I have tried several chatterbaits and have purchased the z man and stuck with them. Finally had the courage to get the evergreen jackhammer ! Haven’t used it yet but it looks good. Hoping for good things when I go out tomorrow.
Sweet ~
Be careful though . . .
You might get your arm broke . .
Good Luck.

Best chatterbait on the market. Too bad it’s not a few dollars cheaper
They are expensive but are worth it to me. Most of the time I wait for a 20% off sale. Z Man also backs up their products. I had one of the skirts tear up and emailed Z Man about it. They sent me two replacement skirts plus some neat stickers.

Get to fishing online and buy some while they're still on sale, it ends today. They have 20% on all their Z-Man products and the Jackhammer is in stock.
Sixteen dollar chatterbait???
Just curious... what makes this bladed jig so much better than a Siebert bladed jig? The fogy is only $4.50. Not bagging on the Jackhammer just honestly wondering.

With all of the good bladed jigs on the market, for less than half the price of the Jackhammer, it would have to be something special for me to consider buying it.
My favorite is made here locally. Its called a bighead Wobbler. It has a very distinct wobble.

I see that has a split ring to connect the blade. I’m not a fan. I won’t use any chatterbaits that use them anymore. It’s one of the reasons I love Z-Man’s so much

I felt the same way until I tried these. very well built and always vibrate.
I have had 2 Z man chatterbaits fail on large fish.
Losing a fish because the bait failed is unacceptable to me.

I think that's a big part of zmans patent.

Hey I forgot to thank you again. Your vibrating jigs worked great. Caught plenty of nice fish on them! If anyone wants a nice vibrating custom jig I would go with @Bluebasser86
Guys were asking what makes “Evergreen” Jack Hammers worth the money. These were not designed nor are they made by Z-man. Z-man just handles distribution and makes a royalty from allowing Evergreen to direct connect the blade to the head. Don’t look at these like a regular bladed jig. Think of them like a JDM bait, why? Because every component on it is very high quality. Beyond any bladed jig you’ve fished before. From the ultra thin stainless steel blade that vibrates instantly, every single time. The line ties are super strong and have nothing for your line to catch on. They have double wire bait keepers that will save you a ton on trailers (thread your trailer onto the double wire with a 1/4 turn and then twist it into position to lock the bait on, otherwise you’ll create a channel for the bait to slide off of) the skirts are excellent in both looks and quality. The heads are small because half the weight is positioned behind the head and on the hook shaft, which makes a smaller frontal profile so they come through weeds better and balances the bait out. If you watch videos of bladed jigs coming through the water they usually have a heads up/trailer down profile. They have neutral lift. Exceptionally sharp hooks that take very well to sharpening when needed. There is a reason that pros not sponsored by Evergreen are spending thousands on these. Pros that are sponsored by companies that make bladed jigs are using them...just about all of them.
I fished 2 weeks ago with a friend who said he’d never spend over $8 on a bladed jig...yet has tons of Lucky Craft and MegaBass jerks, cranks and topwaters. He fished a Project Z, I fished a Jack. Same color, same trailer when it got to 10-0 in favor of the Jack, he asked to borrow one. I was fishing the Jack behind him as well. He’s now a believer and buys his from the eBay seller I do from Japan. They’re 10.95 plus 2.95 shipping but they will combine shipping cost. Guys, they’re worth it, they last and last and catch and catch. Stop thinking they are simply “bladed jigs” and consider them a bait on their own and get over the price or don’t, your loss. Btw pike and Muskie love them too as do brown trout and steelhead and they don’t come apart on these bruisers. Tight lines
a beast I caught on a 1/2oz GP Jack, check out the video as well. https://chicago.suntimes.com/environment/surprise-of-a-lifetime-pike-with-video-from-the-calumet-fish-of-the-week/

Thanks for the info and awesome video! I'm usually a skeptic but always willing to try something new. Thanks!
I think I would rather get skunked 10-0 than to setup an eBay account and try to buy something from japan. Yes I know I buy plenty of cheap crap from China but at least it’s hanging in store with Americans working in there
When the waters cool (early & Late season) in water less than 10 feet or so,
The Jackhammer has been a solid producer for me.
Especially on smallmouth.
These two choked one on Saturday - water temps were 50 degrees.

You're kinda missing the point there, bud. These are readily available in the US in every major tackle retailer. However, they are very different than the others because they're built by Evergreen and not Zman. They parts are of the highest quality and the head has a very unique shape that allows the blade to strike it in a way no other vibrating jig does. So, it catches fish. period.

Well I got the point about the effectiveness of the lure, just saying I would rather get them from the US tackle stores you mentioned

And Black Friday is just around the corner!! I'm already compiling a wishlist at TW. And a heavier Jackhammer will be on that list, I'm sure...

