Will tubes work for largemouths? Just wondering because I've never used them but I know they are smallie killers. Also what about a creature bait on a shaky head?

Tubes are great for largemouths. For me I have three main baits I use for when I am fishing over beds and targeting spawning fish.
1. Lizards
2. Tubes
3. Big bite baits - war mouth
#3. Is a bait that I tried just last year while bass were on the bed and it was absolutely amazing. I would go to YouTube and watch dean Rojas's video and see how he suggest you rig them. I like the blue gill and pumpkin seed colors.
All that said, it is hard to beat a lizard or a tube on a bed. Those are MY favorites. Doesn't mean that there aren't others that work great. Centipedes and senkos can be killers too!

I've always done well with the a Yum Dinger and a Yum Crawbug around the bed. This year I plan on using the BPS Pesky Perch come spawn time. I cannot wait, especially with all the lakes locked up around here right now. One thing is for sure, I'll be well stocked when open water season is here. When I can't fish, I just seem to buy more and more lures.

Lizards are very productive as spawn and prespawn baits . They are great pre spawn carolina riiged (lost art) and for flipping on beds.
We have a new lizard that is a killa coming this month.

In my opinion largemouth and smallies will eat about the same baits/lures

Been fishing for over fifty years and I have a tackle store in my den because of that #*@%ing hard water. My kids and grandkids will never have to buy a lure and will likely sell off most of it as I don't have anything other than fishing stuff that is actually worth anything.
Oh yea, what was the topic????? Spawn baits, right? My #1 is a tube and #2 is a C-rigged crand on a 6in. leader with a heavy weight. Drag the weight onto the near side of the bed and let the bait back off on a little slack. When I pick up the slack the crank dives into the bed area. I've had fish that were spooked off the bed come back to hammer that crank.

Least year is the only year I have bed fished. I did well with a rage craw on a shakey head. Stands the claws up in the fighting position.

Drop shot worked for me the best last year. That and a rabbit hair fly of my own creation seemed to aggravate enough to get a few bites.

If you are talking about bed fishing, it's hard to beat a Mattlures Bluegill or his U2 Bluegill.
If just casting for pre-spawners, tough to beat a slow rolled Hardgill if you are looking for size.

Zoom magnum green pumpkin , with XPS worm rattle ,Texas rigged. Produce more bass than anything I've ever used.

Zoom magnum trick worm. Honestly can't tell you how many fish I catch a day. This Saturday I caught 27 bass, 10 of which were over 5 lbs and the winning bass of 7.2lbs.
It's how you wiggle your worm!
