fishing user avatarburleytog reply :

If it were me, I would drop all of the Megabass, Deps, LC, OSP, Manns and the suspending DD22's.

But that's just me.

fishing user avatarSam reply :

Most of the places I fish in Virginia do not have depths more than 12 feet so a collection of deep diving crankbaits is not on my list of things to purchase.

99% of my fishing is in water under 5 feet so a 100, 200 or 300 series crankbait or a #5 or #7 Rapala does the trick.

If you have to fish very deep water than go ahead and start your collection.

Even If you never use them all it is fun to play with them in the winter when you can't go fishing.  ;)

fishing user avatarIncheon Basser reply :

Most of them would probably never even see water I just like my fishing room to look like a tackle store... Is it Crazy that I would like to live in a Tackle Store? lol

It scares me how much money I could spend on tackle some times.. If I could spend over a grand on just DD crank baits what would happen if I tried to price all of the baits I like...

fishing user avatarBassin_Fin@tic reply :

What about rapalas and bandits? A little more budget friendly IMO.

No, I don't think it's crazy either. Its very easy to spend that much if you consider one single brand, various colors, various, depth, various weight/size,then maybe buy two of the good ones in case you lose one.It gets insane reeally quick.

Oh and forgot to mention that a few lipless in the 3/4 and 1 oz size wouldn't hurt either. They can run real deep and be as productive if not more on some days.Unless of course you already went crazy on those before too. ;)

fishing user avatarTommyBass reply :

Better be winning some tourneys with that much cash put on cranks.

I honestly carry about 4 good cranks for each depth range.  Depth ranges I consider to be 1-4',  4-8', 8-12', and 12'+.  Colors I normally carry two shad or shad / chart colors.  One chart color and maybe either a brown or red/orange.

Don't get caught up too much in the many differnt brands.  Find one you like and stick with it, its easier to fine tune your skills with a known crankbait than constantly switching around.  If you want to throw and extra brand in there for a different wobble style you could maybe also do that, but I have never found that to make as much of a difference as some people claim it to.

fishing user avatarBassin_Fin@tic reply :

Jerkbaits are just as bad if not worse. Also whats going to happen if you get on a good shallow crank bite... ;D

fishing user avatarGrey Wolf reply :

The Monkey just loves you.

fishing user avatarUncle Leo reply :

YES. ;)

fishing user avatargrimlin reply :

I told my wife,If we ever win the lottery I'm flying out to tackle warehouse in CA with $10,000 cash and just go crazy. She told me...why don't you just buy the place then....Then i got to thinking.......

;D

fishing user avatarD4u2s0t reply :

I cary about 10 cranks, and don't see the need to have any more...  I have all the bases covered, can hit any depth in the lakes I fish, suspending, floating, wide action, tight wobble, lipless, etc.  I see no reason to pick up more, when what I have works, and I have all the situations covered...

in short, my response is yea, you're nuts lol  ;D

fishing user avatarmrbassky reply :

Yes thats crazy. I buy plenty of high dollar baits jackall, lucky craft, swimbaits, ect. But I just havent seen the results on deep diving premium baits to justify buying them yet. I hear about some pros using them but I think your just as well off with normans, strike king, fat free shads, rapalas and maybe a few wooden baits. For jerkbaits, shallow cranks and topwater you see alot more premium baits used but with deep cranks I just dont think you need premium baits. The best deep crankbait fisherman on the pro tours do fine with cheaper american baits. When you pay 3 times as much for a bait that just means it cost 3 times as much to make it and ship it not that it is 3 times as good. I kinda get a felling you are buying expensive baits you never used just because they are expensive. But thats just me.  ;)

But I dont see a problem spending that much on baits even though I dont agree with your choices. People blow money on stupid worthless stuff they have no chance of ever using all the time. At least the baits might have some use.

fishing user avatarbackpain... reply :

I am printing your post to give to my wife, it makes me look sane. ;) She thinks I am crazy, and I only buy stuff when there are sales.

Seriously though, it is true that there is some sort of power that the bait monkey holds over fisherman. We can never have enough! ;D

BAD MONKEY!

fishing user avatarmrbassky reply :

Whats really crazy is I could have given you a discount code for *** and saved you $100.  :'(

fishing user avatarFat-G reply :

I definitely WOULD NOT do that. Put it in your bank account and let it grow.

Uh ..... define "normal".

More than 700 cranks and ......... I end up fishing with the same 20-30, go figure.

fishing user avatarBC reply :

Yup - it's crazy!  Surely you need to put some gas in the boat or car?

fishing user avatarWoolleyBass reply :

Holy crap dude thats a crazy amount lol. But your not that nuts. If i had the money i would do the same thing in a heartbeat.

Roby

fishing user avatarK_Mac reply :

Yes it absolutely insane. I don't like deep crankbaits very much. ;) This is coming from a guy who has spent hundreds of dollars this year on jigs and plastics. :-?

fishing user avatarDock Master reply :

;)

$6,000 more and you could get one of those Tracker Bass boats.

:o

fishing user avatarIncheon Basser reply :

I plan on spending over 3 grand in total. This is my plan. A grand or so on rods, A grand on reels and a grand on baits. But I have another delama. Do iI use the money to buy more expensive JDM and KDM items that I will not beable to buy in the states when I return or do I buy Domestic stuff and then pay to have it shiped to me or a combination of the two.

Just buy what you need. Dont worry about if you buy it later

fishing user avatarJDK. reply :

so lets see pictures of what you bought

fishing user avatarslonezp reply :

I missed this post the first time.

What's the difference if you spend a grand on crankbaits, a few grand on rod&reel combos, 30 grand on a boat, or 30bucks on an Uglystick combo and 6 bucks for a pack of senkos. There is no point in justifying how you spend your money whether alot or a little. It's all the same. It's all for a stupid green little fishy.
