Favorite jig and trailer!? 2024

fishing user avatarKyle S reply :

What is your favorite all around jig!? I love throwing jigs and with all of the choices out there, which one do you throw? Thanks!

fishing user avatarMr Swim Jig reply :

I throw a lot of different style jigs, I mainly use all North Star Baits Jigs.  My favorite is a Swim Jig...

But I also love the Flip & Swim Jig, Southpaw, Black Football and Black Series jigs, all just depends on the type of cover and structure I am fishing...

fishing user avatarclh121787 reply :

Paradise tackle jigs. Hands down. If i could have one jig for the rest of time. It would be a 3/4 oz P.T. f.b. jig in texas craw. Trailers dont really much to me. Some kinda craw or beaver. Havoks are good and cheap! Rage craws if you wanna pay double

fishing user avatarMunkin reply :

I have been making my own for years and this has been the new go-to. For trailers I use different ones but my main 3 are; Super Chunks, Chigger craws, and Prowler chunks.

This one with a Rage Craw, Christie Craw, or Craw Papi. I really like fishing pork too but it's too expensive for me to use anymore.

fishing user avatarpapajoe222 reply :

My favorite all around jig is an arkie style jig. My favorite trailer depends on the season, the fish's activity level, and how fast a drop the fish want, so I really don't have an all around favorite. If I were forced to choose only one, it'd be a RageTail Craw.

fishing user avatarCatt reply :

I fish a lot of vegetation so for me it's Oldham's Eye-Max, Siebert's Grass Jig, or Hack Attack's Heavy Cover or Fluorocarbon Jig.

Trailers:

Rage Craw, Lobster, Menace, or Bug

Larew Hawg Craw

Zoom Ultra Vibe Speed Craw or Swimmin Chunk

fishing user avatarWes Bond reply :

I have 2 favorite jig styles. The first one is a brush jig, it makes for a great flipping jig with a zoom speed craw, rage bug and/or a rage craw.

https://store.do-itmolds.com/Weedless-Brush-Jig-Molds_c_51.html

my second favorite jig is a sparkie jig. The head shape makes for a perfect skipping jig whether it’s docks, lay downs or pontoons. I use mostly zoom speed craws but will use a rage craw and rage bug as a trailer as well

fishing user avatarBassThumb reply :

Seibert's Dredge or Northstar Baits Black Series. Basically the same skirt and alien-style head with recessed eye, but Seibert uses an Owner Cutting Point hook and Northstar uses a heavier 3x needlepoint Mustad.

Strike King Rage Tail Craw, Netbait Sr Paca Chunk, and a Zoom Super Chunk. Rage Tail is a fast paddle, Sr Paca Chunk is a slow paddle, and Zoom Chunk is more finesse.

fishing user avatarJFlynn97 reply :

Siebert arky jig with either a rage craw or sweet beaver trailer. Best jigs I've used, and you can use an arky practically anywhere

fishing user avatarsmalljaw67 reply :

I make my own as well and I can narrow it down to two. Arky head, 3/8oz with 3/0oz VMC 7161 hook 50 strand silicone skirt in magic craw pattern (watermelon with blue tint) and a flipping blue Zoom super chunk Jr. trailer. The other is a round head 5/16oz with a 3/0hook (Eakins type jig) in my clear water craw pattern with a River Rock Baits Jake's craw trailer in light special color.

Allen, do you know where I can find any Prowler pro eel chunks??? I saw the Prowler reference, there chunk trailers are great but I think they went out of business.

I have been finding them on Ebay and one Facebook page.  Let me find the guy on Facebook and ask if he has any.

fishing user avatarFishes in trees reply :

Throwing jigs 100% depends on conditions.  Throwing a football head is grass can be tedious.  Throwing a grass jig in rocks gets stuck much more often than a football jig in rocks.  I fish standing t amber quite a bit and when the 10" worm isn't working, I quickly switch to a 5/16 Eakins jig.  Sometimes I use the small Eakins craw trailer but more often I use the Netbait paca trailers with the floppy legs.

fishing user avatarJoshua van Wyk reply :

My favorite jig is the swimjig that @Munkin makes in the sunfish color. Works like a charm!

Thanks! They work really well for LM and blue cats.

I didn't post it before but this is my #1 jig period a 5/16oz green pumkin with a super chunk jr trailer. I cannot count how many fish I have caught on this jig in the last 15 years.

This Jig : I bought 50 in bulk from someone on eBay for $30 dollars a few years ago. They have a recessed line tie, ribbed texture skirt and two rattles. Seller said they were Terminator brand but I’m not so sure ? Because all the terminators I’ve seen have an exposed line tie. But whatever they are, they are excellent for casting, swimming, skipping and flipping moderate cover. I pair them with Zoom Chunks or Yum Christie Craws

6th sense hybrid jigs or swimjigs ! Love the bluegill fire or the bluegill juice or the black light. Also dirty jigs and siebart jigs

fishing user avatarThe Maestro reply :

Yamamoto Flappin' Hog is a fantastic bait whether rigged Texas or as a trailer. There's something about this bait, I think it's the profile, that bass really like. I've thrown them in the exact same spot where I just threw a Senko and it was taken instantly when the Senko was rejected.

I’m not sure,  I’ve searched Terminator Jigs and everything they currently make has an exposed style line tie. Luckily I have enough of these for a very long time!

fishing user avatarLargies4Life reply :

I've been throwing a lot of Dirty Jigs recently. One reoccurring problem that I've had with them (and most brands) is that the trailers do not last long. I ordered a handful of the 6th sense jigs with the screw lock to see if those will keep the trailers on for longer periods of time.

Google image Terminator jigs and you will see them. I think they have been discontinued but am not sure.

That's what the custom mold I have was modeled after. It sticks out a touch more than the Terminator but they got it pretty close.

Those were the Terminator (pre VMC) Pro Model jigs. I still have a couple of them NIP, but can't get myself to throw them since they are no longer made. They were great around brush.

fishing user avatarDwbassin reply :

Guess all my pics are over 1.46 mb but beast coast makes my favorite jigs. Great skirts, great heads and I’ve really tried to get them hung and I CANNOT. Trailers I love paca chunks, rage craws, rage bugs, and chigger craws. For finesse I love the little bitsy bugs, cheap and good. Basic colors too, tried and true

Yes that’s exactly what they look like. I did notice in the 50ct of bulk jigs I bought, it looks like on half of them the lead was slightly over poured and the eyelet isn’t cleared properly. Could this be low quality control or maybe they are from a custom Terminator mold ?
