I can't seem to find the "perfect" weedless wacky rig hook for 5inch senkos.. The owner 1/0 weedless wacky hook just does not cut it for me..at a pond there perfect but when I'm out in the boat I get hung up constantly.. Any suggestions?

I also like the Gamakatsu hooks. I just got some 1/8oz VMC wacky jig heads and I like those a lot too. Not heard good things about the VMC weighless wacky hooks though. I stick with Gamakatsus there.

I've been trying out the Hayabusa Spin Muscle weedless wacky hooks and *really* like how they perform. I also use Gammy hooks, took a chance on Hayabusa at TW, very impressed.

I have the size 2 model and boy do bass stay buttoned up. Planning to buy the 1 and 1/0 sizes next.
The perfect weedless hook for wacky Senkos.
They will handle any bass in any cover.
You can't buy them, but you can make them like I do.

x2 I have been playing with these. I will also recommend the Gamakatsu weedless split/drop shot hook in the larger sizes (1/0, 2/0)
beat out the others I tried. Most notably the VMC weedless wacky hook. Guard too stiff and breaks after only a few fish.
Another vote for the weedless finesse widegap. Don't get the K-hook style. Idk what it is about those hooks but I lose 90% of the fish I hook with those and miss countless more. The ones I do get are barely hooked.

I've used 3/0, 2/0 and 1/0. I've had luck with all 3. 3/0 if you're in an area that has some big LMB, if not the 1/0 will work. You get 5 hooks in the 1/0 pack. I've caught a 3#er with it and no problems.
So cp recommends 3/0 any one else has any recommendations?? I was using the owner 1/0 wacky hooks but this weekend I bent one on a 3 or 4lb fish. I didn't have a scale..I'm scared to go 1/0 again.
I base hook size on the bait size, I don't want the plastic to take up all the hook bend. The one I posted is 4/0
Additionally I largemouth bass fish and use an appropriate hook for that species.

I use 1/0 or 2/0 usually

Well... I've never bent a hook on a fish, and my PB of 7.5 lbs was caught in thick weeds, with another pound or so of weeds in the mix on 10lb braid + 10lb leader and a size #1 Gammy Wide Gap Finesse hook. Those are some seriously strong hooks Gammy makes.
I've caught 3-6 pounders on the Hayabusa #2 I mentioned above...but I still will probably up that hook to a 1 or 1/0.

x2 here
I been using the eagle claw weedless hooks for all my senko's except for the BPS Stik O Worms that are 7 1/4" long. There a larger diameter.
I use VMC weedless wacky hooks. I like their eyelets (on all their hooks) because they are resin coated so the knot never travels through that small space.
Aannd I can't link to TW? Odd.

Interesting. I bought a pack and found the wire weed guards way too stiff. So I clipped a few cm to make them stand out. Better, but missed several bass on hook sets. Not had that problem with Hayabusa or Gammy. Now I like single strand wire guards on the buckeye wacky jig head...but not VMC.

Huh? How did you clip a few cm off this? And it's "soft" plastic, so it couldn't bee too stiff.

The weed guard is metal. I used wire cutters...
From the product description at TW: "they come equipped with a wire weedguard that conveniently locks into place on the barb or the hook to protect from snags"

Strange. The ones I have are plastic and have a tendency to work them selves loose frequently due to how soft they are. Of course, I got mine at Wally World, so.....

That's where I got mine, too. I know that Gammy uses the plastic which can work itself loose. Are yours maybe an older style which used the plastic?
The eagle claw needless hooks go up to 5/0 in size. This is all I use for needless hooks. Make sure your using the right size hook. I just purchased the BPS Stik O Worm in the biggest diameter senko I have ever seen. Not opening the package to look at them before I left home I didn't have a bigger hook to use them. So I tried the biggest hook I had with me. You know what happened next right. As the stock o worm got close to shore were I could see it the biggest bass I have ever seen swam up and it had my worm in its mouth. A gallazion thoughts ran threw my mind in milliseconds. Do I dare try to set the hook? This is the new state record I been hunting for. Every time I catch other bass in this spot I been seeing bigger bass swim by me. Well I tried to set the hook and out the worm came. I didn't cry. My point if you never used senko' s and are new to them make sure your hook size I'd correct. This is a time when bigger is better.
I know I should of done my homework with this bigger worm first. Live and learn. Now I have every weedless hook that's known to man. This experience makes me fish harde
I used the standard senko hook on the super sized stick o worm and the bass won.
Gamma offers a weedless up to 6/0.
I like a Falcon K Wacky hook in the 3/0 size. You can get them unweighted and in various weights. I generally use the 1/16 oz weighted ones, cause I like the drop speed that I get with them more than the unweighted ones. If I am using a weedless wacky hook on a senko, always use an O ring, rather than putting the hook through the bait.
I don't have much experience doing this, but have used the VMC Ike approved weedless wacky hooks and had great success.
