This new swimbait looks pretty amazing. Most realistic looking Shad I've seen to date...
Spro 4" Shad
Wow, they look great.
micro i hate you.
you have now made me spend 20 bucks on a lure.... :-/
Wow
I can't wait to get my hands on these
Micro,
That is a beautiful bait.
I visited the "double secret" tackle shop in my area that sells Japanese lures and I purchased some beautiful baits that you can't find anywhere, other than the internet.
The artwork is simply beautiful. Just like the lure you showed us.
The one that blew my mind is the Pop Max GG Peacock which resembles a bleeding yellow perch. The details are excellent. It looks like a real fish.
The Mr-X Griffon and the Virbation-X Ultra by Megabass are also beautiful.
I purchased a Megabass Type-X orange back - goldpearl frog. Never have seen such a frog before. Totally different from any frogs I have ever seen. It is designed to go right, left and upside down and it always turns right-side up.
I am planning to throw these "different" baits in four tournaments coming up in June but I just can't help myself so I will be throwing them before to get the hang and feel of them.
I also picked up an IMA Roumba in the Bull Frog style. This bait was honorable mention at the ICast show and it is something that I would like to bite. It is a beautiful bait and I hope it produces some nice strikes.
Please let us know how you do with the baits. PM me if you can after you give them a good workout.
Isn't it great to throw something different that the fish have not seen day in and day out? Thanks for sharing the information.
Now, to get boat back from Jerry Cooper's shop and hit the rivers

If Uncle Sam will ever send out that friggin' rebate check, our secret shop is going to get a good chunk of it.
What's this super secret shop I keep hearing about? I see you live in the Richmond Norfolk area... Not so far from me...
Sorry AvalonJohn,
It is a secret.
And it is far from Winchester.
Later,
Sam

The SPRO Threadfin Shad won't be available until after ICAST...probably September.

i sure am!
Quoteso who else is definitley buying one of these as soon as they come out?i sure am!
Dunno, maybe someone that has more money to spend than brains ..... hey, how come "one of these" ? you need several !
PD:
VIDEO !!, sincerely yours, The BaitMonkey !.
:'( baitmonkey's already going "ching-ching!"
Those look awesome! Thanks for that video link raul.
i choose to ignore your money over brains comment but thanks for the vid! that thing looks awesome!
i have been wanting a hard shad swimbait for the longest time. i was even about to make my own. thankfully now i dont have to. this is exactly what i was looking for.
Now that looks sweet. Looks like it will be a great striper bait, too.
I will defenitely be spending $20 on one of these. That thing looks freaking awesome.
i think i will have to spring for one too. i have been wanting to try out some swim baits, what better time to start than right after the ICAST!!!
Here's a new Tru-Tungsten bait. The SPRO looks better.

it's coming out in september and I've been waiting patiently for this thing. my b-day is in sept. and I'm requesting one of a different color from everyone I know.... ;D
It never ends... :-[
d**n bait monkey!!!!
Wife is gonna kill me for sure!!!
HAHAHA ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
That's a sick looking bait for sure.
Looks great. Hope it works AND holds up better than the Strike King King Shad. That thing broke apart in no time with plastic joints holding it together.... >
Contacted SK and they say a new one is on the way (3 weeks ago) so we'll see.
Regardless, this bait from SPRO looks incredible and with 2 more joints in the body probably swims much in a much more realistic manner as well. Nice paint job too!
$20 committed on my end when it's available......
Want to see it in action? Here is it courtesy of John Crews of SPRO doing a demo on YOU TUBE.
This looks friggin's amazing...

I have 12 cases on order. You gotta get your orders in early with SPRO as they are SLOW to ship many times.

yeah that thing looks way fake but the trade off is that it has those 2 hooks

easy on the knockoff comment! Every time a new bluegill bait comes out it's a knockoff! They're all knockoff of the real thing and there's only so many ways to do a bluegill. Matt makes an awesome bait and he was one of the first to do it right!

The face shape on the Spro bait tells the story for me. No real bluegill has the face/head shape cut into it like Matt's original bluegill. That's why the Spro bait shouldn't have the same shape cut into the face/head either if a real bluegill doesn't. Look at the shape of the head in the area circled. I took these off BBZ site where Bill is trying to show the differences in the baits. I don't see any way they can argue that they didn't copy Matt's bait and then make changes. Real bluegills aren't shaped that way in that area and others like the Baitsmith bluegill don't have that shape. Looks like they used Matt's bait to shortcut instead of making their own. That why I will wait on the Tru-Tungsten shad.
im not sure what that picture is trying to say?
well i think that spro did copy mattlures, thats pretty hard to argue.
but i still think they both will be great baits!
im not the type who won't use a lure because its a knockoff. if the spro is cheaper than the mattlures i will give it a shot. if they are the same price, i would go with mattlures because mattlures looks a little bit better than the spro.
I agree I will buy the knockoff if its half the price of matts. It also looks a little smaller so that would be a plus to.
Right on Randall!
I wont fish another one of bill's baits because of this stuff. And i've poked a few big ones on the 8" bbz.
Stand up for the REAL big bait makers who do it themselves!
Every bass fisherman has knockoffs in their tackle box or boat. There is very little that is original in fishing as most baits are just tweaked versions of someone else's work. That is the norm in the tackle business.
Looks like a nice bait, but I've never caught *anything* on anything other than a worm, and plastic worms. :

Same here. The fact is the BBZ was a complete knock off the Rago Trout and now the bluegill is a complete knock off of Mattlures bluegill. Obviously it is not the first time a bait/lure has been knocked off to make some money (i.e. senko). My problem is with the consistant pattern of ripping off baits, stamping BBZ on them and calling them your own. This gives the true swimbait innovators little incentive to continue coming out with new lines when they know it will be shipped to China for mass production.

True, there are only so many ways to do a bluegill, but can you not make it so obvious. Maybe do something better than scanning an original into a computer and adding another hook? At least change the scale pattern and shape. It is laughable.
