Today I caught 2 bass on a spro popper frog then I caught a giant bullfrog on the next cast accidentally. The funny thing about it is that I saw a picture of someone that caught a frog on a frog earlier in the morning and then had the same thing happen to me. What is the craziest thing or creature you caught on a lure?
A snake on a ribbon tail worm, a bucket, and an old boot on a square bill
Geez what haven't I caught on a bait? Snapping turtles on almost everything, they'll really stop a crankbait or jerkbait. Most surprising one was a spook. Catfish on almost everything I've fished, including topwater. Had a 6 or 7 pound flathead on a buzzbait and a 10 pound channel cat on a frog. Caught a sleeping bag on a jigging spoon, didn't look inside it, didn't want to know if anything was in it or not. I've had some rocks fool me into thinking I'd hooked a monster. The thin, flat ones are worse because they glide and feel like a big fish that is just slowly cruising and taking line. I've had a 21" walleye and 21" bass the same day, both on chunks of cut bluegill fishing for catfish. The list goes on and on.
Friend hooked a water snake on a frog.
He cut the line.
Gave me the willies just talking about it.
Salt water fishing, caught a Flounder on a shad body being trolled at about 6 mph! Craziness
Another time on an offshore charter, my dad reeled up a rod/reel that had been dropped overboard a few weeks earlier off the same boat!! The Captain argued with dad that he knows the Dr who dropped it overboard,....dad was like,...cool, ...tell him I appreciate the butterfingers but I just pulled it off the bottom of the ocean FISHING,...so its mine now,lol
Them Bullfrogs LOVE a hollow body frog. Threw one last week and you could see em crawlin through the mats to take a look...even watched the water wake as they swam in. They jumped all over my Frog time and time again...
I've caught countless frogs on hollybelly frogs on mats.
Last year I caught a giant snapping turtle on 7# fluoro casting a drop shot near some weed lines. I just felt a tick, leaned back and just felt dead weight. I thought I had a log until this massive shell surfaced and started thrashing. He had the whole dang thing in his mouth. No idea how the line didn't break. I promptly cut the line as I didn't see me winning that one.
I've had snappers three times really starting to get irritated bout it snagged a carp while working a swimbait a bull frog on a Texas rigged craw a pumpkinseed on the tail of a shaky head and last but not least a sock on a crankbait
Caught a spotted nose gar on a rapala x-rap, and a goose on a chatter bait (lost the chatter bait on that one)!
hooked a pelican with a spook. A bullfrog on a Rage Craw. A musky on a 15" largemouth. A bald eagle with a perch (real bad time). And one time a very close passing jetski....
I have caught several bull frogs on hollow body frogs, I once had a blue heron nab a spinnerbait I reeled past the area he was "fishing", and I caught a sandle that put up one heck of a fight on deep crankbait.
Last year I was wading a small creek and caught a 8 pound snapper on a 1/16 white roaster tail
snappers are saltwater fish right? No saltwater in TN.On 6/17/2013 at 10:20 AM, Smallieslayer2234 said:Last year I was wading a small creek and caught a 8 pound snapper on a 1/16 white roaster tail

Pretty sure he meant snapping turtle I've caught geese ducks pelicans lures rods all kinds of stuff
Hooked into a deer carcass with a spoon fishing for pike.
My friend caught a pelican in florida... I'm too good to catch anything but the species I am targeting.
Just rocks, wood, and weeds for me.
Hooked a bumper on a moving tractor-trailer with a bucktail off the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel, smoked my drag for a second before the line broke lol.
Baby alligator.
Not me, but my buddy sent me this picture last week. Said the fight was OK, but live release was an adventure. lol
Cranking a speed trap and hooked a dead body, or more like the guys hat and some flesh on my treble. It scared the living s**t out of me. Oh and the same day caught a catfish on topwater
Caught a 4 ft. piece of rebar trolling on Lake Michigan and two rods and reels on the same afternoon on KY. Lake.
True Story, casting under a bridge from a pier, I casted over the guard rail. I start reeling and hear vroom. Next thing you know I was spooled. And the line stopped my buddy walked around up on to the bridge and line was cut and wedged in a bolt on the guard rail. Lmao so yea caught a car on a saltwater plug.
Starfish, Dungeness crab, and sea anemones while fishing for rockfish.

that is literally my worst nightmare. i am so scared that someday i will dredge up a body. is it unlikely? yes. would i need therapy for a year? probably.
I was fishing a lake in Canada and we were doing well on bluegill one afternoon. A Blue Heron landed on a downed tree nearby and slowly inched his way over to where we were catching the fish.......you know what's coming.....yep, the darned bird decided he deserved one of the fish that we were reeling in. Let me tell you the excitement really revved up at that point. LOL
A friend of mine managed to snag two snapping turtles in the middle of a mating session. Not intentionally. Ive caught frogs and turtles. And once I found a tshirt knotted up and stuffed with drugs. Other than that nothing really bizarre.

I discovered a dead body on the Lower Niagara River several years back. Luckily I identified what it was before I casted to it. He was a floater, and was pinned up against the bank where I was chucking a spinnerbait too while drifting along. I was prefishing for a tournament, and that killed about an hour before the Coast Guard showed up and told me I was free to leave. I was the third person in my club to discover a body on that river over several years, so apparently, it's a good place to go if you are looking for one.

Yikes, sounds like the beginning of a Stephen King novel.

It didn't weird me out too much. I always wondered the story behind it, who he was and why he was there. I tried to keep with the news for a while, but the only thing I saw was a brief blurp saying a fisherman discovered a body on such and such day. Nothing more.
I've caught a small Plano box last night! I've also caught a swan, needless to say I cut the line. I also caught a bullfrog on a hollow body. Glad to see I'm not alone with that one haha.
I have caught several weird things over the years, some memorable and some probably forgotten about. One of the more memorable things was a rock of all things. Doesn't seem too strange, but I was dragging tubes on a Western New York three days after Christmas and the action was a little slow to say the least. Also, it came out of 45 feet of water and weighed 4.3 pounds and was about twice the size of a softball. For a hook to stay in that rock for so long without pulling out was kinda amazing. Also, I just couldn't reel it in. The reel just wouldn't handle that kind of dead weight (try it sometime, you'll see what I mean) so I had to carefully pull the rod up 4 or 5 feet, then drop the rod and reel up the slack quickly at the same time stopped the falling rock again. Took a while to get it to the surface and when It got close I loudly called for the net. lol Got it scooped up and lots of cheering and high fiving commenced. Like I said, it was during a time when the water is usually frozen around here, so we'll take any excitement we can get.
That was ten years ago and still have the rock to this day.
my area, it's not too uncommon with all the drownings and things like that. And in the delta out here I hear about one being found every so often. On 6/23/2013 at 12:20 PM, CPBassFishing said:that is literally my worst nightmare. i am so scared that someday i will dredge up a body. is it unlikely? yes. would i need therapy for a year? probably.
caught a crappie on a weightless super fluke while dead sticking it. haha. never caught a crappie before. it scared the hell out of me how hard it fought vs a bass. haha
Caught about a 2lb bull frog the other day on a hollow body frog. Almost caught a Kingfisher on a sammy, he flew away with it luckily didn't get hooked and dropped it.
