Here is my set up for frog fishing -
RODS (all of the rods I have used to catch fish with, some of which I still have)
REELS (all of the reels I have used on the above rods, some of which I still have)
LINES (all of the lines I have spooled onto the above reels, some of which I still have)
TOOLS AND ACCESSORIES (anything that I might carry with me while on the water - if I'm not in the boat, it has to fit in my cargo shorts pockets)
TERMINAL/SPARE LINE (any types of terminal tackle that will come with me on the water)
MOST USED FROGS (the frogs that see the water the most)
OFTEN USED FROGS (frogs that see the water usually, but not every trip)
SOMETIMES USED FROGS (frogs that sometimes see the water)
RARELY USED FROGS (frogs that just kind of sit around, and are a last resort when nothing else will work)
FROG MODDING KIT
Wow.... My head hurts now...:-/
You're telling me you use all those rods and reels for frogging or is this just what you have?
K.I.S.S....
Keep it simple, stupid
I feel under equipped....I use a 7'3"H or 7'6"MH rod, 30 or 40lb braid, and a handful of the following
Phat Frogs,
Poppin Phatty,
LT Field Mouse,
Bronze Eye Shad.
My list isn't even close.
Frogging is one of my favorite techniques, but there is a time and a place when they are best used. I have found a few frogs that I really like(KVD, and pad crasher), and I use them pretty much exclusively. I have 3 dedicated frog setups two for hollow bodies(7'6" H/F) and one for toads(7'MH/F) all on 7:1 reels. OP you seem to really enjoy frog fishing, however there are a whole bunch of other techniques out there that produce much better than frogs on many days ( jigs, t-rigs, crankbaits, dropshot, etc...) I would suggest taking some time to learn these techniques as well as you do frogs, it may increase your success rate...

d**n dude.
I have a Skeet Reese Flippin rod for my froggin rig. I have it paired with a Lew's Tournament Pro with 50lb Kanzen braid.
I want to upgrade to a Dobyns Champion soon, I'm about to post a thread about it too.
One thing you don't need is a high end ( $$$$ ) rod. You just need a mid range to low end broom stick kind of a rod. Braid 65 lb. and the reel is where I would put my money! A good drag and a fast reel 7.1.Remember you are fishing a top water frog so you don't a sensitive rod just one with alot of backbone.
I am really trying to get the point of this post, but other than the notion that you got more fishing gear at age 14 than I did, I ain't seeing it. The youth of today are periodically a mystery to me.
I don't think he's 14, and how much of this is actually true, I'm going to think either his parents are rich or he got all this from tackle warehouse. On 2/2/2015 at 5:15 AM, Fishes in trees said:I am really trying to get the point of this post, but other than the notion that you got more fishing gear at age 14 than I did, I ain't seeing it. What does "some of which I still have mean" ? If you don't have them, how do you throw frogs on them ? Sounds like a shopping list.
Get off my lawn.
FrogTastic. I applaud your enthusiasm. I can see how excited you are when it comes to frog fishing. I agree its very exhilarating when a monster bass blows up on your offering. I don't understand the nature of your post, although i can see you are very well equipped for frog fishing. I am several chapters ahead of you in life, and over time you will learn to keep things simpler. I wish you the best of luck, and remember to post pics of your catches.

Oh I know lemme carry 15 combos to the pond so I can fish 1 frog the whole time.
I always bring my gigantic wall of text too haha
14 years old & owns 30+ rod/reel combos?
Either full of it or spoiled
Well I hope the rods listed are just rods you have used and sold, not all the ones you have for frogging. Personally I think even more then 2 frogging rods is unnecessary. If I had a specific Frogging rod I would only have one but that's just me. Having over 30+ frogs is really obsessive in my opinion but, to each their own. This seems like more of a bragging thread to me than anything
Clearly I should start frogging on all my setups. I don't understand am I thinking.
Seriously that is insane amount of rods to frog fish. I have 1 rod that I tie frogs too. I don't see myself needing more.

I just don't know where they'd all go haha... Can you imagine how many setups he has for moving baits, plastics and jigs?? He must have a pontoon boat and 150 rods on any given day

Silly, they wouldn't all fit in one boat. He has a boat specifically for his gear only.

No, no! Get it right man, he's got a boat for every technique! His list of boats (All of which he's used to catch fish with and some of which he still has)
Ranger 520c
Nitro Z8
Trition TR-21
Bennington Pontoon

Shoot my mistake!
I agree the nature of the OP's post left many of us scratching our heads. Yes, his list of frogging equipment is rather extensive. But many of you do understand you are poking fun at a 14 yr old kid right? What ever happen to giving sound advice? He hasn't been disrespectful as far as I can see to anyone. I just see an enthusiastic kid who really loves to frog fish that has a lot of gear. Who are we to question how and where he got all that equipment? If we can't be constructive to a young adult then this is perfect example of closing a thread.

This has nothing to do with age. If so one calls me young I say I have the same mind as them it dosent mean I'm stupid because im 14

Who said anything about being stupid because of being 14?

No, that's all of the rods and reels that I have ever used to catch a frog on. Some of those I still own, but I sold a bunch. Some weren't even mine - they were my friends.

I will say that I already applaud you for have the spunk to post on here after all the "hazing".
A lot of people would have been long gone!
By the way... Something tells me you like fishing frogs??? welcome aboard buddy.

Thank you! Everyone else on this thread has either called me spoiled or made fun of me for having a lot of gear. This is not all the gear that I currently have, but all of the gear that I have EVER had for frog fishing. I probably own 5-8 of those setups now, and they are not used JUST for frog fishing. I fish Carolina rigs, drop shots, jigs, cranks, spinnerbaits - lots of other stuff. Frogs are just my preferred lure of choice. Most of the rods on here are sold already. And, does it seem likely that I would've bought every one on there? Most of those have either been with gift cards, or for my birthday/Christmas. Thank you, BassinLou, for actually taking interest in this thread, rather than using it to make fun of me.
Yes, I do understand that the thread was long and somewhat pointless, but I wanted to give my 2 cents on good gear for frog fishing.

Thanks.
Rude and mean people don't really bother me. Mostly idiots.
Great comeback until the last post. "idiots"? Now you just became rude and mean.
Frog fishing is something I commit too if I'm going to do it. I'm not likely going to unless it's overcast out. One of the most important piece of frogging equipment I have is a push pole. It gets me back into the really thick stuff. Also, it tells me what the bottom is like. If it's hard then I'll fish that area. Squishy bottom of doesn't seem to hold bass imo. I have one rod dedicated for frogging and that's a Mojo Slop/Frog with a Curado. BUT, you can use a MH spinning rod to throw smaller frogs. If I was beating a bank with a frog I would use a 7' MH Fast rod so I could get a little more accurate. I really only use a white frog and brownish frogs. Although I have tons of different ones. Lol. You picked one of the most exciting and most patient of techniques to specialize in. Good deal.

Oh alright. That makes a lot more sense. I wasn't trying to call you stupid, but K.I.S.S is like a saying lol.

Yeah, that would cost thou$and$ if I still owned every rod on there.

I didn't call anybody on here an idiot. All I did was simply state that rude/mean people don't bother me, just people with no common sense. The reason I didn't close this thread was because I don't mind people being mean, just people being stupid. Which there were none of.
Let's move on.
Goodnight Irene.