Then buy them in a US tackle store. What's the point of the debate? That was a rhetorical question. If it weren't for Z-man, you would not be able to buy them here.

I may just do that. I like to do business with people whose hand I can shake. To each his own
These are on my list of things to try next year. As well as the Picasso Shock Wave Tungsten football head knockers. Right now they are ripping the rod out of my hands with a Project Z and Freedom, so those are very effective too.
I gave up on my home made vibrating jigs. I always caught fish on them, but not like I have been this year with a quality factory made product.
In my opinion, the Jackhammer is hands down the best bladed jig currently available in the US market. That said, I've only been buying them when I can get a deal, as I seem to lose more chatters than any other lure. When the Z man patent runs out my opinion might change though
What size are you all using?

3/8 and 1/2 oz for my general use

@ww2farmer
I'll be interested to hear how you make out and any feed back regarding the bait you may have.
I haven't fished every bladed jig, and have had various success with both the baits you mentioned above.
But for whatever reason - the "Jackhammer" has out produced for me by quite a wide margin. Can't say why either.
btw - consider hanging that Zako trailer on it - it's a winner.

I just got a couple in the 3/4 oz size which is the one I use the most. Happy to add it to the line-up.

How well do these stay down during retrieve and also coming thru wood ?

I found that the Jackhammer stays down better than the other chatterbaits that I have tried. As far as coming through wood, it no better or worse than the others.

3/8oz from 1 to 5’, 1/2oz to 10’ 3/4oz down to 16-18’ 1oz (Shock blade or Bob4Bass) & 1-1/4oz down to 25’
I use all the normal trailers everyone else does but Ive experimented with huge trailers all year when I night fish. The number one trailer “at night” for bass over 4lbs plus big pike, tigers and walleye and even a 3+ smallmouth (mouth hooked) has been a BPS 8” Jumbo Musky single tail grubs. We call it “The Mega Chatt” or now just “The Meg” it’s 10” long and just under 2ozs total weight. When fish hit this bait I think they feel they have to hit it super hard to stun it. After a good night my inner bicep and ribs are completely black and blue. It’s insane how hard the hits are. Anyone who night fishes should try this and report back. Do not be afraid to throw a bait this big. I wish I weren’t in northern Illinois and I can’t wait to move to big fish waters to try this. Btw my first bass was only 14”. It gave me lots of confidence and as you can see in the photo a 3lbdr will completely inhale the bait. We start off with the Meg, if that’s not “the” pattern we’ll drop down to the Mini Meg (6” Musky trailer) and from there we’ll use normal trailers. Actually if I’m shore fishing in 1 to 4’ I’ll start throwing the Mini Meg. The Meg is too noisy. We use the big one on ledges, deep weed edges or docks over deeper water. Probably would work everywhere but slinging it all night (8-10hrs) gets rough on my back. I use a 7-3 heavy G-rod Pro Bass just to throw the big Jacks

Made me, a person indifferent to a chatterbait... Completely fall in love with chatterbaits. Everything mentioned above about construction, action, etc is spot on.

Nice! What rods and line are you guys throwing them on?
I bought a 1oz Shock Blade last year with the idea of using it for some kayak trolling after striped bass, but now I wish I had tried it for freshwater bass. I stuck a Big EZ swimbait on it and it makes a hell of a commotion in the water and gives a ton of resistance, I bet a huge grub would work better.

Trowing the chatterbaits on a Falcon med. heavy rod with a Lews 6:3.1 gear ratio with 16# Sunline Sniper line.
3/8 & 1/2 I’m with Tander, I use a 7’ med/hvy fast. For 3/4 and up I use a 7-3 hvy fast (rated to 2ozs) trailers play a big role in the baits over all weight. If you’re throwing your 1oz shock blade with a big trailer you’re probably around/over 1-1/2ozs. A magnum rage bug weighs a 1/2oz. Zakos, Pit Boss’s, 5” spider grubs, 4” swim baits are all around 3/8oz.
I don’t fish lakes that have the kind of weeds where you rip your bladed jig through them to get a reaction strike, so I don’t use Mod-fast or Med-fast rods or glass, glass/graphite composites...I’ve tried them but prefer fast action
Dipping my toe in the Jackhammer water too! Used DSG 20% of online plus my $10 rewards and bought a 3/8oz BHite Delight for $6 out of pocket! Now to figure out what trailer to use. Didn't buy anything specifically for this. Currently have some 4.8 BPS Speed Shad in Ghost Shad, Keitech Fat Impact 3.8 in Green Pumpkin. Also have both in Bluegill Flash.

Keitech or the Gary Yamamoto zako is the best on my opinion
Yeah, almost grabbed some Zakos or Razor Shadz but changed my mind. Was mainly thinking about color. I'll try with what I've got and see how it goes.
