the summer time i go to a 2.5 or larger bait and bump it off cover or use a noisy bait to get reaction strikes. Sorry for writing a book lol
Not absolutely sure which fish was bigger, but it is either a Pearl White Zoom Superfluke, or a 6th Sense Crush 300DD in Live Baby Bluegill.
9" Bull Shad
White buzzbait
Largemouth (US): 5.1 pounds - DT10 custom painted craw
Smallmouth (US): 20" (no weight) - Tube
Largemouth (CAD): 22" (no weight) - chart/white spinnerbait
Smallmouth (CAD): 21.75" (no weight) - Skitter Pop frog
I like to count Canada as totally different because the fishing up there is totally different from the heavily pressured waters around here in western PA.
Gold Leverage 1/2oz buzzbait.
Scum Frog. Green and white
4" black w/blue fleck senko, T-rigged weightless 8 lb trilene xl, 6' med spinning rod (wife's outfit).
Didn't get an official weight, but it measured 27 1/2 x 20. I've caught a few fish close to 10 lbs before and this thing dwarfed them. But no picture so it didn't happen...
Capt. Ken Daubert #4 Brown Spotted Bull Clone Frog - http://www.floridakayakfishing.com/clone-series-frogs.html
My personal best are tied....
1 on a Homemade green pumpkin orange burst 5/16oz jig
1 on a white booyah 3/8oz spinner one small Colorado and one larger willow leaf.
An odd bait that I don't think was around very long. A Yum Big Show Paddle Worm. I think it was touted as a Terry Scroggins design.
Seems like a good mix of stuff like I expected but I do see a good amount of folks having success with senkos.

Just to make sure I follow the "no pic so if didn't happen" rule, here's a pic of my PB. I WISH we could see 10 pounders like that but we just don't see fish like that all that often up here. The state record is 11lbs and change.

Bluegill Chatterbait over beds in late April. Cast into a spot and the bait must have fallen straight down into the bed and a 9 lb.er locked down on it. Followed up the next day in same area with a 7 lb.er but she thumped the bait off the bed.

Phenix Brent Eherler Jig
Largemouth a 2" yellow grub bought prerigged so I could fish a pond that was in the area we were vacationing at in Florida around 30 years ago. Still remember I cast out what I thought was a good cast and thought I was snagged on something. Yanked back hard to free it and the water erupted. I know it was big, not a giant, but being a punk kid I didn't know to measure it.
Smallie was with a Ned rig. Finally got a 20 on the river. While a lot of guys probably catch 20s all the time my river system produces a lot of 18 to 19" fish, not many Giants. I know with 95% certainty that this fish is over 8 years old which also gives me an idea that giant river smallies will be few and far between for me on this system.
smallmouth - 1/4oz bitsy bug jig, 3" yum craw papi - pumpkin

PB was...believe it or not...on a t-rigged 4" Lucky Strike curly-tail worm (walmart special) in motor oil/red when I was 12 or 13. Don't remember the exact weight but it is hanging on the wall above my desk. Since then I've had a few fish that were close on a c-rig and one on a good old Creme Lit'le Fishie that used to be so popular for striper fishing...
I might have caught a new personal best on the Zoom Ultra Vibe Speed craw Tuesday evening. I didn't have a scale or even a phone to take pics. But it fought harder and looked bigger than any bass I've ever caught. So my 3 biggest fish have come on...drum roll please...

Update: An old BPS white Uncle Bucks brand tandem willow blade white spinnerbait. But I lost a sure PB on a T rigged Yamamoto Hula Grub.
Berkley powerbait 10 inch power worm black with a blue tail T-Rigged.
I am pretty sure I lost what would have been my new PB on a dirty jigs 3/4 oz swim jig with a RI skinny dipper in white trash. Reel locked up and I couldn't even turn the handle. The fish was ripping line and then pop, he's gone.
7 lb even super skinny spawned out female, post spawn. Caught her on a black/blue Booyah Baby Boo jig with matching Yum Crawbug trailer. What can I say. I really like Pradco stuff. Maybe not as much as I did back then though. Caught her on a gravel flat on a creek arm about a 1/2 mile from the main river.
Back then I didn't do a lot of skirted jig fishing, but when I did it was usually finesse jigs. I very rarely throw black/blue plastics. I guess I should since that was the color I caught that big girl on.
Oops, just read whole thread. Guess it's not just LMB.
PB 15.5" Guadalupe Bass was on a Rapala Original Floating Minnow size 5; color bleeding copper flash. Was actually fishing for Redbreast with my long glass UL rod on the Upper Guadalupe and caught quite a few of them when this came out of a place were the river bottle necks and current is faster.
PB 3.1 Spot came from an EasTex river on a pearl shad color Bomber Model B squarebill. That's a big spot for out that way. They have some Coosa strain spots in some reservoirs in the North, NW and East, but this one was a Kentucky Spot.

Zoom Z-Drop in green pumpkin with tail dipped in JJ's magic chartreuse. It was cold weather, so the small profile and light action was key.
My pb10lbs was caught on a rebel BIG CLAW crawfish crankbait. I was casting parallel to shore on a drop off. This man made dam/road had a low bridge I was fishing from. I castes parallel to the shoreline about 2' from shore. There's a channel that flows under the bridge. I ripped the crawfish crankbait from the shoreline into the channel when she hit it. In the low light at first the size of this bass shocked me. I only seen fish this big in saltwater. The rebel big crawfish crank is one of my best bass catching lures. The smaller ones work great in streams and rivers.
My pb is 5.97lbs caught on a wacky rigged green pumpkin red flake/watermelon Senko but on a drop shot rig. I was fishing about 15ft+ of water where some rocks met some trees at a point. Slowly working the bottom with a few erratic pops and I got nailed hard.
Had some down time at work and came across this thread. So like the numbers geek that I am, I added up and categorized most of the pbs (didn't know what some of the baits were, and if multiple ones I just used the first one listed.) it breaks down like this
Jig/swimjig- 25
Crankbaits- 19

That's a fine point. I've caught two very close to the same size so in addition to the old BPS Uncle Buck's white spinnerbait with tandem hammered nickel willow blades, I'd have to include the original Snag Proof Frog. The same one seen in my avatar.
Largemouth - 10.8 lb on a paycheck punch skirt and rage craw punch rig
