Some of the discussions on here lately got me to thinking about some of the old tackle we used. Here were some of my favorites
Rebel Wee R and Humpy silver and black and the old brown crawdad pattern. I don't buy the new ones they just are not the same
The original Bomber I still have a couple of wood ones.
Whopper Stopper Hellbender silver shad and frog finish. The frog finish was deadly. A buddy used to hold them with the bill pointed up and say they looked like Mickey Mouse.
Storm Hot N Tot the small size they were outstanding for the first few years
The original Rapala of course
The Jitterbug we have already talked about that, I still have some wood ones.
River Runt shad finish a sinking count down bait was excellent for big bass.
An old Creek Chub wood plunker, I still use it.
Shannon Twin Spinner sort of a jig/spinner hybrid
The original Creme worm black or purple never did any good with the natural
The Fliptail lizard for the first few years they were deadly on big bass. Might have been the first soft bait the bass saw after the Creme worm
Stren line, didn't know about anything else
Garcia Ammbassdeur 5000 casting reels the red one. Still have mine, still work
Mitchell spinning reels models 300 and 308, still have them, still work.
There are others but these are the ones I remember the most I used these many years ago and I caught as many bass as I do now.
Ted Williams Approved Spinning Rods- with those metal ferrules
Mitchell 300 and 310's
Mann's Jelly Worm- still use them
Jitterbugs-still use them
Jittersticks; still have a few
Lil George: for smallies
Shannon Twin Spin
Johnson Silver Minnow
Uncle Josh's Real Pork Rind Frogs( nasty smelling)
Creme Prerigged Crawlers
Lucky 13
Spence Scout

Arbogast MudBugs-one left :-[
Rebel Mystic Minnows
at one time, the only worm you could get around here was the old two hook creme's.
one had a spinner up front...the other did not.
choice of two colors, red or black.
both deadly.
Those two hooked creme worms with the spinner in front were the best when i was kid. A secret weapon at the old farm pond where i'd sneak off to fish after school.
H&H spinnerbaits. They look kinda goofy compared to other spinnerbaits today, but they are so small and heavy I still throw them on windy days.
Lazy Ike, my first crankbait.
Muddy, you can still find the Mud Bugs on ebay...there are actually quite a few on there currently.
Thanks,,SSSHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am waiting for my tax return
Rebel came out with a crankbait in the early 70's called the Super R. It got reviewed in Bassmaster mag. Great bait though I lost my last one several years ago.
Strike Kings Timber King spoon with the buzz blade in the front. A takeoff on the Rex spoon buzzer which is still sold today by Rex spoons who are still in business.
BPS Uncle Bucks buzzer. An in-line buzzer that's been around a long time. One of the best buzz baits for buzzing holes in matted milfoil and hydrilla.
Original Wiggle Warts. While I can't say that the old WW's catch more fish for sure, I can say the color selection available back then was far more extensive than today.
The Lunker lure. Properly tuned, this bait is as good a buzz bait as any.

Hey Raul: We have a fella at work who has a huge collection of Crazy Crawlers , dating back to the earliest ones. I can't believe the changes that bait has gone through!
QuoteHey Catt, you are the second fella I know to mention a weedless Sally, what kind of bait was that?
yall missed one the REBEL 'redneck' it was a plastic bait with a red collar that looked like gills i still have some i think maybe 3 .i should mount them what yall think?????
A lot of good ones already mentioned. Love the old Bomber metal-lipped cranks and the Arbogast Mud Bugs.
Also the Creme straight-tailed worms.
Bagley's DB3's, KB1's and B-Flats
A little less known - but the Pete Reynold's "Little Petey" Among the first shallow, flatsided balsa cranks - and has been copied/modified many times since......still well worth the $ when you can find them.
This bait is KILLER.
Catt, I could fill many live wells with the fish I caught on that Snagless Sally. Down here in the south Louisiana marshes I grew up throwing that and a 9 1/4" Little Bend worm, and a Johnson silver minnow spoon with an Uncle Josh pork frog trailer. That was our complete tackle box, didn't need anything else back then.
I love that pic!

I still have a box of them..... BPS, mid eighties
Can't believe no one has mentioned the rooster tail. Still use them to this day-very all-purpose bait. also have to agree w/ the H&H spinner baits, the single blade model. By the way, greetings guys-new guy here.

Hey, those Culprits aren't strictly for those in the South. I still have some old packs from way back mixed in with my new ones. I have a lot of good memories tied to these worms as well as some of the other lures mentioned. Here's some of my oldies but goodies.

this tackle shop had bagley,s for sale a few yrs ago with like a boob outline on them said politicly incorrect on the sign above um .were they worth money then and now???
A note to some that have replied and spoke of the creme 6" scoundrels,i have way too many purple glo tails and grape glo tails,my dad almost always fished with these so my numbers of these after his death are way more than i will ever use in my lifetime,if anyone is interested in them all i ask is shipping cost and i will send them to you.
Creme 6" natural accounted for about 75% of last seasons catch of bass. The local bait shop keeps em just for me.
