Bill Lewis Rat-L-Trap. Especially for this time of year.
Your thoughts gentlemen?
Senko, nothing comes close
Not likely to be the most popular choice around here, but I gotta go with Field and Stream's take on this exact question, from 9 years ago:
Curly Tail Grub on a jighead:
http://www.fieldandstream.com/photos/gallery/fishing/bass/2006/04/50-greatest-lures-all-time/
It was the first artificial lure I ever had regular success with, and while I don't use them much any more, it's not because they ever stopped producing. They still will catch almost anything, almost all the time.
More largemouth bass have been caught on a plastic worm than all other lures combined.

Senk-o. You can never go wrong
Plastic worm .
Plastic Worm or Plastic Craw
Plastic worm
Mepps Aglia
Plastic creme 6" worm number #1
BPS XPS TOPNOCKER #2
JIG #3
Mepps Anglia inline #4
Bomber cranks #5
Rapala original floating minnow. #6
The BPS TOPNOCKER is the greatest topwater popper/knocker I have ever used and it's discontinued.
Since the question is "Greatest Lure Of All Time", that does not mean most productive or popular, but suggests best or most fun to fish.
The best lure ever is the hollow body frog. It's weedless, extremely effective, and is the most to fish. If you don't believe me watch theTacticallBassin' videos on the Bully Wa2 and the Spittin' Wa. CRAZY!
A jig.

I'm ready for something alright.

A jig
Break it down even further,
I agree a plastic worm type bait is the "best" all time...But which you ask??
For me it's the Sluggo
Mike
This is a tough one... I think the most fun and best bass I've caught is with a Gamble Cane toad.. I'm a Rat l Trap nut and I love to flip, pitch and swim a jig. Go Siebert!
All said and done on the worst day out there the worms win hands down..............

I heard they might be bringing the top knocker back.

If I had to take a plastic worm type and I like to categorize , worms, craws , lizards ...together, I'd opt for the Zoom Lizard .
i'm pretty partial to the panther martin inline spinner. Black with yellow spots, gold blade 1/8oz.
That is the "12 gauge" of lures, will basically hit everything in one shot.
thinking the senko/plastic worm is the obvious #2 for me

^^This^^
Plastic worm.
Original Floating Rapala
GYCB Senko
1. Mann's Jelly Worm I prefer black grape color.
2. The Original H&H Spinner bait in black / black yellow.
fluke.
senko style worm
Jig and pig.
If they do I'll place a big orderOn 10/7/2015 at 12:56 AM, bowhunter63 said:I heard they might be bringing the top knocker back.
Send bps a message to bring back the topnocker.???
I'll go with plastic worm. Specifically, the 7-inch Power Worm since that is the one I have had the most success with.
Zoom Flukes. Probably in a month my answer will be different.
Jigs were one of the first lures made and they still catch loads of fish to this day.
i believe the Roboworm 6'' straight tail worm are the best worms .......
A jig is my go to bait.
Plastic worm.
I'll take a purple one please...
Rat L Trap is a great bait, as is the inline spinner.
I'd have to agree with the grub. I caught more bass on a "Mister Twister" before the age of 13 than anything else, including a few 4+ while fishing for perch and crappies. I've also caught fish throwing a big Mogambo 6'' grub like a buzzbait. I should use them more than I do.
I catch more on a craw type soft plastic so to me it's.
1. Craw
2. Fluke
2. Worm
